Personal protective equipment

IMPORTANT! Whenever you use a clear-ing saw, brushcutter or trimmer you mustwear personal protective equipment that isapproved by the authorities. Personalprotective equipment does not eliminatethe risk of accidents, but it can reduce theeffects of an injury in the event of an acci-dent. Ask your dealer for help whenchoosing protective equipment.

WARNING: Listen out for warn-ing signals or shouts when you arewearing hearing protection. Alwaysremove your hearing protection assoon as the engine stops.

GLOVES

Gloves should be worn when necessary,e.g., when fitting cutting attachments.

HEARING PROTECTION

Wear hearing protection that providesadequate noise reduction.

EYE PROTECTIONAlways wear approved eye protection. Ifyou use a visor then you must also wearapproved protective goggles. Approvedprotective goggles must comply withstandard ANSI Z87.1.

BOOTSWear sturdy, non-slip boots.

CLOTHINGWear clothes made of a strong fabric andavoid loose clothing that can catch ontwigs and branches. Always wear heavy,long pants. Do not wear jewelry, shortssandals or go barefoot. Secure hair so it isabove shoulder level.

Always have a first aid kit nearby.

Throttle lock-out

The throttle lock-out is designed to preventaccidental operation of the throttle control.When you press the lock-out (A) (i.e. whenyou grasp the handle) it releases thethrottle control (B). When you release thehandle the throttle control and the throttle

lock-out both move back to their originalpositions. This movement is controlled bytwo independent return springs. This ar-rangement means that the throttle control isautomatically locked at the idle setting.

Cutting attachment guardThis guard is intended to prevent loose ob-jects from being thrown towards the opera-tor. The guard also protects the operatorfrom accidental contact with the cutting at-tachment.

attachment without an approvedguard. See the section on "Technicaldata". If an incorrect or faulty guardis fitted this can cause serious

personal injury.

Use of incorrectly wound trimmer line or anincorrect cutting attachment increases thelevel of vibration.

WARNING: Overexposure tovibration can lead to circulatorydamage or nerve damage in peoplewho have impaired circulation.Contact your doctor if you experi-enca symptoms of overexposure tovibration. Such symptoms includenumbness, loss of feeling, tingling,pricking, pain, loss of strength,changes in skin color or condition.These symptoms normally appearin the fingers, hands or wrists. Therisk increases at low temperatures.

MufflerThe muffler is designed to reduce the noiselevel and to direct the exhaust gases awayfrom the operator.

CAUTION! Muffler is fitted with a catalyticconverter designed to reduce harmful ex-haust gases.

For mufflers, it is very important that you fol-low the instructions on checking, maintain-ing, and servicing your machine.See Checking, maintaining and servicing themachine's safety equipment section.

& WARNING: Mufflers fitted with

catalytic converters get very hotduring use and remain so for sometime after stopping. This also ap-plies at idle speed. Contact can re-sult in burns to the skin. Rememberthe risk of fire!

Engine exhaust fumes contain car-bon monoxide, which can causecarbon monoxide poisoning. Throttle lock-out• Make sure the throttle control is locked

at the idle setting when the throttle lock-out is released.

• Press the throttle lock-out and makesure it returns to its original positionwhen you release it.

• Check that the throttle control and

throttle lock-out move freely and that the

return springs work properly.

• See instructions under the section"Start". Start the machine and apply fullthrottle. Release the throttle and checkthat the cutting attachment stops and re-mains at a standstill. If the cutting attach-ment rotates with the throttle in the idleposition then the carburetor idle settingmust be checked. See instructions underthe section "Maintenance".

Stop switch• Start the engine and make sure the engine

stops when you push and hold the stopswitch.

Cutting attachment guard

• Ensure that the guard is undamaged andis not cracked.

• Replace the guard if it has been exposedto impact or is cracked.

• Always use the recommended guard forthe cutting attachment you are using. Seesection on "Technical data".

Muffler

• Never use a machine that has a faultymuffler.

@• Regularly check that the muffler is securely

attached to the machine.

• The muffler on this unit is equipped with aspecial spark arrestor mesh. The meshshould be checked and, if necessary.cleaned by a servicing dealer. A blockedmesh will cause the machine to overheat,which can lead to serious damage. Neveruse a muffler with a defective spark arres-tor mesh. See the Maintenance section.

Cutting equipmentThis section describes how to choose andmaintain your cutting equipment in order to:• Obtain maximum cutting performance.• Extend the life d cutting equipment.

General rules:

1. Only use cutting attachments with theguards we recommend! See the sectionon "Technical Data".

2. Check the cutting attachment for damageor cracks. A damaged cutting attachmentshould always be replaced.

Trimmer head

• Only use the recommended cutting at-tachments. See the section on "Technicaldata".

• Smaller machines generally require smalltrimmer heads and vice versa. This is be-

cause when clearing using trimmer linethe engine must throw out the trimmerline radially from the trimmer head andovercome the resistance of the grassbeing cleared.

• The length of the trimmer line is also im-portant. A longer trimmer line requiresgreater engine power than a shortertrimmer line of the same diameter.

• Make sure that the cutter on the trimmer

guard is intact. This is used to cut thetrimmer line to the correct length.

