Meet the all-new 2013 Ford Fusion.

More than a new car model. A new model for cars. The 2013 Fusion sets the bar for dramatic, out-of-the-box looks and efficient, out-of-the-ordinary power. No less than 3 new gas engines1 (the naturally aspirated 2.5L Ti-VCT I-4, turbocharged 1.6L EcoBoost I-4 and turbocharged 2.0L EcoBoost I-4), along with 2 new electrified powerplants1 (hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of the 2.0L Atkinson-cycle I-4) are going to move you.

Longer, wider and higher than ever before. Significantly, the wheelbase increases 4.8," which makes for a more confident, athletic stance and for more interior room. By the numbers, this Fusion bests the 2012 model in front head room, front/rear shoulder room, front/rear hip room and front/rear leg room. Adding to its more-room-to-stretch comfort is the exquisite workmanship and premium quality of the materials used in crafting the all-new Ford Fusion.

What Jake Holmes at automobilemag.com thinks: For proof that Ford takes the midsize segment seriously, one need look no farther than the companys quality standards for the new 2013 Fusion sedan.

What Matt Hardigree at jalopnik.com thinks: Taking a page from Ragu, Ford is giving buyers of the 2013 Ford Fusion more choices than they can probably comprehend. Five different powerplants (three gas, hybrid, plug-in hybrid), two transmissions, and FWD/AWD options.

1 Feature availability varies by model. 2Driving while distracted can result in loss of vehicle control. Only use SYNC/MyFord Touch/other devices, even with voice commands, when it is safe to do so. Some features may be locked out while the vehicle is in gear. 3Remember that even advanced technology cannot overcome the laws of physics. Its always possible to lose control of a vehicle due to inappropriate driver input for the conditions.

    Contain your fuel costs.

Efficiency without compromise. While you cant control the cost of fuel, you can control what kind of vehicles consume it. Ford Motor Company has pledged that each new product will be the leader, or among the leaders, in fuel economy without sacrificing performance or capability.

Our exclusive EcoBoost technology is now available on a wide assortment of cars, utilities and trucks. It comes in dual-turbo V6 and single-turbo I-4 configurations. An EcoBoost V6 produces the equivalent horsepower of a V8 with 6-cylinder efficiency, while EcoBoost I-4 variants deliver an impressive performance output with a mere 4-cylinder fuel thirst.

Improve vehicle aerodynamics roughly 6% whenever the vanes of our Active Grille Shutter System close completely. Mounted behind the front grille, this innovative system employs motorized horizontal vanes that can rotate to optimally regulate airflow entering the cooling system and engine compartment. Vanes are managed by the vehicles electronic control unit to automatically adjust from fully open to fully closed, depending on driving conditions.

Our new automatic start/stop2 helps save gas while it helps reduce emissions. The engine shuts off when the vehicle comes to a complete stop, then it seamlessly restarts the moment the brake pedal is released.

Were continuously advancing fuel-saving technologies: Electronic power-assisted steering (EPAS), 6-speed transmissions and twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) all help contribute to efficiency.

    Expand your alternative-fuel portfolio.

Go that extra green mile with ethanol, biodiesel, natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas or electricity. With energy independence ranking as a top priority, we manufacture a wide range of Ford and Lincoln vehicles capable of running on fuels from American sources.

Grow your fleet with E85 and B20 biofuels. Every Ford and Lincoln flexible-fuel vehicle (FFV) is engineered to run on E85 (85% ethanol and 15% gasoline), unleaded gasoline or any blend of the two; ethanol is made primarily from corn, grains or agricultural waste. We also offer compatibility when it comes to biodiesel, which is derived from vegetable oils or animal fats. Built Ford Tough Super Duty pickup and chassis cab models can operate on any blend of up to 20% biodiesel and 80% petroleum diesel (a mix known as B20). Biodiesel and ethanol are cleaner burning and more renewable than conventional fuels.

Thrive with clean-burning CNG and LPG too. If youre looking to cut fuel costs and reduce emissions even further, our compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG consisting primarily of propane) engine prep packages1 are available upfit options. Hardened exhaust valves and valve seats are a couple of the engine modifications that help ensure improved wear resistance for these gaseous fuel systems.

Our 3rd-generation hybrid electric vehicles are powered in part by a gasoline engine, and partly by an electric motor and a high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack.

