CAN I MAKE MONEY WITH A 12” SHAVING MILL?
1 – Cubic Yard of Shavings Weighs 135 lbs. 1 – Ton = 2,000 lbs. ÷ 135 = 14.8 Cubic Yards per Ton If you sell shavings for $10 per cubic yard you will gross $148 per ton of wood.
Our 12” Shaving Mill produces 8 Cubic Yards of shavings per hour, so you can expect to use approximately 1,000 lbs. of wood per hour. If you run the mill 8 hours a day, you will make 64 yards of shavings. You would have used 5.4 tons of wood during the day. If your cost for wood is $30 per ton, your cost of wood would be $162.00 per day.