• To increase the life of the trimmer line itcan be soaked in water for a couple ofdays. This will make the line tougher sothat it lasts longer.

WARNING: Never use a machinewith faulty safety equipment. Themachine's safety equipment must bechecked and maintained asdescribed in this section.If your machine fails any of thesechecks contact your service agent to

• The only accessories you can operatewith this engine unit are the cutting at-tachments we recommend in the "Tech-nical data" section.

• Never use wire, rope, string, etc.

• Never use the machine if you are tired, ifyou have drunk alcohol, or if you are tak-ing medication that could affect your vi-sion, your judgment or your coordination.

• Never use the machine in extreme weath-

er conditions such as severe cold, very hotand/or humid climates.

• Never use a machine that has been modi-

fied in any way from its original specifica-tion.

• Wear personal protective equipment. Seeinstructions in the "Personal protectiveequipment" section.

• Never use a machine that is faulty. Carryout the checks, maintenance and serviceinstructions described in this manual.Some maintenance and service measures

must be carried out by trained and quali-fied specialists. See instructions in the"Maintenance" section.

• All covers and guards must be fitted beforestarting. Make sure the spark plug cap andlead are not damaged. Otherwise youcould get an electric shock.

• The machine operator must ensure thatno people or animals come closer than50 feet (15 meters) while working.

• Stay clear of spinning line.

• Secure or remove loose clothing or cloth-ing with loosely hanging ties, straps, tas-sels, etc. They can be caught in movingparts.

• Being fully covered also helps protect youfrom debris and pieces of toxic plantsthrown by spinning line.

• Keep handles free of oil and fuel.

• Always keep the engine on the right handside of your body.

• Hold the unit firmly with both hands.• Keep trimmer head below waist level and

away from all parts of your body. Do notraise engine above your waist.

• Keep all parts of your body away frommuffler and spinning line. Keep engine be-low waist level. A hot muffler can causeserious burns.

• Keep firm footing and balance. Do notoverreach or use from unstable surfacessuch as ladders, trees, steep slopes, roof-tops, etc.

• Use only in daylight or good artificial light.• Use only for jobs explained in this manual.

WARNING: A faulty cutting at- ]tachment may increase the risk ofaccidents.

surroundings• Never allow children to use the machine.• Ensure no one comes closer than 50 feet

machine without first ensuring that theyhave understood the contents of theoperator's manual.

Safety instructions before startingwork

• Inspect the working area. Remove anyobjects such as stones, broken glass,nails, steel wire, string, etc. that can bethrown or can wrap around the cuttinghead or shaft.

• Keep others at a safe distance. Children,animals, onlookers and helpers shouldstand outside of the safety zone of 50feet (15 meters). Bystanders should beencouraged to wear safety glasses. Stopthe machine immediately if anyoneshould approach.

• Check the entire machine before startingwork. Replace damaged parts. Check forfuel leakage and that all safety guardsand covers are complete and fastenedsecurely. Check all nuts and bolts.

• Check that the trimmer head and guardare correctly secured.

• When adjusting the carburetor, make surethe lower end is supported and that no oneis in the immediate vicinity.

• Make sure the cutting head does not rotatewhen idling.

• Make sure the handle and safety featuresare in order. Never use a machine that hasparts missing or has been changed inrelation to the specification.

• Only use the machine for the purpose forwhich it was intended.

Starting

WARNING: When the isengine

started with the choke in either the

choke or start throttle positions thecutting attachment will start torotate immediately.

• Ensure that all of the engine covers andhousings are properly fitted before the unitis started.

• Never start or attempt to run the unit withthe clutch, clutch drum, clutch cover, ordriveshaft removed.

• Never start the machine indoors. Exhaust

fumes can be dangerous if inhaled.• Observe your surroundings and make sure

that there is no risk of people or animalscoming into contact with the cutting equip-ment.

• See the "Starting and Stopping" section forcomplete instructions.

Fuel safety

• Always use a fuel container with an anti-spill valve.

• Never refuel the machine while the engineis running.

• Always stop the engine and let it cool for afew minutes before refueling.

• Make sure there is plenty of ventilationwhen refueling or mixing fuel (gasoline and2-stroke oil).

• Move the machine at least 10 feet (3 me-ters) from the refueling point before start-

• Never start the machine:• If you have spilled fuel on it. Wipe off

the spillage and allow remaining fuel toevaporate.

• If you have spilled fuel on yourself oryour clothes, change your clothes. Washany part of your body that has come incontact with fuel. Use soap and water.

• If the machine is leaking fuel. Checkregularly for leaks from the fuel capand fuel lines.

• Avoid all skin contact with fuel. Fuel isa skin irritant and may even causeskin changes.

Transporting and storage• Store and transport the machine and fuel

so that there is no risk of any leakage orfumes coming into contact with sparks ornaked flames, for example, from electri-cal machinery, electric motors, electricalrelays/switches or boilers.

• When storing and transporting fuel al-ways use approved containers intendedfor this purpose.

• When storing the machine for long peri-ods the fuel tank must be emptied. Con-tact your local gas station to find outwhere to dispose of excess fuel.

WARNING: Take care when han- ]dling fuel. Bear in mind the risk offire, explosion and inhaling fumes.

