Fruit served with all breakfasts; choice bar served with all lunches. Milk served with all meals. Jacob Larue Jacob is the son of Bruce and Marianne Larue. He has one sister, Annamarie. After he graduates from high school, Jacob plans to attend Butler Community College to study plant science. Jacob’s hobbies are sports and calculus. His favorite movie is “A Team,” and his favorite song is “Hard Hat and a Hammer.” “The Defense Never Rests” is his favorite book. Jacob has been involved in foot- ball, wrestling, vocal, DCHS Sing- ers, Men in Black, National Honor Society, Student Council, TACT, Drama Club, and speech. A short-term goal of Jacob’s is to graduate high school and go to college. A long-term goal is to get a commercial pilot license and an associate degree in science. In ten years, Jacob hopes to be back in Oberlin, working as an aerial sprayer. Jacob says he will miss the small classes and school when he grad- uates. His advice to the under- classmen is to “devote yourself to school.” Laysha Medina Laysha plans to study nursing at Colby Community College in the fall. She is the daughter of Brice and Darci Meitl, and she has one sister, Faith Meitl. In ten years, Laysha hopes to be living in the mountains, working as a flight nurse. She also hopes to be married with kids. Laysha’s hobbies are reading, listening to music, writing poetry, and spending as much time as pos- sible with friends. While in high school, she has been involved in TACT, Drama Club, speech, Kays, Chemistry/Physics Club, Chante, Spanish Club, Scholar Bowl and journalism. Her favorite movie is “Foot- loose.” Her favorite song is “If Everyone Cared” by Nickelback, and her favorite book is “Unwind” by Neal Shusterman. Laysha’s short-term goal is grad- uate high school and college, and her long-term goal is to have a stable, fulfilling career and a healthy family. She will miss her friends and fam- ily the most after she graduates. Her advice for the underclassmen is to “ always be accepting of skeptic’s criticism, but never lose sight of who you are. It’s important to re- member what’s in your heart.” Lacy Misek Lacy is the daughter of Gailen and Dorothy Misek. She has one sister, Sarah. Her advice for the underclassmen is “If you get bullied, just walk away and be the better person, and let your dreams take you where want to be.” Lacy plans to attend Colby Com- munity College in the fall and study agriculture economics and animal science. In ten years, she wants to have a family and a good-paying job. Her hobbies are riding horses and spending time with her boyfriend. While in high school, she has been involved in FFA and music. Lacy’s favorite movie is “Coun- try Strong,” and her favorite song is Brad Paisley’s “This is Country Music.” Her favorite books are the Montana Creed series. What will she miss most about DCHS? Lacy says she will miss her friends and talking to the teachers. Tim Larson Tim Larson is the son of Da- vid and Belinda Larson. He has one older brother, Chris, and one younger sister, Emily. Tim plans to attend Fort Hays State University and study zoology. In ten years, he hopes to be working in the field and researching or con- ducting research at a major zoo. His hobbies are horseback riding and working. While at DCHS, Tim has been involved in pep band, jazz band, speech, Chemistry/Physics Club, Scholar Bowl, Spanish Club, and TACT. Tim’s favorite movie is “Resident Evil.” His favorite song is “White Rabbit” by Egypt Central, and his favorite book is “Jurassic Park” by Michael Crichton. A short-term goal of Tim’s is to finish his anthology, and a long- term goal is to become a published author. “Be yourself, not who others want you to be” is his advice for the underclassmen. The 2011-2012 Junior High Stu- dent Council officers were chosen last week during the 6th grade orientation. Next year’s Stuco president will be Caitlin Gault. Kade Grafel will be the vice president, and Emily Larson will be the secretary. The treasurer will be Kelly Brown. The sixth and seventh graders voted for the officers. Leading next year’s high school student council will be Serena Stacy, president, and Nolan Hen- ningson, vice president.