How our hybrids work. They use available electric-only power at low to moderate acceleration (up to 62 mph), switching seamlessly to the gas engine when needed for additional power. Whenever the brakes are applied, a Regenerative Braking System captures nearly all of the energy normally lostthrough friction converting it to help charge the battery pack while the vehicles in motion.

How our hybrids save. They can deliver significant mpg and emissions improvements compared to conventional vehicles.

How our hybrids fit. Theyre the ideal choice for routes thatrequire a lot of city/highway combination driving traveling at lower speeds will realize the greatest electric-power benefits.

Embrace the full array of electrified vehicles.

Were supplying you with the trifecta of vehicle power. Building on more than a decade of experience with hybrid technologies, Ford Motor Company is creating the future of the electrified vehicle (EV) in your choice of 3 state-of-the-art technologies. Our 6 EVs give you a broad range of power options, helping you realize extremely high fuel-economy figures and exceptionally low CO2 emissions simultaneously. Beyond getting the best of both worlds, youll be doing whats best for the whole wide world.

It just makes sense, especially with the possibility of tax credits. The purchase of our plug-ins and all-electrics makes you eligible for a federal income tax credit of up to $7,500 per vehicle, depending on the capacity of the battery. Many states offer EV purchasers additional inducements, including financial rebates (California, for instance, offers a voucher discount of $15,0001 for the Transit Connect Electric), tax incentives, clean-air emissions testing exemptions, and the use of HOV (high-occupancy vehicle) lanes as a single occupant. Our plug-in hybrid electric vehicles operate like a hybrid, plus the addition of an external charge port and a larger lithium-ion battery pack. This technology team-up helps ensure 100% electric-mode performance at higher speeds for an extended range.

How our plug-in hybrids work. In most situations, they operate in pure electric mode until battery power is nearlydepleted; at that point, theres a smooth switch to gas-engine power. The battery pack is partially charged by the Regenerative Braking System and gasoline engine to ensure a minimum level of power. When parked, the battery pack can be fully charged using a standard 120V wall outlet or a 240V outlet.2

How our plug-in hybrids save. They have the potential for greater efficiency on both the fuel-economy and carbon-emission scales versus conventional hybrids and gas vehicles. Significant savings can be achieved simply by choosing toplug in and fully charge up overnight, during off-peak times.

Featuring an advanced electric motor paired with a unique lithium-ion battery pack, the Focus Electric can travel over 100 MPGe on a full charge, and the top speed can reach up to 84 mph.

How our all-electrics work. They rely on 100% electric power from the battery pack. Charging is as easy as plugging into either a 120V or 240V2 outlet; regenerative braking lends a hand too.

Because electricity is generally cheaper than gas, they can be less costly to operate made even better with the incredibly fast 3- to 4-hour full charging time3 for Focus Electric. Our all-electrics have fewer moving mechanical parts than gas-powered vehicles, meaning scheduled maintenance is nearly eliminated. Achieve your eco-related objectives.

Like you, were committed to developing green solutions as part of our blueprint for sustainability. With Ford Motor Company on your side, you can benefit beyond leaving a smaller carbon footprint. For instance, as part of our commitment to build a better world weve lowered global water use by 62% between 2000 and 2010; now were aggressively targeting an additional 30% decrease per vehicle by 2015. Our emphasis on resource efficiency extends to using lighter, renewable substances in our vehicles. For example, the tropical kenaf plant is mixed with polypropylene to reduce weight in door bolsters on the 2013 Ford Escape saving 300,000 lbs. of oil-based resin annually1 in the process. Those green initiatives go hand-in-hand with our ongoing pledge to reduce, reuse and recycle: What goes into our vehicles at the beginning of their lifecycles and what comes out at the end contribute significantly to environmental responsibility and a healthy planet.

Drivers front airbag2 with tether system

ADAPTIVE AIRBAGS2 help tailor crash protection. Our latest drivers front airbag2 is designed to help reduce pressure on the chest and ribs. It incorporates a curve-shaped tether system that pulls in the lower section to create a pocket for less impact on the driver. Also, advanced front-seat side airbags2 are equipped with shoulder vents to deliver varying levels of pressure based on the occupants size specifically, on how much of the persons shoulder actually blocks the vent.

SOS POST-CRASH ALERT SYSTEM helps notify first responders as soon as possible. In the event of an accident where any airbag2 deploys or a safety belt pretensioner activates, the SOS system automatically sounds the horn 3 times every 4 seconds and flashes hazard lights to help notify passersby of the potential need for assistance. This alert pattern continues until the vehicles battery dies or the system is manually deactivated.3

    Help your drivers avoid crashes.