General working instructions

IMPORTANT!This section describes the basic safety pre-cautions for working with trimmers. If youencounter a situation where you are uncer-tain how to proceed you should ask an ex-pert. forestry clearing, grass clearing and grasstrimming before use.

• To ensure that people, animals, etc.,do not come into contact with the cut-ting attachment or loose objects thatare thrown out by the cutting attach-ment.

• CAUTION! Do not use the machineunless you are able to call for help inthe event of an accident.

2. Do not use the machine in bad weather,such as dense fog, heavy rain, strongwind, intense cold, etc. Working in badweather is tiring and often brings addedrisks, such as icy ground, unpredictablefelling direction, etc.

3. Make sure you can move and stand safely.Check the area around you for possible ob-stacles (roots, rocks, branches, ditches, etc.)in case you have to move suddenly. Takegreat care when working on sloping ground.

4. Switch off the engine before moving toanother area.

5. Never put the machine down with the enginerunning.

Basic working techniques• Always slow the engine to idle speed after

each working operation. Long periods atfull throttle without any load on the enginecan lead to serious engine damage.

• It is recommended that the engine notbe operated for longer than 1 minute atfull throttle.

Grass trimming using a trimmer head

Trimming

QOO• Hold the trimmer head just above the

ground at an angle. It is the end of the trim-mer line that does the work. Let the trim-

mer line work at its own pace. Never pressthe trimmer line into the area to be cut.

• The trimmer line can easily remove grassand weeds up against walls, fences, treesand borders, however it can also damagesensitive bark on trees and bushes, anddamage fence posts.

• Reduce the risk of damaging plants byshortening the trimmer line to 4-4 1/2 inches(10-12 cm) and reducing the engine speed.

• When trimming you should use less thanfull throttle so that the trimmer line lasts

longer and to reduce the wear on thetrimmer head.

Clearing

QOO• The clearing technique removes all un-

wanted vegetation. Keep the trimmerhead just above the ground and tilt it. Letthe end of the trimmer line strike theground around trees, posts, statues andthe like. CAUTION! This techniqueincreases the wear on the trimmer line.

• The trimmer line wears quicker and mustbe fed forward more often when workingagainst stones, brick, concrete, metalfences, etc., than when coming into con-tact with trees and wooden fences.

Cutting

Q00• The trimmer is ideal for cutting grass that

is difficult to reach using a normal lawnmower. Keep the trimmer line parallel tothe ground when cutting. Avoid pressingthe trimmer head against the ground asthis can ruin the lawn and damage thetool.

Do not allow the trimmer head to con-stantly come into contact with the groundduring normal cutting. Constant contactof this type can cause damage and wearto the trimmer head.

• The fan effect of the rotating line can beused for quick and easy clearing up,Hold the trimmer line parallel to andabove the area to be swept and movethe tool to and fro.

• When cutting and sweeping you shoulduse full throttle to obtain the best results.

WARNING: Neither the operatorof the machine nor anyone else mayattempt to remove the cut materialwhile the engine is running or thetrimmer line is rotating, as this canresult in serious injury. Stop theengine and trimmer head before youremove material that has woundaround the drive shaft as otherwise

there is a risk of injury. The bevelgear can get hot during use and mayremain so for a while afterwards. You

could get burned if you touch it.

WARNING: Watch out for thrown

objects. Always wear eye protection.Never lean over the cutting attach-ment guard. Stones, rubbish, etc.can be thrown up into the eyescausing blindness or serious injury.

Keep unauthorized persons at a dis-tance. Children, animals, onlookersand helpers should be kept outsidethe safety zone of 50 feet (15 meters).Stop the machine immediately ifanyone approaches.

NOTE: Make sure unit is assembled cor-

rectly as shown in this manual.

Fitting the loop handle• Position the handle on the upper shaft.

Note that the handle must be mountedbetween the two arrows on the shaft.

• Fit the screw, securing plate and wingnut as shown in the diagram.

• Tighten the wing nut.

Assembling and dismantlingthe two-piece shaft

Assembly:• Loosen the coupling by turning the knob.

• Position locking/release button (A) ofattachment into guide recess (B) ofcoupling.

B• Push the attachment into the coupling

until the locking/release button snapsinto the primary hole (C).

• Before using the unit, tighten the knobsecurely.

I& WARNING: All attachments are

designed to be used in the primaryhole unless otherwise stated in the

applicable attachment instructionmanual. Using the wrong hole couldlead to serious injury or damage tothe unit,

Dismantling:• Loosen the coupling by turning the knob.

Press and hold the locking/release but-ton (A).While securely holding the engine andupper shaft, pull the attachment straightout of the coupling.

Fitting the trimmer guard andtrimmer head (Model 128LD)

• Fit the correct trimmer guard (D) for usewith the trimmer head. Hook the trimmer

guard/combination guard onto the fittingon the shaft and secure with the bolt (E).

• Fit the drive disc (F) on the output shaft.• Turn the shaft until one of the holes in the

drive disc aligns with the correspondinghole in the gear housing.

• Insert hex wrench (G) in the hole to lockthe shaft.

• Screw on the trimmer head (H) in the op-posite direction to the direction of rota-tion.

• To dismantle, follow the instructions inthe reverse order.

