The revolver forms part of a body of work entitled 'Play Ground' anexhibition held at the Owen James Gallery in Brooklyn. In this exhibitionNikki Luna has revealed the culture of rape and repression. Theexhibition made up of fifteen revolvers, a significant number as in manycultures it marks the age of a girl's transition to womanhood. Thesculptures are made of resin infused with lace, a fabric that the artistassociates with femininity a fine, delicate fabric used in lingerie andbridal wear. Each revolver in the series is inspired by real-life events oftrauma and aggression perpetrated against young vulnerable women.

Mary Gray Smith married the widowerHenry Smith in 1869, becoming Lady of the Manor at Ellingham Hall,Norfolk. She continued her family name by calling her son HoraceMackenzie-Smith. The painting was bequeathed to Horace's sonMichael Mackenzie-Smith and by descent to Michael's son PeterMackenzie-Smith, the current owner. Ellingham Hall remains in thefamily and found fame as the property where Julian Assange was under'mansion arrest' for a year whilst on bail.

The desk measures approx 81 cm w x 105 h x43 cms d. With serpentine drop-front writing slope, fitted interior withpigeon-holes and three drawers beneath, raised on cabriole legstogether with his chair. His Order of Service is inside. Note: This desk belonged to Malcolm Fayerweather Gordon C.B.ED.Sc. Gordon in association with Dr de Bruyne created a laminate offlax roving and paper soaked with liquid phenolic resin and cured underpressure and used on the tail fins of the Spitfire thus named GordonAerolite. This reinforcement was suggested by Mr Malcolm Gordon inresponse to a publication of Dr de Bruynes lecture to the RoyalAeronautical Society in 1937, Gordon's family had connections to aBelfast linen business which supplied Dr de Bruyne with flax.
