Hats project expands to help veterans tooThe Penn Yan Kiwanis Club’s project of knitting and crocheting hats for kids and babies in area hospitals and schools has expanded. The club has been providing these hats for five years and has expanded its project to provide hats, scarves and gloves or mittens to veterans in area veterans homes. Home Energy Assistance ProgramThe Home Energy As-sistance Program (HEAP) opened Nov. 12 for the regular HEAP benefit com-ponent, and the Emer-
gency component will be available starting Jan. 2, 2020. Many who received the HEAP award last year may have received an early mailing of the appli-cation. This can be turned in at the Pro Action office in Bath, the local Depart-ment of Social Services (DSS), or sent back in through the mail. The on-line application was avail-able beginning Nov.12. Customers can also gain a copy of the application at their local DSS, and at Pro Action office.