Fitting the trimmer guard andtrimmer head (Model 128CD)

0• Fit the correct trimmer guard (A) for use

with the trimmer head. Hook the trimmerguard/combination guard onto the fitting onthe shaft and secure with the wing nut (B).

FUEL HANDLING

Fuel mixtureCAUTION! The machine is equipped witha two-stroke engine and must always berun using a mixture of gasoline and two-stroke engine oil. It is important to accu-rately measure the amount of oil to bemixed to ensure that the correct mixture is

obtained. When mixing small amounts offuel, even small inaccuracies can drastical-ly affect the ratio of the mixture.

&WARNING: Always ensurethere is adequate ventilation whenhandling fuel.

Gasoline

CAUTION! Always use high qualityunleaded gasoline.

• This engine is certified to operate onunleaded gasoline.

• The lowest recommended octane ratingis 87. If you run the engine on lower oc-tane rating than 87, "knocking" can oc-cur. This leads to an increased enginetemperature, which can result in a seri-ous engine breakdown.

• When working at continuous high revs ahigher octane rating is recommended.

Two-stroke oil

• For great results and performance useHUSQVARNA two-stroke oil, which isspecially formulated for our two-strokeengines. Mixture 1:50 (2%).

• To maximize the life of your trimmer, youmay choose to use a high quality syn-thetic oil formulated for two-strokeengines. Mixture 1:50 (2%).

• Never use two-stroke oil intended for

water-cooled outboard engines,sometimes referred to as outboard oil.

• Never use oil intended for four-stroke

Mixing• Always mix the gasoline and oil in a

clean container intended for fuel.

• Always start by filing half the amount of thegasoline to be used. Then add the entireamount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture.Add the remaining amount of gasoline.

• Mix (shake) the fuel mixture thoroughlybefore filling the machine's fuel tank.

• Do not mix more than one month's sup-ply of fuel at a time.

• If the machine is not used for some time,the fuel tank should be emptied andcleaned.

Fueling

• Inspect the unit before each use. Re-place damaged parts. Check for fuelleaks. Make sure all fasteners are in

place and secure. Make sure the cuttingattachment is properly installed and se-curely fastened. Use only flexible, non-metallic line recommended by themanufacturer. Never use, for example,wire or wire rope, which can break offand become a dangerous projectile.

• Check that the trimmer head and trimmer

guard are not damaged or cracked.Replace the trimmer head or trimmerguard if they have been exposed toimpact or are cracked.

• Never use the machine without a guardnor with a defective guard.

Starting and stopping

QOOWARNING: The complete clutch,clutch cover, and shaft must befitted before the machine is started,otherwise parts could come looseand cause personal injury.Always move the machine awayfrom the refueling area beforestarting. Place the machine on aflat surface. Ensure the cutting at-tachment cannot come into contact

CarburetorYour Husqvarna product has been designedand manufactured to specifications that re-duce harmful emissions. After the enginehas used 8-10 tanks of fuel, the engine willbe run-in. To ensure that it continues to run

at peak performance and to minimize harm-ful exhaust emissions after the run-in peri-od, ask your servicing dealer to adjust yourcarburetor.

&WARNING: The complete clutch,

clutch cover, and shaft must befitted before the machine is started,otherwise parts could come looseand cause personal injury.

Function

• The carburetor governs the engine'sspeed via the throttle control. Air and fuelare mixed in the carburetor.

• The T-screw regulates the throttle settingat idle speed. If the T-screw is turnedclockwise this gives a higher idle speed;turning it counterclockwise gives a loweridle speed.

Basic setting• The basic carburetor settings are ad-

justed during testing at the factory. Fineadjustment should be carried out by askilled technician.

CAUTION! If the cutting attachment rotateswhen the engine is idling the idle adjustmentscrew T should be turned counterclockwise

until the cutting attachment stops.

Fine adjustment of the idle speed-TAdjust the idle speed using the idle adjust-ment screw-T if it is necessary to readjust.First, turn the idle adjustment screw-Tclockwise until the cutting attachment startsto rotate. Then, turn the screw counterc-lockwise until the cutting attachment stops.

The idle speed is correctly adjusted whenthe engine will run smoothly in every posi-tion. The idle speed should also be wellbelow the speed at which the cutting at-tachment starts to rotate.

Idle SpeedScrew-T

WARNING: If the idle speed can-not be adjusted so that the cuttingattachment stops, contact your ser-vicing dealer. Do not use the ma-chine until it has been correctly ad-justed or repaired.

Unit/Maintenance SafetyDisconnect the spark plug before perform-ing maintenance, except carburetor adjust-ments.

Muffler

CAUTION! Muffler is fitted with a catalyticconverter designed to reduce harmful ex-haust gases.

The muffler is designed to reduce the noiselevel and to direct the exhaust gases awayfrom the operator. The exhaust gases arehot and can contain sparks, which maycause fire if directed against dry and com-bustible material.

Mufflers are equipped with a special sparkarrestor mesh. The mesh should bechecked and, if necessary, cleaned by aservicing dealer. If the mesh is damaged,it should be replaced. If the mesh is fre-quently blocked, this can be a sign that theperformance of the catalytic converter isimpaired. Contact your servicing dealer toinspect the muffler. A blocked mesh willcause the machine to overheat and resultin damage to the cylinder and piston.

