Train Tickets If you’re planning on visiting just two cities or traveling by train for less than three days, train tickets might be the right choice for you. Train tickets are valid for a single journey from one European destination to another. We also offer tickets for selected airport transfers to and from the cities of your destination. And, many train tickets are available as e-tickets.
Rail PassesIf you know the countries you want to explore and want to wander within them, rail passes are the ideal companion. They’re perfect for anyone planning to travel for more than three days or who want an open itinerary. A rail pass is valid for a set number of travel days in which you can take as many train trips as you like. The travel days can be “consecutive” (i.e., 5 days in a row) or flexible (i.e., travel any day within a longer period of time for up to 2 months). Eurail Select and Global passes can include rail travel in 3 to 24 European countries on a single pass, while national and regional rail passes offer extensive travel within a specific country or region.
Activities In addition to your rail needs, we offer almost 100 different activities in 19 countries to make the most of your European experience. Consider a hop-on hop-off bus tour, museum pass, city transportation card or full and half-day guided tours.
Trains and Reservations
Day Trains A wide variety of trains are available for travel throughout Europe. Traveling short distances may be on local trains with frequent stops connecting smaller cities within a country. Intercity and Express trains travel longer distances and may extend to another country while high speed trains, traveling at up to 200 mph, make fewer stops, can cover longer distances in less time and often offer higher levels of service and amenities. All high speed trains and many Intercity and Express trains require reservations.
Night Trains Traveling while you sleep allows you to explore a city during the day, board an overnight train that evening and arrive at your next destination the following morning ready to go. All night trains require reservations and normally offer a wide range of accommodations, from reclining seats to single compartments with private showers.
Reservations When you book a ticket on our website that offers reserved seats, we’ll reserve them and it’s included in the cost of the ticket. If you are booking an overnight train the type of accommodations available will be displayed. With a rail pass the fare for the journey is covered, but the cost for a reservation is an additional fee at discounted passholder rates.
The More the Merrier Our group travel consultants offer personalized assistance for groups of 10 or more travelers.
With so many travel and budget choices, where do I start? Let’s begin with how you like to travel. Are you a planner, or more of a free spirit? We have great options for both, with expert advice that includes personalized recommendations and booking wizardry online, on our mobile app, or through our contact center to get you the right train tickets, rail passes and activities at the best possible prices.
How and when do I get my rail pass/ticket? You can make your purchase through your travel agent or directly from Rail Europe (online or by phone). Tickets can be purchased from 60 to 180 days in advance depending on the route. E-tickets are available on many high speed trains and whenever available for your journey they will be offered as a delivery option online during check-out. Rail passes and activities can be purchased as much as 6 months in advance.

North American Edition
See The Real Europe With Rail Europe
Traveling by train enhances your entire European experience: from genuine interactions with locals to relaxing journeys and no wasted time at airports. With quiet gazing through expansive windows as you’re whisked from city-center to city-center. With varied dining options and no hassles. Is it any wonder trains are so popular? For access to the most choices and best rates, make sure you book in advance because a little bit of planning can mean a lot more traveling.
Simplicity Is In Our DNA
With over 50 different train companies across Europe, it’s much easier for the North American travelers to ride the rails than plan their trip. That’s why we’re here. We offer a unified booking experience across Europe, with the ability to package products from different carriers.
With our roots dating back over 75 years, we have special relationships with rail carriers. These relationships have led to special agreements benefiting our clients, including technology that enables us to offer and sell more rail travel options than any other provider.
It’s simple. With Rail Europe you don’t have to sort out the details, we already have.
Part Of Every Rail Europe View; A Greener Future
The train brings out our best. It’s relaxing. It’s serene. It’s intimate. It opens us to everything the journey has to offer: the simple pleasures of personally connecting with other people and cultures.
We also believe part of that serenity comes from knowing the train is a low-impact form of travel that preserves the authenticity of the regions and natural beauty through which we pass. In fact, high speed trains are three times as energy efficient as regional trains, but even the slowest train is 25% more energy efficient than cars.
For information and reservations, please see your professional travel agent.

Over 75 Years Of European Train Expertise & Always On Track.
I think the best thing about taking the train is that there are a lot of people from all over the place traveling on the train and you meet people from different countries and if you talk to them you learn about their culture. I actually made friends with a fellow traveler from Turkey; I never would’ve done that if I hadn’t taken the train.
