In our retreat, we have not loved our neighbors with a steadfast love, nor honored your love for us. Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be with us, even as we put our trust in you. *SILENT PRAYERS OF REPENTANCE Hear our prayers, restore to us the joy of salvation, for we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER Rev. Dr. Paul Suich

O God, our Rock, through the prophet Isaiah you said, “do not call conspiracy all that this people calls conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear”…

God of Grace: Congregation: Hear our prayers!

O God, fulfiller of dreams, we read in the Christmas story of Simeon, the man who waited a lifetime to see the consolation of Israel…

God of Grace: Congregation: Hear our prayers!

Jehovah Rapha, the God who Heals, we lift up before you those among our number who are ill, injured, and recovering from difficulty…

God of Grace: Congregation: Hear our prayers!

And now, as maturing disciples of Jesus Christ, we pray the prayer that Jesus taught us to pray, saying, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

~ PROCLAIMING THE WORD OF GOD ~ SERMON “Peace Ushered in Through Conflict” Brian Morgan

    Luke 2:25-35

~ RESPONDING TO THE WORD OF GOD ~

    * AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Nicene Creed Rev. Dr. Paul Suich Now as we have heard the word of God proclaimed, let us respond in belief with the words from the Nicene Creed.

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

Amen. * HYMN # 27 Please sing! Gentle Mary Laid Her Child TEMPUS ADEST FLORIDUM
