Force2™ shock absorbing lanyard is used when there is no overhead anchorage and your only option is to tie-off at your feet—often faced by iron workers. It can be used for up to a 12’ (3.7m) free fall and limits the arresting forces below OSHA’s limits. It can also be used as a standard lanyard for workers that require a capacity of 311 lbs. to 420 lbs. (141kg to 190kg).

“O-Ring” Extension Option

OSHA regulation 1926.502, Section (d) personal fall arrest systems,

paragraph (6) states that “snap hooks shall not be engaged to a D-ring to

which another snap hook or other connector is attached.” This means a

retractable unit and a lanyard cannot simultaneously be attached to the

same harness back D-ring.

Since it is potentially dangerous, difficult and time-consuming to switch

back and forth from a lanyard to a retractable, the new Miller Lanyard

“O-ring” option solves this concern by allowing the retractable to be

attached to the lanyard O-ring, while the lanyard remains connected to the

back D-ring of the harness. This eliminates the need to continually change

attachment points from a lanyard to a retractable. The placement of the

O-ring is designed so that if a fall occurs, the lanyard shock-absorber will

not engage and the retractable unit will arrest the fall.

The Lanyard O-Ring Extension Option is available on any Miller shock-

absorbing lanyard, single- or double-legged lanyards. To order, add an

“O” as a suffix to the model number (Ex: 913BO; 913SSO).

Horizontal Lifeline Systems

FlexiGuard™ Portable Guard Rail SystemTraditional fall protection is represented by a worker using a PFAS (Personal Fall Arrest System) - full body harness connected to an anchor point with a lanyard. PFAS are actually one of the later choices in a comprehensive fall protection program. The first step should be an attempt to eliminate fall hazards altogether. This may be accomplished with a modification to the job description, work process and/or work area to eliminate the need to work at height. The next step is to use fall prevention systems such as DBI-SALA’s FlexiGuard™ Portable Construction Guardrail system. This system acts as a barrier that prevents personnel from falling to lower levels, thus eliminating the fall hazard. Pour-In-Place SecuraSpan® SystemSecuraSpan® is a horizontal system that installs to column tops providing workers an overhead tie-off point and fall protection during the decking process. Single span or multi-span configurations are available for complete worksite flexibility. The system can be configured to run indefinitely and handle up to 6 workers (2 workers per span max.). Span between intermediates can be as great as 60’ (18m) depending upon your clearance requirements.

RPD - Rescue Positioning DeviceThe RPD system was designed to provide a safe and simple rescue system and incorporates features for general raising/lowering and positioning during normal work activities. The RPD unit includes a speed sensing lock for added safety, as well as to allow the worker to manually lock off the device once you reach a work level. ManSafe overhead systemsWorkers attached to the ManSafe overhead system have both unfettered mobility and continuous, hands-free security whilst working at height. The Latchways’ ManSafe overhead system consist of a length of cable, each end being attached to a structure using Latchways revolutionary Constant Force® technology at one end and a D-ring at the other. The cable is tensioned by Latchways unique tensioning device; single pans can be up to 60 m in length, longer lengths requiring intermediates. Users are connected to the cable by an innovative mobile anchorage in a robust solution that offers outstanding levels of safety, convenience and versatility in virtually any environment. Should a fall occur the cable and Constant Force unit absorb the energy created by the fall ensuring the users fall is safely arrested.

ManSafe horizontal systemsThe concept of the ManSafe overhead system is replicated in the ManSafe horizontal system which is usually fi xed to a structure at shoulder/waist height following the contours of the structure to ensure the worker can access all areas whilst still attached to the system. End fi xings are similar to the ManSafe overhead system; the intermediates are D-rings through which the unique Latchways Transfastener™ will effortlessly pass when the user is on the system.

ManSafe for Oil and GasThe Latchways ManSafe SRL

The ManSafe SRL range of products is unique—Latchways have totally re-engineered the method by which SRLs function, utilising modern design and engineering principles, creating additional safety features. The major benefi t is complete fi eld serviceability reducing product downtime and ownership costs.

Latchways re-engineering is based on a modular design allowing all units to be maintained on-site, without needing to be returned to a service centre during their lifetime. On-site maintenance is possible due to a very simple stainless steel coil mechanism which absorbs the energy in the event of a fall—Constant Force. Also the 100% reliable Full Contact™ pawl locking mechanism creates an audible click which can be felt whilst in use indicating the system is working correctly.

Serviceability is a key consideration when purchasing SRLs.The cable and hook assembly is traditionally the component seeing most wear, so all Latchways units have been developed to enable simple cable replacement in a matter of minutes. Furthermore, if a fall occurs, the energy absorber can easily be replaced, allowing the SRL to be safely returned back to service. Training for this and the other simple service techniques are available free of charge from Latchways avoiding complete factory rebuilds.