... NHTSA encourages consumers to purchase vehicles with advanced crash avoidance technologies.1 The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), within the U.S. Department of Transportation, is responsible for reducing deaths, injuries and economic losses resulting from motor-vehicle crashes. Ford Motor Company is a co-leader of the Crash Avoidance Metrics Partnership (CAMP) consortium thats sponsored by NHTSA to advance intelligent vehicle research. When it comes to mitigation or prevention of accidents for you and your team members right now, we offer 4 smart technologies that can truly make a difference.

ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL AND COLLISION WARNING WITH BRAKE SUPPORT2 is designed to help maintain a preset gap from the vehicle in front. If a potential collision is detected, the system flashes a warning across the windshield, sounds an alarm, pre-charges the brakes and increases brake-assist sensitivity to provide full responsiveness when the driver actually does brake.

BLIS (BLIND SPOT INFORMATION SYSTEM) WITH CROSS-TRAFFIC ALERT2 utilizes radar sensors in the rear quarter panels. If a vehicle is detected in the blind spot zone, an amber warning light is activated in the appropriate sideview mirror.3 While slowly backing up, the cross-traffic alert not only issues an amber heads up if it detects a vehicle up to approximately 5 parking spaces away, it also emits a warning sound and displays a message-center signal.

LANE KEEPING SYSTEM2,5 consists of a lane keeping alert and aid, along with a Driver Alert System. If the vehicle drifts, the lane keeping alert informs the driver with a gauge-cluster display and an unmistakable steering-wheel vibration similar to running over rumble strips. The lane keeping aid supplies steering torque to gently nudge the driver to steer the vehicle back in the travel lane. Drowsiness is the domain of the Driver Alert System: It monitors erratic vehicle movement, delivering take-a-break warnings both visually and audibly if inconsistent driving persists.

ADAPTIVE HEADLAMPS WITH AUTO HIGH BEAMS2 can enhance visibility in certain nighttime driving conditions. Based on steering-wheel input and vehicle speed, the motor-driven HID (high-intensity discharge) headlamps swivel when cornering or turning. When no automotive headlamps or taillamps are detected in front, the auto high beams2 activate; they automatically return to the low-beam setting when lights are sensed.

Theres nothing like a healthy dose of our smart technologies. Towing big loads, parking in tight spots, navigating new roads, staying true in curves, backing up, or viewing ahead in stormy weather, weve got your fleet operators covered. Trailer sway control1 automatically reduces engine speed and applies the brakes to help maintain control of both the vehicle and the trailer.2 A factory-integrated trailer brake controller1,3 helps balance the performance of the vehicle brakes and the electric trailer brakes for smooth operation. Smooth is the word for active park assist1 the vehicle literally steers itself into an appropriate parallel parking spot.

Curve Control makes the turns a gripping experience, helping to slow the vehicle by as much as 10 mph in about a second if conditions warrant.1,2 Torque Vectoring Control helps vehicles hug the curves. In addition to Forward and Reverse Sensing Systems,1 theres a rear view camera1 with color-coded distance guides. The full-color big-screen, voice-activated Navigation System1 now delivers enhanced maps with photorealistic images and more 3D landmarks. During inclement weather, ingenious rain-sensing windshield wipers1 automatically handle the activation and speed of the wiping action. When it comes to greater assurance, we clearly see to it.

1 Feature availability varies by model. 2Remember that even advanced technology cannot overcome the laws of physics. Its always possible to lose control of a vehicle due to inappropriate driver input for the conditions. 3Trailer brake controller verified to be compatible with electrically actuated drum brakes and certain electric-over-hydraulic brake systems. Help your drivers stay connected and focused on the job at hand.

THE MAIN TYPES OF DRIVER DISTRACTION:1. Manual taking your hands off the wheel2. Visual taking your eyes off the road

All distractions endanger driver, passenger, and bystander safety. Because text messaging requires visual, manual, and cognitive attention from the driver, its by far the most alarming distraction. Drivers who text are 23 more times likely to get involved in a crash; those who use a hand-held device are 4 times more likely to get into a crash serious enough to cause injury. Sending or reading a text takes your eyes off the road for 4.6 seconds; at 55 mph, thats like driving blindfolded for the length of a football field.

