    1-1. GENERAL.

    1. This Crew Station Maintenance Manual (CSMM) is one of a seriesof manuals which provide the experienced technician withinformation and maintenance data required for readiness testingand organizational level maintenance of avionic equipment installedin the P-3C aircraft. This CSMM is supplemented by NAVAIR01-75PAC-2-5, Integrated Technician Station OrganizationalMaintenance Instruction Manual (MIM). Manuals in theCSMM-series cover avionic equipment by crew station groupings incorrespondence with like groupings in the MIM-series manuals.Maintenance coverage in this CSMM and the associated MIM,which is limited to specific production blocks of P-3C aircraft, isidentified by Naval Bureau Number (BUNO). The coverage notlimited by BUNO is applicable to all P-3C aircraft. For a completelisting of aircraft series, including BUNO and correspondingLockheed serial numbers with cross-referencing, see NAVAIR01-75PAA-2-1.

    1-2. PURPOSE AND SCOPE.

    1. The purpose of this CSMM is to provide a basic manual coveringreadiness testing, system interfacing, signal flow, and maintenanceprocedures for avionic equipment located at or controlled by thetechnician station. The Integrated Technician Station MIM supportsthe CSMM by providing:

    a. Descriptive data on operating controls and indicators.

    b. Descriptive data supporting signal flow diagrams in thisCSMM.

    c. Maintenance philosophy.

    d. Maintenance procedures (when needed to supportprocedures in the CSMM) covering testing, troubleshooting,alignment and adjustment, servicing and removal/installationprocedures.

    e. Peculiar support equipment maintenance.

    2. Section 1 provides general information to assist in locatingequipment and information, cross-indexing, systeminterconnecting, and status of technical content.

    3. Section 2, Readiness Test Procedures, reflects the latest SystemsTest Program available to Fleet personnel. The readiness tests

    verify the operational status of the avionic system. The tests usesystem test programs, Built-In Test Equipment (BITE), off-line testprocedures, and portions of the operational program as applicable.

    4. Section 3 and subsequent (hardware sections) are each dedicatedto a specific system or functional grouping of equipment. Thesection number assigned to a system will, in all instances, beconsistent between the CSMM and its associated MIM.

    5. Within the hardware sections the following conventions apply:

    a. When two (2) or more types of equipment are used for thesame purpose, the same section number applies to all, and analphabetical suffix is used to differentiate between types.Aircraft applicability serialization is shown on the tab sheets.

    b. When two (2) or more configurations exist within the samesection, the minor differences are shown by delta notes;extensive differences are illustrated by separate figures, andserial number applicability is included in the figure title.

    c. Major signals are shown as double width lines and flowhorizontally throughout the diagram.

    d. Block outlines adhere to the following conventions:

    (1) Solid line () a discrete component; disassembly orrepair not normally possible

    (2) Single dash line ( - ) unit, black box, or dust cover ofa functional assembly

    (3) Double dash line ( - - ) a removable module

    (4) Triple and greater dash line ( - - - ) removable sub orsub- submodule

    (5) Continuous dash line (- - - - -) a single block illustration ofa multiunit system or an airframe enclosure or pod; i.e.,IRDS, ESM.

    e. Connector reference designators are shown as P numbersand imply 2P1 connects to 2J1. If such is not the case, thenboth reference designators are shown; i.e., 2P1 connects to24J3. Lower case connector pins are prefixed with Z.

    f. Partial or fractionalized illustrations are indicated by a zig-zagline in either upper, lower, or side outline, which indicateadditional portions appear elsewhere in the same drawing.Absence of a zig-zag line does not imply an item is complete,but rather that the part shown is the only part in that drawing.

    g. Broken or air-connected lines or cables use a letter enclosedby a square and accompanied by a reference to the sheetnumber of the continuation.

    h. Lines terminated with a circuit reference such as G-8, L-24,R-122 refer to wiring diagrams indexed in Section 2 of eachwiring data manual table 2-1. Table 2-1 cross indexes fromcircuit reference to the specific NAVAIR 01-75PAC-2-13Series and NAVAIR 01-75PAC-2 Series manual for thatdiagram.

    i. Major test points are identified on signal flow diagrams, tables,charts, and illustrations by use of a numeral enclosed in a star

    ( 1 ), but are referred to in the text as TP along with the

    applicable reference designator (2A4TP1).

    j. System signal flow diagrams (first level) provide a compositesimplified illustration of all active elements involved in acommon function.

    k. Subsystem signal flow diagrams (second level) provideinformation covering a functional group, such as HF 1(AN/ARC-161).

    l. System functional signal flow diagrams are special purposediagrams showing a function of a multipurpose system, suchas receive, transmit, azimuth distribution, and BITE.

    m. Functional blocks are used to show internal signal flow ofequipment maintained at the unit (black box) level.

    n. Equipment maintained to the module level shows signal flowto the module level with text descriptions inside the moduleoutline.

    o. System and Subsystem interface buses are labelledaccording to their use. Table 1-1 lists the types of interfacesand their definition.