Forthis reason you should not start orrun the machine indoors, or any-where that is poorly ventilated.The exhaust fumes from the engineare hot and may contain sparkswhich can start a fire, Never startthe machine indoors or near com-bustible material!

Spark plug

The spark plug condition is influenced by:• Incorrect carburetor adjustment.• An incorrect fuel mixture (too much or in-

correct type of oil).• A dirty air filter.These factors cause deposits on the sparkplug electrodes, which may result in operat-ing problems and starting difficulties.If the machine is low on power, difficult tostart or runs poorly at idle speed: alwayscheck the spark plug first before takingany further action. If the spark plug is dirty,clean it and check that the electrode gap is0.024" (0.6 mm). The spark plug should bereplaced after about a month in operation orearlier if necessary.

CAUTION! Always use the recommendedspark plug type! Use of the wrong sparkplug can damage the piston/cylinder.

Two-piece shaft

The drive shaft end in the lower shaft

should be lubricated with grease every 30hours. There is a risk that the drive shaft

ends (splined coupling) will seize if theyare not lubricated regularly.

Air filter

The air filter must be regularly cleaned toremove dust and dirt in order to avoid:• Carburetor malfunctions

• Starting problems• Loss of engine power• Unnecessary wear to engine parts• Excessive fuel consumption

Clean the filter every 25 hours, or moreregularly if conditions are exceptionallydusty.

Cleaning the air filterRemove the air filter cover and take out the

filter. Wash it clean in warm, soapy water.Rinse thoroughly. Ensure that the filter is drybefore refitting it.An air filter that has been in use for a longtime cannot be cleaned completely. Thefilter must therefore be replaced with a newone at regular intervals. A damaged airfilter must always be replaced,

Bevel gear (128LD)

The bevel gear is filled with the right quantityof grease at the factory. However, beforeusing the machine you should checkthat the bevel gear is filled three-quartersfull with grease. Use HUSQVARNA specialgrease.

The grease in the bevel gear does not nor-mally need to be changed except if repairsare carried out.

Maintenance scheduleBelow you will find some general mainte-nance instructions.

Daily maintenance• Check throttle trigger and throttle trigger

lockout function.

• Check that the stop switch workscorrectly.

• Check that there are no fuel leaks from

the engine, tank or fuel lines.• Check that the cutter does not rotate

when the engine is idling.• Clean the outside of the machine.• Check that the harness is not damaged.• Check that the cutting attachment guard

is not damaged or cracked.• Replace the guard if it is exposed to im-

pact or is cracked.• A non-balanced trimmer head induces

heavy vibrations that may damage themachine.

• Check that nuts and screws are tight.• Check that the screws that hold the bevel

gear are tight.• Check that the trimmer head is tight.

Weekly maintenance• Check the starter and starter cord.• Clean the carburetor area.

• Clean the outside of the spark plug. Re-move it and check the electrode gap. Ad-just the gap to 0.024" (0.6 mm), orreplace the spark plug. Use resistor sparkplug Champion RCJ-6Y or equivalent.

• Clean the cooling fins on the cylinder andcheck that the air intake near the starteris not blocked.

• Check that the bevel gear is filled withgrease up to 3/4 full. Use special grease.

• Clean the air filter.

Monthly maintenance• Clean the fuel tank.• Clean the outside of the carburetor and

the space around it.• Clean the fan and the area around it.• Check fuel lines for cracks or other dam-

age. Change if necessary.• Change the fuel filter in fuel tank.• Check the clutch, clutch springs and the

clutch drum for wear. Replace if neces-sary.

• Check electrical wires and connections.

Equipo de proteccion personal

ilMPORTANTE! Para trabajar con lam&quina debe utilizarse un equipo de pro-tecci6n personal homologado. El equipode protecci6n personal no elimina el riesgode lesiones, pero reduce su efecto encaso de accidente. Pida a su distribuidor

que le asesore en la elecci6n del equipo.

ADVERTENCIA: Cuando use

proteccion auditivapreste siempreatencion a lae eeftalee o Ilamadoe

de advertencia. Saquese siemprela proteccion auditiva inmediata-mente deepues de parar el motor.

GUANTES

Se deben utilizar guantes cuando seanecesario, por ejemplo al montar el equipode corte.

PROTECCION AU DITIVASe debe utilizar protecci6n auditiva consuficiente capacidad de reducci6n sonora.

PROTECCION OCULAR

Fiador del acelerador

El fiador del acelerador est& dise_ado paraimpedir la activaci6n involuntaria del acel-erador. Cuando se oprime el fiador (A) enel mango (= cuando se agarra el mango),se desacopla el acelerador (B). Cuando sesuelta el mango, el acelerador y el fiadorvuelven a sus posiciones originales. Am-bas funciones se efectOan con sistemas

independientes de muelles de retorno. Conesta posici6n, al acelerador queda au-tom&ticamente bloqueado en ralenti.

Fiador del acelerador

• Compruebe que el acelerador est_ blo-queado en la posici6n de ralenti cuandoel fiador est& en su posici6n inicial.

Y,

• Apriete el fiador del acelerador y com-pruebe que vuelva a su posici6n departida al soltarlo.

• Compruebe que el acelerador y el fiadorse muevan con facilidad y que funcionensus muelles de retorno.

