"Joe" Davis would serve two terms as Yell County Sheriff and also serve as Circuit Court Clerk; Joe Davis died in 1923. He was sher- iff when the hangi,ng took place in Danville. Jesse Randolph Hunnicutt was born in 1839 and died in 1921. Shown here is the former Sheriff's tombstone in Young Gravelly Cemetery. Hunnicutt was the leading Deputy Sheriff when the hanging took place.
