Japanese Corner にほん の コー

ナー With Sensei We have been having a SENSEI-tional time in Japanese this

week with our Japanese speeches. It is extremely

rewarding and heart-warming for me to see the students

speak so well in front of the class…. In Japanese!!!! The

students have been able to express in Japanese their name,

age, grade, what they like, what they don’t like, where they

live and where they were born. I am quite surprised at how

many student chose a monkey as an animal that they liked.

If you see me around, ask me the story about how a

monkey stole my packet of chips when I was in Japan….

Speaking of monkeys, here is a great Japanese proverb that

I often use which involves monkeys…… さるも木から落ちる

Saru mo ki kara ochiru: Even Monkeys fall from trees

It means that we all make mistakes. Every one of us has

made some kind of mistake or failed at something at some

stage in our lives. However, it is how we respond to these

mistakes that make us the people that we are. It is

completely o.k. to make mistakes, just try your best to learn

something from it. Sometimes the bigger the mistake, the

more we can learn.

Stay Japanesey From せんせい
