4. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

This section details the method for installation into a vehicle’s aluminium canopy. Other methods of installation may be suitable for different applications. In all cases it is recommended that adequate fasteners including washers are used to ensure the 12V Control Box is securely mounted.

4.1 MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1:

Remove the 12V Control Box from the packaging. Before disposing of packaging check that all items have been supplied (1x 12V Control Box, 1x sticker kit, 1x user manual).

Page 5: 12V CONTROL BOX USER MANUAL - 4WD Supacentre

5

STEP 2:

Unscrew the 4x socket head button screws holding the lid onto the box using a 3mm Allen key.

STEP 3:

Ensure all wiring is connected and no internal terminal studs are loose.

STEP 4:

Mark out the required bolt pattern for mounting the box.

Page 6: 12V CONTROL BOX USER MANUAL - 4WD Supacentre

6

STEP 5:

Drill out the required holes inside the box ensuring drill is kept away from any wiring. In this installation a 6mm drill was used to predrill the holes and the holes were then finished using a 10mm drill. Any aluminium swarf created from drilling should be cleaned out from inside the box.

STEP 6:

Lift the 12V Control Box into the desired position and mark out the mounting hole pattern on the canopy.

7

STEP 7:

Drill out the canopy holes in the marked positions using the same procedure outlined in Step 5.

STEP 8:

Lift the 12V Control Box into the desired location and insert the mounting bolts.

STEP 9:

Tighten the mounting fasteners using nyloc nuts & washers. It is recommended that 4x evenly spaced M10 bolts are used to secure the 12V Control Box. Large washers should be used either side of the bolted joint to ensure the load is spread across a greater area to prevent failure or pull through of the bolt.

STEP 1:

Unscrew the 4x socket head button screws holding the lid onto the box.

STEP 2:

See wiring diagrams below to see which terminal studs to connect the start and auxiliary batteries too.

STEP 3: The input cables from both start and auxiliary batteries should be run through the provided side grommets in the 12V Control Box as seen in the image below. See the specification table for recommended gauge size for battery input cables.

Note: All input cables need to be fused as close as possible to the battery itself. See specifications table for recommended fuse size.

4.2 WIRING INSTRUCTIONS

If you already have a dual battery system please reference Wiring Diagram 1. If you are installing a DC-DC charger and using the 12V Control Box to control a dual battery system, then reference Wiring Diagram 2. For installation of a DCDC charger please refer to the instruction manual supplied with the charger.