• Consulte las instrucciones bajo el tituloArranque. Ponga en marcha la mb.quina yacelere al m&ximo. Suelte el acelerador ycontrole que el equipo de corte se deten-gay permanezca inm6vil. Si el equipo decorte gira con el acelerador en ralenti, sedebe controlar la regulaci6n del carbura-dor para ralenti.

Interruptor de parada• Arranque el motor y compruebe que se

este firmemente montado en la m_tquina.

• El silenciador en este aparato incorporanuna rejilla apagachispas. El rejilla debe sercomprobado yen case de necesidad, lim-piar por una distribuidor autorizado del servi-cio. Si el rejilla se obstruye, la m_tquina se re-calienta y produce da6os series. No utilicenunca un silenciador con el rejilla apagachis-pas dahado. Vea la secci6n Mantenimiento.

Cabezal de corte

• Utilice Onicamente el equipo de corterecomendado. Vea la secci6n "DatosTecnicos".

• En general, una m&quina pequeSa re-quiere un cabezal pequeho y viceversa.Esto se debe a que, al cortar con linea,el motor debe lanzarlo radialmente hacia

afuera desde el cabezal de corte y venc-er la resistencia de la hierba que se va acortar.

• El largo del linea tambi_n es importante.Las linea m&s largo requiere mayor po-tencia del motor que uno corto, con elmismo di&metro de la linea.

• Controle que el cuchillo que hay en laprotecci6n de la recortadora est_ intacto.Se utiliza para cortar la linea en el largocorrecto.

• Para prolongar la vida Otil de la linea, sepuede poner en remojo un par de dias.De esta manera la linea se refuerza ydura m&s.

ilMPORTANTE!Observe siempre que la linea de corte est_arrollado en forma firme y uniforme al rodil-Io, de Io contrario la m&quina producir& vi-braciones perjudiciales para la salud.

ADVERTENCIA: Pare aiempreel motor antes de trabajar con al-guna parta del equipo de corte.Eeta continua girando inclueodaapues de haber soltado el acal-arador. Controle que el aquipo decorte ee haya detenido completa-mente y desconecte el cable de labujla antes de comanzar a trabajar.

• Nunca use alambre, soga, hilo, etc.• Nunca utilice la m&quina si est& cansa-

do, si ha ingerido alcohol o si toma medi-camentos que puedan afectarle la vista,su capacidad de discernimiento o el con-trol del cuerpo.

• Nunca utilice la mb.quina en condicionesatmosf_ricas extremas como frio intenso oclima muy caluroso y/o hQmedo.

• No utilice nunca una m&quina que hayasido modificada de modo que ya no coinci-da con la configuraci6n original.

• Utilice el equipo de protecci6n personal.Vea las instrucciones en la secci6n de"Equipo de protecci6n personal".

• No utilice nunca una m&quina defectuosa.Siga las instrucciones de mantenimiento,control y servicio de este manual. Algunasmedidas de mantenimiento y servicio de-ben ser efectuadas por especialistas for-mados ycualificados. Vea las instrucciones en lasecci6n "Mantenimiento".

• Controle toda la m&quina antes de arran-car. Cambie las piezas defectuosas. Con-trole que no haya fuga de combustible yque todas las protecciones y tapas est_nen buenas condiciones y bien fijas. Con-trole todos los tornillos y tuercas.

• Controle que el cabezal \_'_\de corte no tengagrietas ni otros da6os.

Verifique que laprotector ester montaday sin da_ar.

• Controle que el cabezal de corte y su pro-tecci6n esten correctamente montadas.

• AI ajustar el carburador, controle que elcabezal apoyado y que no haya nadieen las cercanias.

• Controle que el cabezal de corte siemprese detenga en r_gimen de ralenti.

• Controle que los mangos y la funci6n deseguridad est_n en orden. No utilicenunca una m_tquina a la que le falte unaparte o que haya sido modificada y nocoincida con las especificaciones.

• Utilice la m_tquina solamente para Io queester destinada.

Seguridad de arranque

• Antes de arrancar la m_tchina, asegQresede que todas las cubiertas y cajas del mo-tor est_n montadas correctamente.

• Nunca ponga en marcha el motor con elembrague, el cilindro del embrague, lacubierta del embrague, o el eje desmontado.

• No ponga nunca en marcha la m&quina eninteriores. Tenga en cuenta el riesgo de inha-laci6n de los gases de escape del motor.

• Observe el entorno y aseg0rese de queno haya riesgo de tocar a personas oanimales con el equipo de corte.

• Vea la secci6n "Arranque y Parada" paralas instrucciones completas.

Seguridad en el use del com-bustible

• Utilice un recipiente de combustible conprotecci6n antirebose.

• No reposte nunca la m_tquina con el motoren marcha.

• Apague el motor y deje que se enfrie unosminutos antes de repostar.

• Procure que haya buena ventilaci6n duranteel repostaje y la mezcla de combustible (ga-solina y aceite para motores de 2 tiempos).

• Antes de arrancar, aparte la m_quina a 3m como minimo del lugar de repostaje.

• Nunca arranque la m&quina:• Si derram6 combustible sobre la m_tquina.