Voice-activated SYNC helps reduce driving distractions. Research1 shows significant differences when comparing voice-controlled interfaces to visually and manually operated hand-held cell phones. Using SYNC2 means no more reaching for that phone: Once paired, SYNC can transfer phone contacts to support voice calling. Just touch a button on the steering wheel and say things like Call the office. SYNC provides audible text messaging, and it plays music from a phone, MP3, USB or iPod. It also offers 911 Assist peace of mind, SYNC AppLink convenience and a detailed Vehicle Health Report (VHR) upon request. Activate a SYNC Services2 account for turn-by-turn driving directions, traffic alerts, business searches, travel services, personalized daily information and much more.

Award-winning SYNC with MyFord Touch2 or MyLincoln Touch2 ensures ultimate control. SYNC Services, an 8" LCD touch screen, 2 LCD screens in the gauge cluster, 5-way controls on the steering wheel and a media hub with USB ports are all included. Improvements for our 2013 models include simpler graphics, faster touch-screen responses and easier-to-use operations. The system can download photos from a personal phone book and display them when a call is received or placed. Track fuel efficiency, adjust cabin temperature and, if necessary, create a Wi-Fi hotspot for passengers. Upgrade to the Navigation System3 to select Fastest, Shortest or Eco Route, and view landmarks in 3D on full-color, interactive maps.

    Encourage smart driving behavior.

Set limits with our award-winning, industry-first MyKey feature thats standard on most Ford and Lincoln vehicles. According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), the average motor vehicle crash can cost an employer $16,500, while an on-the-job crash that results in injury can cost $74,000 obviously, the fatality of an employee or third party is much more costly. Unfortunately, traffic accidents are a leading cause of death for people who operate motor vehicles as part of their job. And NHTSA data shows that speeding is a contributing factor in 30 percent of all fatal crashes.

MyKey can help you better mitigate excessive speed, along with performing numerous other functions. Simply hand your drivers a key thats been specially coded to enforce your specific restrictions; MyKey is easy to program with the vehicles message center acting as guide. Every time that programmed key is used, the system reads its transponder chip and immediately identifies the MyKey code that enables certain default driving modes, including:

Limit top speed to one of 4 settings 65, 70, 75 or 80 mph, with warning chimes sounding at 45, 55 and 65 mph

Prohibit shutoff of important crash-avoidance features (if so equipped), including electronic stability control, traction control, Reverse Sensing System and BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert

Enforce safety belt usage with a persistent reminder that displays a warning, chimes continuously and mutes the audio until the driver and front passenger (when applicable) buckle up

Display an earlier low-fuel warning at 75 miles to empty Send incoming cell phone calls to voicemail (and save texts

for later reading) when hooked up to SYNC Block explicit satellite-radio programming Keep audio volume limited to a maximum of 44% of total output

MyKey took home the 2011 Gold Edison Award in the Transportation Remote Driving Aids Segment.

    Customize through VSO.

Vehicle Special Order (VSO) fulfills your specific needs. VSO provides you with equipment and paint options that arent currently offered through regular or fleet-only production.

New VSO options begin with a VSO Inquiry. Each inquiry is received, reviewed and approved by VSO to ensure the end product is compatible with regular and limited-production options. The end product must also meet Ford Motor Company standards for quality, durability, safety and performance.

To submit a VSO Inquiry, please contact your dealer or leasing company. Inquiry response time takes an average of 8 business days for all vehicle lines except F-650/F-750 Super Duty. Due to the complexity of this vehicle line, the average response time is 20 business days. Inquiry responses include Option Feasibility, Option Pricing and Option Development Timing. If an option request is feasible, engineering development timing may take 10 to 30 days depending on complexity (wiring options may take longer). For VSO Inquiry assistance, please call 1.800.34.FLEET (select 2 for the Fleet Customer Information Center).

VSO production timing varies. Vehicles produced with existing VSO options take an average of 60 to 90 days from order receipt to production. Vehicles produced with new VSO options must include the development timing stated in the VSO Inquiry response. For your planning purposes, VSO production typically begins about a month after Job 1, and then it balances out approximately one month prior to Job Last.

Please visit fleet.ford.com for full VSO details, including: Inquiry Procedure Order Entry Special Paint Color Chart Special Paint Information Pilot Model Inspection Processing Order Alterations and Cancellations

Contact VSO directly at 1.800.34.FLEET. Select 2 for the Fleet Customer Information Center for F-650/F-750 assistance, select 2 and then 3.
