PART -A : COMMITTEES AS PER UNIVERSITY ORDINANCES

1. University Building Committee:

The constitution of University Building Committee has been made as per Ordinance 24 andduly approved by the Executive Council vide item no. 12-3.4.

Functions:• be responsible for finalizing the Plans and Estimates of the various Building Projects

approved by the UGC, or other funding Agencies, and for proper utilization of theGrants received from the UGC etc;

• be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the University Buildings;• Assess the cost of repairs, additions, alteration and demolition of the University

Buildings annually and prepare the Budget for the same to be submitted for approval ofthe Executive Council.

2. Purchase Committee

The constitution of Purchase committee has been made as per the University Ordinance 25.

• Opening the tender (only for purchase ofmaterialiequipments), Technical Evaluation ofthe proposals, recommend the successful proposal for approval to the competentauthority.

3. Sexual Harassment Committee

The constitution of Sexual Harassment committee has been made as per the UniversityOrdinance 21.

(A) Apex Body of SPARSH (ABS): The ABS shall aim to sensitize and work to preventsexual harassment in the University. The ABS committee shall consist of the followingmembers, who will be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor:

(B) University Complaints Committee (UCC): The UCC shall consider complaints regardingsexual harassment, and will conduct enquiries, suggesting suitable action. The Vice-Chancellorshall nominate the members of UCC from among the members of the Apex Committee. Itshall comprise of following:

The constitution of Grievance Redressal committee has been made as per the UniversityOrdinance 28.

6. Equivalence Committee for Recognition of Examinations/Degrees:

The constitution of Equivalence Committee has been made as per the University Ordinance 38.

The Committee may invite a domain expert, wherever necessary to assist it in its functioning.

Functions:• to examine and recommend to the Academic Council equivalence of such

examinations/degrees as may be referred to it from time to time including those offoreign Universities.

• to examine and recommend to the Academic Council the withholding, suspension orcancellation! recognition to any examination!degree for such reasons and such time as itmay deem fit.

• to report to the Academic Council on all matters, which are referred to it;• to consider requests for recognition of Examinations received from other Universities

and Institutions and submit its recommendations to the Academic Council; and• to prepare a case of moving application for seeking recognition of Degrees/Diplomas

and Certificates awarded by the University equivalent to the corresponding Degrees,Diplomas and Certificates of Universities and other institutions within and outside thecountry.

Not less than half the total number of members of the Committee shall constitute the quorumfor a meeting of the Committee.

7. DEANS' COMMITTEE:

The constitution of Deans' committee has been made as per the University Ordinance 42.

Members:The Vice-Chancellor- Chairperson (Ex -Officio) Vice-ChancellorAll Deans of Schools - Members (Ex -Officio) All Deans of SchoolsRegistrar - Secretary Registrar

Functions:• To recommend deputation ofteachers for International Conferences;• To consider such matters as may be necessary arising from the conduct of

examinations, standard of results, etc;• To consider general administrative matters relating to functioning of Schools and

Departments; and• To consider such other matters as may be assigned to it by the Executive Councilor

may be referred to by the Vice-Chancellor.

1. The meetings of the Deans' Committee shall be convened by the Chairperson.2. The quorum of the Committee shall be 1I3rd ofthe total number.

Note: The University Deans' Committee will also perform the work of Academic Committeeand Examination Committee of the University.

(ii) Examination Committee:• Organizing Workshop regarding' Process of Examination' .• Preparation and printing of Prospectus, Various Forms related to examination etc.• Preparation and conduction of mid semester exams as per guidelines• Appointment of External Examiners in Departments where practical exams are

required.• Evaluation of answer books and declaration of results on timely basis.• Procurement/Printing of required stationery for examination purpose.• Maintenance of examination and secrecy records.• Automation for examination section.

8. ADMISSION COMMITTEE:

The constitution of Admission Committee has been made as per the University Ordinance 45.

Functions:• scrutinize the Application Forms for admission of the candidates in accordance with the

conditions of admission prescribed by the Academic Council from time to time;• conduct the Admission Test(s) and/or Interview; or as otherwise provided.• however in case of Common Entrance test, the performance in such test will form the

basis for subsequent admission process.• after the evaluation of the Admission testes), a reasonable number of candidates from

each category will be called, on the basis of merit, for admission to thecourse/Programme concerned subject to their scoring the minimum cut-off marks in theentrance test for admission to different courses as prescribed by the Academic Council:

• prepare the merit list based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the AdmissionTest and/or Interview;

• prepare a list of the candidates selected for admission to be submitted by the Chairmanof the Committee to the Dean of the School concerned;

• Suggest methods to improve reliability and standard of the entrance testes).

9. Examination Discipline Committee

The constitution of Examination Discipline Committee shall be as per the UniversityOrdinance 54.

There shall be a five members committee from amongst the teachers and officers of theUniversity to be appointed by the Vice-Chancellor. One member will be nominated asChairman from amongst them by the Vice-Chancellor.

• The Examination Discipline Committee may recommend the punishment for cases ofunfair means by the students as per the University Ordinance 54.

10. CENTRAL COMMITTEE ON RESIDENCE

As per the University Ordinance 27

• The supervision and control of the Hall of Residence is vested in the Vice Chancellor.The Chief Warden will assist the Vice Chancellor in performing his function with thehelp of a Central Committee on Residence.

• The Central Committee shall be appointed by the Vice Chancellor or by such person hemay specify on his behalf and shall comprise the following:

• Dean, Students' Welfare,• Chief Warden,• Director Sports, and• 3 Wardens of Halls of Residence maintained by the University by rotation.

• The term of office of the Central Committee shall be two years in the first instance.

• The functions of the Committee shall be as follows:• Management, selection and admission of students to the University Halls of

Residence.Supervision of the Halls of Residence and advice University on matters ofpolicy, etc; relating to their management;

• Maintenance of discipline amongst the resident students;• Transfer of a student from one Hall to another; and• Such other duties as may be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor.

11. Students' Welfare Committee
