Figure Numbering A familiarity with our figure number system is not necessary when specifying or ordering our valves. Providing a full description of the valve is given. Our sales office will translate this into a figure number. A full description of the valve would begin with LANUS Forged steel ball valves and would then go on to give size, pressure rating, flanging details etc. We give an example below in order to illustrate a typical figure number. But if a fuller explanation is required please feel free to contact us by email.

Remark 1) The test duration is calculated after the testing pressure in the valve has been increased to the value
stipulated on the standard. These durations will be adhered to unless a different specification is required against a particular order. Hydrostatic tests of long duration require that the valve be given special attention to facilitate pipeline testing.The same duration for BS6755, GB/T13927 & ISO5208.
2) ISO5208 has no this requirement which is cited from BS6755. 3) The same duration for JB/T9092, API600 & API598. 4) API 6D also requires a 5.5 bar(80 PSIG)air test on the seat for the same duration.

Installation, Marking, and Identification Marking and identification of LANUS steel valves conforms to ASME B16.34 and MSS-SP-25. It is important to properly identify valves in service to allow for the ordering of replacement parts or address questions or concerns relating to our products. Body markings and information shown on the identification plate helps to properly identify valves, allowing timely and accurate responses to such inquiries. Integrally cast body marking data includes the following information and helps to provide traceability:
• LANUS logo • Pressure class • Valve size • The grade of material (i.e. A105) • Heat number – on body and bonnet stamped) • Series Number (Stamped on the edge of end flange)
The body markings are supplemented by a nameplate which, depending on valve type and size, is mounted in the most practicable position. Nameplates bear the following information:
• Fig Number • Valve size • Body material • Ball material • Stem material • Seat and trim material • Pressure and temperature rating

LANUS forged steel ball valves completely comply with API 607 & API 6Fa reliable on below features. 1) SS+graphite sealing for
the Body & bonnet ; 2) M to M sealing lip for the
seat & ball; 3) Pure graphite sealing for
the Body & Seat; 4) Pure graphite sealing for
the body & covers.
Locking Device
LANUS forged steel ball valves provide with a locking device that is very convenient to use in the service conditions with or without client’s request in order to carry out the requirements of API 6D.
Special designs to retain the insert for high pressure conditions; 1) Screw to tighten the retainer; 2) Insert retainer to retain the insert to prevent insert from being blown out by
the high pressure from the outside when the valve breaks to open at full delta pressure;
3) Insert made by PEEK or Nylon or RPTFE for high pressure condition (Cl900 or above);
4) Rolled lip to prevent the insert from being blown out by the high pressure from the inside when the valve breaks to open at full delta pressure.
Excellent emergency sealing system: 1) All injection fittings are convenient giant
buttomhead with a safety vent cap. 2) A check valve makes sure no lubricant &
media at high pressure leak from the injection fitting;
3) Two O-rings form a cavity to reserve the lubricant & prevent it from flow into the media;
4) Grease stick for stem emergency sealing of which injection fitting can be extended on client’s requirement.
Special designs for heavy duty 1) A stage on the tailpiece to support the trunnion block to decrease
the precision requirement to the trunnion block pin (2); 2) The trunnion block pins to prevent the trunnion block from turning
around in the body cavity; 3) A processing thread hole to make assemble & maintain the seat
more convenient; 4) Trunnion blocks to reduce a leakage point; 5) A sleeve bearing & a flat bearing both made of copper-based with
PTFE to reduce the torque.
Anti-static design A spring between the trunnion and the ball or between the stem and the gland plate permits electrical continuity between all valve components.

Technical Seating Features
Double Piston Seat Design Upstream Seat: Line Pressure acting on the seat area (A1) does not against the line pressure acting on the seat area (A2). The difference in the area (D1) times the line pressure creates a “piston effect” force which pushes the seat against the ball surface resulting in a tight effective Downstream Seat: When the body cavity pressure is greater than the downstream pressure, the body cavity pressure acts on the seal area (A4). The net pressure difference, acting over area (D2), pushes the downstream
The ultimate benefit of using the “double piston seat” design: In case of upstream seat leakage, the down- stream seat maintains a pressure assisted tight shut off by sealing against the ball surface.
Self Relieving Seat Design Upstream Seat: The difference in area (D1) times the line pressure creates a “piston effect” which forces the seat against the ball surface. Also the springs behind the seat adds the force to the seat which keeps the seat in contact with the ball surface by providing the tight seal. Downstream Seat: When the body cavity pressure exceeds the spring
pressure, automatic pressure relief will occur by relieving the body cavity pressure past the downstream seat. This eliminates the need for the body relief valve.
Double Block and Bleed The double block and bleed condition is available in all seat design configurations. When the ball is in the closed position the body cavity pressure may be drained down to ‘zero’ by opening the bleed valve and draining the fluid by removing the drain plug. Each seat works independently assuring tight shut off seal against ball on the upstream and downstream side.