Seque cualquier residue y espere a quese evaporen los restos de combustible.

• Si se salpic6 el cuerpo o las ropas, cam-bie de ropas. Lave las partes del cuerpoque han entrado en contacto con elcombustible. Use agua y jab6n.

• Si hay fugas de combustible en lam_tquina. Compruebe regularmente sihay fugas en la tapa del dep6sito o enlos conductos de combustible.

• Evite que el combustible entre en con-tacto con la piel. El combustible causairritaci6n y, en algunos cases, puedecausar manchas en la piel.

Transporte y almacenamiento• Almacene y transporte la m_tquina y el

combustible de manera que eventualesfugas o vapores no puedan entrar en con-tacto con chispas o llamas, por ejemplo,m_tquinas el_ctricas, motores el_ctricos,contactos el_ctricos/interruptores de cor-riente o calderas.

• Para almacenar y transportar combustiblese deben utilizar recipientes dise6ados yhomologados para tal efecto.

Antes del uso, Ud. debe haber entendidola diferencia entre desbroce forestal, des-broce de hierba y recorte de hierba.

Reglas basicas de seguridad

1. Observe el entorno para:• Comprobar que no hayan personas,

animales, etc., que puedan influir ensu control de la m&quina.

• Para evitar que personas, animales,etc. entren en contacto con el equipode corte u objetos lanzados por elequipo de corte.

• iNOTA! No use nunca una m&quina sino tiene posibilidad de pedir auxilio sise produce un accidente.

2. No trabaje en condiciones atmosf_ricasdesfavorables come niebla, Iluvia intensa,tempestad, frio intenso, etc. El trabajo conmal tiempo es fatigoso y puede crearcircunstancias peligrosas, como terrenoresbaladizo, cambio imprevisto de la direc-ci6n de derribo de los _trboles, etc.

3. Compruebe que pueda caminar y manten-erse de pie con seguridad. Yea si hayeventuales impedimentos para desplaza-mientos imprevistos (raices, piedras, ra-mas, fosos, zanjas, etc.). Proceda consumo cuidado al trabenado.

Tecnica basicas de trabajo• Despu6s de cada momento de trabajo re-

duzca siempre la velocidad del motor aralenti. Un tiempo demasiado largo a m_txi-ma velocidad sin que el motor este carga-do puede averiar seriamente el motor.

• Se recomienda que no opere el motorpor mas de un minuto a la velocidadmaxima.

ADVERTENCIA: A veces, seatascan ramas o hierba entre la pro-teccion y el equipo de corte. Antesde retirarlos, pare siempre el motor.

• Mantenga el cabezal de corte justo por en-cima del suelo, en posici6n inclinada. Es lapunta del hilo la que realiza el trabajo. Dejeque el hilo trabaje con su propio ritmo.

• Nunca Io presione contra la vegetacidnque quiere segar. La linea corta con facili-dad la hierba y las malas hierbas que haycontra paredes, cercas, &rboles y arriates,pero tambi_n puede da_ar la corteza deli-cada de &rboles y arbustos, y postes decercas.

• Disminuya el peligro de daSos en las plan-tas acortando el hilo a 10-12 cm (4-4,5pulgadas) y disminuyendo las revolucionesdel motor.

• AI recortar y raspar debe utilizar una velo-cidad un poco menor que la aceleraci6nm_txima para que el hilo dure m&s y el ca-bezal de corte se desgaste menos.

MANIPULACION DEL COMBUSTIBLE

CarburanteiNOTA! El motor de la m_tquina es de dostiempos y debe funcionar con una mezclade gasolina y aceite para motores de dostiempos. Para obtener una mezcla con lasproporciones correctas debe medirse conprecisi6n la cantidad de aceite a mezclar.En la mezcla de peque_as cantidades decombustible, los errores m_ts insignifi-cantes en la medici6n del aceite influyenconsiderablemente en las proporciones dela mezcla.

ADVERTENCIA: Para hacer lamezcla, compruaba qua haya bue-na ventilacion.

Gasolina

iNOTA! Use siempre gasolina sin plomode alta calidad.

• Este motor esta habilitado para fun-cionar con gaaolina sin plomo.

• El octanaje minimo recomendado es de 87octanos. Si usa gasolina de menos de 87octanos, el motor puede pistonear. Estoaumenta la temperatura del motor y puedeocasionar averias graves del mismo.

• Para trabajar durante mucho tiempo enaltas revoluciones se recomienda el usode gasolina con m&s octanos.

CarburadorSu producto Husqvarna ha sido construidoy fabricado conforme a especificacionesque reducen los gases de escape t6xicos.Cuando el motor ha consumido 8-10dep6sitos de combustible, se dice que elmotor ha sido rodado. Para asegurarse deque funcione de la mejor manera y despidala menor cantidad posible de gases t6xicosdespues del periodo de rodaje, contacte asu distribuidor autorizado del servicio paraque ajuste su carburador.

Functionamiento

Reglaje basico° El reglaje b_tsico del carburador se Ileva a

cabo en las pruebas que se hacen en f_tbri-ca. El reglaje final debe ser realizado por untecnico especializado.

iNOTA! Si el equipo de corte gira en ralenti,debe girarse el tornillo de ralenti- Ten senti-do contrario a las agujas del reloj hasta que elequipo de corte quede inm6vil.

