After the congress held in 2011, the 12th edition took place in June 2013 and, from now on, the conference will take place every second year and no longer every third year, as it had been since the first meeting in 1981. PARTICULAR ASPECTS OF 12-ICML PROGRAM The general sessions (1-12) were divided in two broad topics: either the traditional sessions devoted to specific subtypes of lymphoid neoplasias (e.g. Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma, Follicular lymphoma, T-cell lymphomas, etc), and further sessions devoted to the presentation of laboratory and clinical research data grouped around a biologic topic (e.g. microenvironment, signalling pathway, surface antigens, lymphoma epigenome, etc.). These latter sessions were introduced by an expert summarizing the subject. "Focus on..." sessions are meant to better highlight papers of good scientific value but not selected for oral presentation during general sessions. These sessions were run in parallel and each focused on a particular aspect of lymphoma, chosen among the most interesting abstracts being submitted. Clinical discussion sessions are meant for the very many clinicians who do not to attend the "pure science" sessions. Each session has presenters of outstanding centers or cooperative groups (in 2013 we had a “Europe vs US debate”: French LYSA vs Mayo Clinic) addressing cases which are not trivial nor very rare, but rather situations which are relatively commonly encountered but the solutions of which remains controversial. NOVELTIES OF THE PROGRAM 12-ICML 12-ICML presented many novelties in its program. Here the most important ones: Plenary session: a new session that took place just after the Opening of ICML and the Kaplan Lecture. During the Plenary session the 3 best abstracts were presented orally and their relevance discussed by a worldwide known expert. Educational symposia Besides the traditional “Meet the Professor” sessions, 12-ICML also included for the first time two educational symposia (Multiple myeloma, Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma subtypes) during which different speakers highlighted the various aspects of these 2 topics. More space for pediatric oncology: this time more space was devoted to pediatric oncology. Besides the usual pediatric session, a “Meet the Professor” session and a Clinical case discussion devoted to pediatric oncology took place. Special sessions devoted to radiotherapy were organized in collaboration with ILROG (International Lymphoma Radiation Oncology Group): a Satellite Workshop on Modern Radiotherapy for Lymphomas - Concepts and Treatment guidelineswas open to all 12-ICML attendees and a Special Session on Contouring in Modern Lymphoma Radiotherapy Planningwas held for 30 lymphoma radiation oncologists. Poster presentation: the best posters were presented during the 2 lunch breaks of Thursday (Pre-clinical posters) and Friday (Clinical posters).

12th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON MALIGNANT LYMPHOMA Lugano, Switzerland, June 19-22, 2013

12-ICML The International Conference on Malignant Lymphoma is the most important international forum devoted to basic and clinical research into lymphoid neoplasms. After the congress held in 2011, the 12th edition took place in June 2013 and, from now on, the conference will take place every second year and no longer every third year, as it had been since the first meeting in 1981. PARTICULAR ASPECTS OF 12-ICML PROGRAM

The general sessions (1-12) were divided in two broad topics: either the traditional sessions devoted to specific subtypes of lymphoid neoplasias (e.g. NOVELTIES OF THE PROGRAM 12-ICML

12-ICML presented many novelties in its program. Here the most important ones: • Plenary session: a new session that took place just after the Opening of ICML and the Kaplan Lecture. During the

Plenary session the 3 best abstracts were presented orally and their relevance discussed by a worldwide known expert. • Educational symposia

Besides the traditional “Meet the Professor” sessions, 12-ICML also included for the first time two educational symposia (Multiple myeloma, Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma subtypes) during which different speakers highlighted the various aspects of these 2 topics.

• More space for pediatric oncology: this time more space was devoted to pediatric oncology. Besides the usual pediatric

session, a “Meet the Professor” session and a Clinical case discussion devoted to pediatric oncology took place.

• Special sessions devoted to radiotherapy were organized in collaboration with ILROG (International Lymphoma Radiation Oncology Group): a Satellite Workshop on “Modern Radiotherapy for Lymphomas - Concepts and Treatment guidelines” was open to all

12-ICML attendees and a Special Session on “Contouring in Modern Lymphoma Radiotherapy Planning” was held for

30 lymphoma radiation oncologists.

• Poster presentation: the best posters were presented during the 2 lunch breaks of Thursday (Pre-clinical posters) and Friday (Clinical posters).
