2Asannouncedinthemedia,inlightoftheeconomicimpactoftheCOVID-19situationwhichhascausedfinancialchallengesformanySingaporeans,MajlisUgamaIslamSingapura(MUIS)willbesupportingmosquestoprovidea50%feewaiverfortwomonthsforeachaLIVEmosquemadrasahstudent.The50%feewaiverappliestothemonthlyfeesforMarchandApril2020.

3IfyouhavealreadymadetheschoolfeepaymentforMarch,April2020orsubsequentmonths,the50%waiverfortwomonthsfeeswillbeusedtooffsetthefeesfortheothersubsequentmonthsthatyouhaveyettomakepaymentfor.

4We hope that this partial fee waiver will help ease your financial responsibilities whilstensuring that your child/ children continue to receive Islamic education and support fromasatizahatthemosques.

1. Whyisthe50%feewaiveronlyforMarchandAprilfees?CanitbeusedforothermonthsinsteadasmostparentshavemadepaymentforMarchfees?

The 50% fee waiver for two months is provided to ease parents’ responsibilities whilstensuringthattheirchildrencontinuetoreceiveIslamiceducationandsupportfromasatizahatthemosques.

IfparentshavepaidforMarchand/orAprilschoolfees,the50%feewaiverfortwomonthsshallbeappliedforthesubsequentmonthsthatparentshaveyettomakepayment.

Parents/guardians are also given the option to opt out of the feewaiver and consider theadditionalamountpaidasadonationtothemosque.Parents/guardianswhowishtodosoarerequired to fill out the form onwww.go.gov.sg/alivefeewaiver to indicate their decision todonatethefeewaivertothemosque.

The50%feewaiverfor2020feesshallthenbeappliedtofeesorpaymentsforAY2021.ThewaiveramountwillneverthelessbebasedontheAY2020fees.

3. Can the waiver be refunded instead to parents rather than used to offset fees insubsequentmonths?

FeerefundswillnotbemadeifthestudentcontinuestobeenrolledintheaLIVEprogrammeatthemosqueinsubsequentmonths.Asmostmosquestaffarealsoworkingfromhomeandmosquesremainclosedduringthiscircuitbreakerperiod.

4. SomeparentsarecurrentlypayingfeesviaGIROandhavepaidMarchandApril fees.Howcanthe50%feewaiverforMarchandAprilbeapplied?

AdjustmentstotheGIROdeductionfortwomonthswillbemadebythemosquemadrasahs.IffeedeductionsforMarchandAprilhasbeenmade,the50%feewaiverwillbeappliedtoGIROdeductionforthesubsequenttwomonths.

5. WillstudentswhoreceiveIslamicEducationFundsubsidiesqualifyforthetwomonths50%feewaiver?

Yes,studentswhoareapprovedIEFbeneficiarieswillalsoqualifyforthe50%feewaiver.Forexample, a student receiving IEF who would typically pay $10 of monthly fees after IEFsubsidieswillnowbeeligibletopay50%ofthatamount,or$5forthemonthofMarchandApril.Iftheparent/guardianofthestudenthadmadetheMarchand/orAprilfeespaymentof$10permonth,the$5feewaiverisappliedtothesubsequentmonthsthattheparentshaveyettomakepaymentfor.