How to avoid problems
Ball valves shall be transported and stored with the ball in the fully open position. Flanged ends and welded ends shall be protected. End protection shall be removed only when the valve is installed in the line. Valves shall be handled using the proper lifting lugs. Valves shall be stored according to Lanus storage procedures. Long term storage shall be avoided. For Welded end valve, advise Lanus if there will be a postweld heat treatment (transition pups may be necessary to voids damages to to seals). Flush and clean the line before operating the valve.7 Make sure no-line testing flush is left in the line and/or the valve body. Avoild leaving the valve body filled with salt water to prevent internal corrosion. During line-testing, valves shall be left in the partially open position for the minimum possible of the time. Standard ball valves shall be use for on-off service only. Throttling service (use of the valve with the ball partially open) can damage the seats. Make sure to take into consideration the actual service conditions when selecting materials for O-rings and seat insert. Always specify ant-explosive docompression materials for valves to be used in high pressure gas service. Make sure the seleced actuator has been properly sized ( an oversized actuator can be as dangerous as an undersized one). Advise Lanus of cycle frequency to ensure proper sizing of actuator. Do not use the actuator to lift the valve.
WARRANTY CLAUSE WARNING : Lanus Industries LLC USA will not accept claims for damages due to poor handling on site and/or for valves service conditions different from the one for which they have been manufactured and sold by Lanus Industries LLC USA. In any case in which Lanus Industries LLC USA is not make aware of the actual use of the valves (e.g. valves ordered by a third party, such as a Stockiest) it is responsibility of the third party and/or of the user to verify the suitability of the valve materials and design for the medium and service conditions in which the valves will be use.

Valve standards from API - the American Petroleum Institute: • API SPEC 6D
Specification for Pipeline Valves. API Specification 6D is an adoption of ISO 14313: 1999, Petroleum and Natural Gas Industries-Pipeline Transportation Systems-Pipeline Valves. This International Standard specifies requirements and gives recommendations for the design, manufacturing, testing and documentation of ball, check, gate and plug valves for application in pipeline systems.
• API 526 Flanged Steel Pressure Relief Valves. The standard is a purchase specification for flanged steel pressure relief valves. Basic requirements are given for direct spring-loaded pressure relief valves and pilot-operated pressure relief valves as follows: orifice designation and area; valve size and pressure rating, inlet and outlet; materials; pressure-temperature limits; and center-to-face dimensions, inlet and outlet.
• API 527 Seat Tightness of Pressure Relief Valves R(2002). Describes methods of determining the seat tightness of metal- and soft-seated pressure relief valves, including those of conventional, bellows, and pilot-operated designs.
• ANSI/API STD 594 Check Valves: Flanged, Lug, Wafer and Butt-welding. API Standard 594 covers design, material, face-to-face dimensions, pressure-temperature ratings, and examination, inspection, and test requirements for two types of check valves.
• API 598 Valve Inspection and Testing. The standard covers inspection, supplementary examination, and pressure test requirements for both resilient-seated and metal-to-metal seated gate, globe, plug, ball, check, and butterfly valves. Pertains to inspection by the purchaser and to any supplementary examinations the purchaser may require at the valve manufacturer's plant.
• ANSI/API 599 Metal Plug Valves - Flanged, Threaded and Welding Ends. A purchase specification that covers requirements for metal plug valves with flanged or butt-welding ends, and ductile iron plug valves with flanged ends, in sizes NPS 1 through NPS 24, which correspond to nominal pipe sizes in ASME B36.10M. Valve bodies conforming to ASME B16.34 may have flanged end and one butt-welding end. It also covers both lubricated and nonlubricated valves that have two-way coaxial ports, and includes requirements for valves fitted with internal body, plug, or port linings or applied hard facings on the body, body ports, plug, or plug port.
• ANSI/API 600 Bolted Bonnet Steel Gate Valves for Petroleum and Natural Gas Industries - Modified National Adoption of ISO 10434:1998.
