Remembrance Day - Lest We Forget

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month attained a special significance in the post-war years. The moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front became universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the war.

The Terrey Hills Progress Association conducted the Remembrance Day Service and our Year 5/6 students performed the hauntingly beautiful piece ‘Take One Moment in Time’. Thank you to the P&C for donating the wreath that our Captains laid.

Term 4 It is hard to believe we are almost halfway through a busy and exciting Term 4. Our students are addressing the final components of their personal goals. Our Year 6 students are preparing for high school and are creating their final primary school memories. We are welcoming our 2020 Kindergarten students as part of Kindy Orientation. Our staff are busy preparing for the many end of year events, including K-6 picnics, Years 3-6 & K-2 Presentation Assemblies, Thank You Morning Tea, Year 6 Farewell and more.

• The last day of Term 4 for students is Wednesday 18, December.

Reporting to Parents/Carers

Student reports are designed to provide parent/carers with a clear and concise picture of a students’ learning progression. Throughout the semester staff have collaborated to develop common assessment tasks and marking scales to ensure consistency of student assessment. The collation of this information along with a range of assessment evidence teachers have gathered throughout the semester is then used to report to parents/carers.

Teachers are now commencing their work writing students’ Semester Two Reports. As we head towards the end of the year, we have important opportunities to celebrate student growth and achievement not only over the semester but throughout the whole year. Semester Two Reports will be sent home to parents/carers on Friday 13 December.

Leaving our school? Extended holidays? We have now actively commenced the school planning process for 2020. It is very important that we are able to determine an accurate number of school enrolments as this number impacts directly on the classes we form in 2020.

If you have a child enrolled in Years K-5 who will be moving from our school at the end of this year, please write a note or email the school with the details. The same applies if your child will have a delayed start to the new school year due to an extended holiday.

Thank you Morning Tea Please come along on Tuesday 10 December from 11.00am at Ted’s Shed. We would like to thank the many parents/carers and community members who have worked hard to contribute and support the school this year. Look out for your official invitation or just join us on the morning!

Terrey Hills P&C Meeting – Tuesday 19 November The main purpose of the P & C is to support the school to enhance the educational experience of our students. The P&C provides a vital link between parents/guardians and the school and helps create a strong parent and community involvement.

All parents and guardians are invited to attend the meetings which are held in the Staffroom at 7.30pm on the following Tuesdays 19 November and 10 December. 2020 Return to School Dates
