Day 1 & 2 Perth to KalbarriWith its year-round blue skies and turquoise ocean beaches, it’s easy to be seduced by Perth’s natural charms. When you are in Perth, it is definitely worth taking a ferry and paying a visit to Rottnest Island. Here you can find picturesque white sand beaches with clear bays for snorkelling, swimming, sunbathing, or having a picnic with a stunning view.

Kings Park is one of the biggest city parks in the world – bigger than Central Park in New York City – yet its right in the heart of Perth. The astonishingly tall, white-trunked trees line the entrance road to this inspiring patch of green, which has to a treetop bridge, bushland trails, manicured gardens and cafes.

Visit Cottesloe Beach with its Cafes and Norfolk Pines, Mettams Pool for it snorkelling reef, Leighton Beach for its Blindingly white sand and rip-free waters, and North Beach for its charming rock pools. Each March Sculpture by the Sea transforms Cottesloe’s foreshore into an incredible outdoor gallery.

A 30-minute drive south of Perth’s centre is the port town of Fremantle, which blends interesting colonial remnants with the famous Little Creatures Brewery. Visit Fremantle Prison and take one of its eerie tours and explore seafaring history at the terrific Maritime Museum and Shipwreck Galleries. Take a day trip to Rottnest Island, a popular Perth getaway due to its white-sand beaches, secluded bays, scenic bike paths and vehicle-free atmosphere. Travel to the island, just off the coast, by high-speed ferry, and then explore at your leisure with included bike rental. Please arrive at the ferry terminal at least 20 minutes prior to departure time to ensure for a comfortable boarding.

Day 2 & 3 Kalbarri to Shark Bay/Monkey MiaNestled at the mouth of the Murchison River, Kalbarri boasts an ideal climate where fishing, swimming & many coastal activities can be enjoyed all year round. Add to that the amazing Wildflower & Humpback Whale season and you have the perfect destination for your next holiday. From the rugged inland gorges to the dramatic coastal cliffs, sensational beaches to the tranquil Murchison River, Kalbarri is unique and has something to offer everyone.

Kalbarri National Park covers an area of 186,000 hectares, the rugged terrain and relative seclusion of the part attracts thousands of visitors each year.

The roads to the coastal sites are sealed and suitable for all vehicles, except for Pot Alley which is not suitable for caravans or motorhomes. The roads into the inland gorge sites at Hawk’s Head and Ross Graham are also sealed, and there are shade shelters, toilets and picnic facilities. The road to the Z-Bend and Loop area is now fully sealed and accessible to all types of vehicles (caravans and trailers excepted).

Inland River Gorges – Access to these sites is 11km from town along the Kalbarri-Ajana Road. Turn off at The Loop/Z-Bend Road. The roads into all inland gorge sites are fully sealed and accessible to all types of vehicles, with shade shelters, toilets and picnic facilities. They

Day 8 & 9 Exmouth to Carnarvon

Time to further explore the North West Cape area. Coral Bay is a marine paradise and one of Western Australia’s premier family holiday destinations. Named Coral Bay due to the beautiful coral gardens which lie just metres from the pristine white sandy beach, this tiny, laidback seaside location is a must-visit destination for nature lovers.

Travel south to the fishing and tropical fruit growing centre of Carnarvon. Ideally situated between the Shark Bay and Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Areas, Carnarvon is a great place to rest, relax and recharge. Enjoy an abundant tropical food experience of fresh fruit, vegetables, and seafood.

Day 9 & 10 Carnarvon to Geraldton

Not just our beaches and stunning Foreshore, but we are home to the magnificent HMAS Sydney II Memorial, Western Australian Museum, the Saint Francis Xavier Cathedral, Seal Rock, live lobster factory, the Point Moore Lighthouse and the phenomenal Houtman Abrolhos Islands located just off the Geraldton coast.

A total of 122 islands make up the pristine Houtman Abrolhos Islands located just 60km off the Geraldton coast. They are accessible via aircraft and boat. Diving, fishing, snorkelling, photography and bird watching – the Abrolhos Islands are truly spectacular.

Day 10 & 12 Geraldton to Perth

Driving from Geraldton to Perth takes about 5 hours, but that would mean missing out on explouring any unique sights and experiences.

Visit a National Trust Town:Greenough Hamlet is a National Trust town 42km north of Dongara, where the trees survive despite being permanently bent over by 90 degrees, thanks to the strong coastal winds.

The Numbung National Park and the Pinnacles:The Pinnacles are a dramatic ‘field’ of ancient limestone spires, three to four metres high. But before exploring these natural wonders by scenic drive or walking trail, it’s a must to visit the park’s Desert Discovery Centre to learn how The Pinnacles were formed.

Bask with Sea Lions:Cervantes is the gateway to the Turquoise Coast and an ideal base for exploring local attractions such as the Nambung National Park, The Pinnacles, the stromatolites at Lake Thetis and the Jurien Bay Marine Park, where sea lions bask on the rocks. At sunset, take a stroll along

Jurien Bay’s 2km Turquoise Way beachside walk, or head to Tea Tree Point Scenic Lookout.

Beach shack settlements:About 150km north of Perth are two unofficial shack settlements, called Wedge and Grey. Built between the 1950s and 1990s by fishermen and pastoralists, they are now inhabited by retirees and Perth residents during holidays and weekend breaks. Some of the makeshift huts use wind-powered generators, solar panels and rain-water tanks to provide home comforts.

Wedge Island:For a scenic and invigorating pit-stop, visit the Wedge Island Lookout and take in the view to this remote island nature reserve located 300m offshore.

Sand surfing at Lancelin:Experience sand surfing at these famous giant dunes, where you can hire sand boards or take a guided dune buggy tour

Koalas and limestone stalagmites at Yanchep National Park:Get up close to koalas on the 240-metre Koala Boardwalk. Meet western grey kangaroos and other local wildlife on the walking trails and be awed by the impressive limestone stalagmites in the Crystal Cave. Learn more about the local Aboriginal heritage from the park’s indigenous guides; take a lake boat tour or hire a row boat and enjoy a lakeside picnic.