Reglaje definitivo del regimen deralenti-TRegule el r_gimen de ralenti con el tornilloT, si es necesario un reajuste. Gire primeroel tornillo de ralenti T en el sentido de lasagujas del reloj, hasta que comience a gi-rar el equipo de corte. Despu6s gire el tor-nillo en el sentido contrario, hasta que elequipo de corte se detenga. El r_gimen deralenti es correcto cuando el motor funcio-

na en forma uniforme en cada posici6n.Tambi_n debe existir un buen margen has-ta el r_gimen en que empieza a girar elequipo de corte.

El silenciador ester dise6ado para amortiguarel ruido y para apartar del usuario los gasesde escape. Los gases de escape est_tn cal-ientes y pueden contener chispas que pue-den ocasionar incendios si se dirigen losgases a materiales secos e inflamables.

El silenciador incorporan una rejilla apaga-chispas. El rejilla debe ser comprobado yen caso de necesidad, limpiar por una dis-tribuidor autorizado del servicio. del silenciador hay sustanciasqulmicas que pueden ser cancerlge-nas. Evitar el contacto con estassustancias si se dafta el silenciador.

ADVERTENCIA: Recuerde que:Los gases del motor contienenmonoxido de carbono que puedeprovocar intoxicaci6n. Por eso, nun-ca arranque ni haga funcionar lamaquina en ambientes carrados, ocuando no exista una buena circula-

cion de aire. Los gases de escapedel motor estan calientes y puedencontener chispas que pueden provo-car incendio. Por eca razon, inuncaarranque la maquina en interiores ocarca de material inflamable!

Bujia

Los factores siguientes afectan al estadode la bujia:• Carburador mal regulado.• Mezcla de aceite inadecuada en el com-

bustible (demasiado aceite o aceite in-adecuado).

• Filtro de aire sucio.

Estos factores producen revestimientos enlos electrodos de la bujia que pueden oca-sionar perturbaciones del funcionamiento ydificultades de arranque. Si la potencia dela m_tquina es demasiado baja, si es dificilarrancar la m&quina o si el ralenti es irregu-lar: revise primero la bujia antes de tomarotras medidas. Si la bujia ester muy sucia,limpiela y compruebe que la separaci6n delos electrodos sea de 0,6 mm (0,024 de pul-gada). La bujia debe cambiarse aproxima-damente despues de un mes de funciona-miento o m_ts a menudo si es necesario.

iPRECAUCION! iUtilice siempre el tipo debujia recomendado! Una bujia incorrectapuede arruinar el pist6n y el cilindro.AsegQrese de que la bujia tenga supresi6nde perturbaciones radioel_ctricas.

Tubo divisible

La punta del eje propulsor en la parte infe-rior del tubo debe lubricarse interiormentecon grasa cada 30 horas de trabajo. Existeel riesgo de que las puntas del eje propul-sor (uniones ranuradas) se agarroten si nose lubrican regularmente.

Filtro de aire

El filtro de aire debe limpiarse regular-mente de polvo y suciedad para evitar:• Fallos del carburador• Problemas de arranque• Reducci6n de la potencia• Desgaste innecesario de las piezas del

motor.• Un consumo de combustible excesivo.

Limpie el filtro cada 25 horas de funciona-miento o m_ts seguido si trabaja en un en-torno muy polvoriento.

Limpieza del filtro de aireDesmonte la cubierta del filtro de aire y re-tire el filtro. L_tvelo en agua jabonosa cal-iente. Aclare el filtro totalmente. Controleque el filtro este seco antes de volver amontarlo. Un filtro utilizado durante mucho

tiempo no puede limpiarse del todo. Pertanto, hay que cambiarlo a iotervalos regu-lares, Un filtro de aire averiado debecambiarse.

Engranaje angulado (128LD)

El engranaje angulado se entrega de f&bri-ca con la cantidad adecuada de grasa. Noobstante, antes de empezar a utilizar lam&quina, verifique que el engranaje esteIleno con grasa hasta las 3/4 partes. Usegrasa especial de HUSQVARNA.

Programa de mantenimientoA continuaci6n, se indican algunas instruc-clones generales de mantenimiento.

Mantenimiento diario

• Compruebe que los componentes delacelerador funcionen con seguridad. (Fia-dory acelerador.)

• Controle que el interrupter stop funcione.• Controle que no haya fugas de combus-

tible del motor, del dep6sito o de los con-ductos de combustible.

• Controle que el equipo de corte no gire enralenti.

• Limpie la parte exterior de la m_tquina.• Controle que el arn_s no sea da_ado.• Controle que la protecci6n no este da_a-

day que no tenga grietas.• Cambie la protecci6n si ha estado ex-

trole la distancia entre los electrodes.Ajuste la distancia a 0,5 mm o cambie labujia. Utilice la bujia con resistor Cham-pion RCJ-8Y o equivalente.

• Limpie las aletas de refrigeraci6n del cilin-dro y controle que la entrada de aire delmecanismo de arranque no este obstruida.

• Controle que el engranaje angulado tengagrasa hasta las 3/4 partes. Si es necesa-rio Ilene con grasa especial.

• Limpie el filtro de aire.Mantenimiento mensual
