1. Purpose To inform All ASCs of information about Technical Tip. * Before unlocking the device for the customer, you MUST ensure that the device genuinely belongs to the customer. Proof of Purchase must be checked for this reason * 2. Instruction [Preparation] 1. External SD Card (2GB Samsung Card as per the Boot loader recovery instructions) 2. PC 3. FMM Unlock kernel binary (FMM Unlock Kernel binary will be released on HHP Svc.) 4. Samsung official binary (FMM Unlock Kernel Binary must be the same as Rollback Prevention file version see next page) What is Rollback Prevention: RP is the new feature introduced for preventing the downgrade to old software.

[Unlock Process] Part 1: Making the device information file 1-1. Insert external SD Card into the device. 1-2. Enter the device into Download mode (Volume Down + Home + Power) & check

1-3. Download the FMM Unlock Binary into the phone. Please note the version of FMM binary MUST be the SAME as RP SWREV. Below two cases are explained in detail Case 1: RP SWREV is S2, T2, R2, A2, P2

Must use FMM Unlock Kernel binary ending with S2, T2, R2, A2, P2. e.g: Reactivation_unlock_HLTE_EUR_S2_T2_R2_A2_P2.tar

Case 2: RP SWREV is S1_T1_R1_A2_P1

Must use FMM Unlock Kernel binary ending with S1_T1_R1_A2_P1. e.g: FMM_Unlock_kernel_SM-N900W8_NA_BMC.tar.md5 Case 3: RP SWREV is less than BL3 or S2_T2_R2_A2_P2

You must use FMM Unlock Kernel binary 1st version in the table. e.g: FMM_Unlock_kernel_SM-N900W8_NA_BMC.tar.md5 In Case of SM-N900/N9000Q, there is no RP SWREV displayed in download mode. (RP SWREV is expected to be applied from Kit Kat OS upgrade.) Follow below instruction for SM-N900/N9000Q unlock binary download.

1) FMM_Unlock_Kernel_binary_H3G_1533689_REV00_user_mid_noship.tar.md5 to the phone first.

2) If it fails, download Reactivation_unlock_HA3G_EUR_BL3.tar.md5

1-3. After rebooting the device, wait for 20 seconds and check the Setup Wizard (it will still be locked by the Reactivation Lock.)

1-4. Turn off the device and remove external SD Card from the device. 1-5. Insert the micro SD card into the PC & move the Device information file (ft.req) in root directory of SD card to PC. Part 2 : Getting the License file. 1-5. Send Device information file (ft_####...req) to Samsung Tech Supporter to obtain the License file (####...license) (The file is named with the devices IMEI number on #### part so that we can store other req files in the same SD Card.)

To ensure you can keep a track of all devices, please send the IMEI of the device to Samsung Tech Support member so you can review when you get the

information back Part 3 : Unlocking the Reactivation Lock 3-1. Once you receive the License file (####...license) from Samsung Tech Support, save it in to micro SD card and then power on the device. After 20 seconds, check the Setup Wizard.

Please note that the (####...license) file can only be used on one device as it is linked to the device information therefore please keep the information in an organized manner


3-2. At this stage you will see the Samsung Account screen. This indicates that the Reactivation lock has been removed & the device is now unlocked. Tap Skip to continue.

3-3. Download (Flash) Official binary before returning the device to customers. (Device will not work properly with "FMM Unlock Kernel binary")

Appendix 1) How to get access to website for Unlock Certificate 1. To get authority for access to unlock website, below 2 conditions should be qualified. 1) It must be MySingle user 2) MySingle account has to be registered to unlock system. 2. How to register MySingle account to the unlock system 1) If you cannot access this server, firewall registration is needed via IT4U.

(IT4U > IT Service > Firewall Registration Request). Destination IP: 165.213.180.128 (TCP) Port: HTTP (80) 2) If you see "Access not allowed", the following approval process is needed.
