DISTRICT HEALTH ACTION PLAN – 2012-13
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Anantapur is the largest district of Andhra Pradesh spanning an area of 19,130
square kilometers. The district spread in 63 Mandals and covered in 3 Revenue
Divisions. It is bounded on the north by Kurnool District, on east by Kadapa District, on
the southeast by Chittoor district, an on the southwest and west by Karnataka Districts. (
i.e., 1. Bellary, 2. Chitradurg, 3.Tumkur 4. Kolar ). It is part of Rayalaseema region on
the state.
The population of Anantapur Dist. is 40,83,315 as per 2011 cences. Though
the dist. is 2nd biggest in the state ,but the majority of the population is under BPL and
facing continues droughts from past 150 years.In this circumstances the dist. needed
more Govt. health facilities, particularly in urban pockets of Rayadurg, Dharmavaram ,
Gooty, Kadiri , Guntakal and Anantapur.
Theyear 2005-06 is the ear-mark in the health history of the Anantapur Dist.
From 2005-06 onwards health facilities are functioning in more identifical way and
patient friendly in-turns of up-gradation of health facilities and it’s services with the
NRHM support ,same time increased facilities ,man power etc..The introduction of
ASHA services at the door steps of the public is very much useful to improve the
institutional delivaries ,through which IMR,MMR,TFR is decreased which is lead to
achieve Millinium Development Goals.
PROCESS OF PLAN PREPARATION
• On 16.12.2011 all DM&HOs and DPOs were attended DHAP -2012-13 preporatory workshop at IIHFW,Hyderabad under the guidance of Mission Directoe – A.P. , NRHM and all Joint Directors of CH&FW.,A.P.,Hyderabad
• On 17.12.2011 under the leadership of the DM&HO,Anantapur a preporatory
meeting was conducted for DHAP -2012-13 at conference hall of DM&HO’s office.Detailedly discussed about Dist. health needs inturns of infrastructure, HR, Finane and physical targets.
• From 18012.2011 onwards received requirements from CHNCs , based on that
prepared DHAP -2012-13 of Anantapur Dist. with the coordination of all Dist.Program Officers under the Team Leadership & Guidence of the DM&HO

A1: Maternal Health Objectives: The objectives of interventions for improved maternal health include:
• To ensure access to quality comprehensive (basic and emergency) maternal and reproductive health care to women.
• To ensure access to comprehensive family planning services by emphasizing on age at marriage, delayed first child birth, spacing methods and male sterilization.
• To provide a comprehensive package of maternal and nutritional health services to the tribal, scheduled caste, coastal fishers, migrant labour and other identified marginalized vulnerable women.
Gaps identified:
• Shortage of MOs and long standing vacancies in remote, difficult area health facilities.
• Need to improve the capacities of health staff to conduct the delivaries and connventioal tubectomies ,MTPs at all facility level by way of providing relavent trainings.
• Continous vacancies of Specialist doctors.

A5: Urban Health Objectives:
• To provide an integrated and sustainable system for primary health care services in the urban slum areas, with emphasis on preventing and controlling communicable diseases;
• To promote reproductive and child health among the urban population, especially the urban poor and the slum migrant population.

B - MISSION FLEXI POOL B.1 ASHA:
ASHA Incentives: The rural Anantapur district consists of 1001 Gram Panchayats, 957 Revenue Villages and 3411 Habitations. 2930 ASHAs have been positioned during the first three years of the Mission as Health Resource Persons, who constitute the first call of the community for all maternal and child health services, disease prevention and health promotion activities. Of the 2930 ASHAs, 2683 are in the rural areas, nil in the tribal areas and 247 in the peri-urban / urban areas of the district.
ASHA will be rewarded for good performance on the maternal and child health and disease prevention front. The best ASHA will be identified for each PHC, Community Health and Nutrition Cluster, district and state levels and will be rewarded with cash grant at the annual Health Day. Any ASHA failing to ensure cent per cent ANCs, PNCs, Immunization, and failure to take measures to prevent and report any case of IMR / MMR will be censured, including removal if the failure is gross or willful. 3) Slums and Underserved areas
The population living in the urban slums in the district is 2,55,608 as per Census 2011. This population has increased substantially in the recent past due to settlement of the migratory population here and there in the District. The population keeps on shifting from place to place as per urban development plans. ANMs will be hired @ Rs.300/- per session for four-sessions/ month/ slum and Rs. 200/- will be paid per month as contingency. Thus, Rs.1400/- per month per slum will be paid for RS.16, 800 slum areas with population of 10,000 each
