Daniel Wroughton Craig, born 2nd March 1968is one of Britain’s most famous faces. Afterstarting his career as a struggling teenage actorwith the NYT, he went on to star as "JamesBond" in Casino Royale (2006), Quantum ofSolace (2008) and Skyfall (2012).

Early Life

He was born Daniel Wroughton Craig on March 2,1968, at 41 Liverpool Road, Chester, Cheshire,England. His father, Tim Craig, was a merchantseaman turned steel erector, then became landlord of"Ring O' Bells" pub in Frodsham, Cheshire. Hismother, Carol Olivia Craig, was an art teacher. Hisparents split up in 1972, Craig was raised with hisolder sister Lea by his mother, in Liverpool, then inHoylake. From the age of 6, Craig started acting inschool plays, making his debut in the FrodshamPrimary School production of “Oliver!” and hismother was the driving force behind his artisticaspirations. He was also a good athlete and was arugby player at Hoylake Rugby Club.

At the age of 14, Craig playedroles in "Oliver", "Romeo andJuliet" and "Cinderella" atHilbre High School in WestKirby. He left Hilbre High at 16to audition at the NationalYouth Theatre's (NYT) troupeon their tour in Manchester in1984. He was accepted andmoved down to London. As astruggling actor with the NYT,

he worked in restaurant kitchens and as a waiter.Craig performed with NYT on tours to Spain andRussia. He failed at repeated auditions at theGuildhall, but eventually in 1988, he entered theGuildhall School of Music and Drama at the Barbican.There, he studied alongside Ewan McGregor andAlistair McGowan, Damian Lewis and Joseph Fiennes.He graduated in 1991. From 1992-1994, he wasmarried to Scottish actress Fiona Loudon and had adaughter, Ella Craig, born in 1992.

Wirral midwife scoops ‘national’ award...to add to regional honours!A ‘One to One’ midwife has scooped a Royal College of Midwivesnational award - to add to her regional trophy won last year - for herwork with new mums across Wirral.

Lauren Irving - who is expecting her first baby as we go to print - was awarded the national ‘Johnson’s BabyMums’ Midwife of the Year Award’ in London for being an exceptional midwife.

The award is given to an exceptional midwife who is voted as being a very special person. They possess theability to calm the most anxious mum-to-be and provide an essential source of reassurance and support.

Lauren was voted by several mums across Wirral and The Royal College ofMidwives’ judging panel selected Lauren to be the national winner.

Many mums across Wirral are now aware of the high quality service offered by‘One to One’ midwives which is available to NHS patients. A team of midwivesoffer care to mums-to-be in their own home.

Lauren Irving, 31, said: “I can’t believe I’ve won this national award as well - I’m totally overwhelmed! Being able to support a woman throughout her wholepregnancy helps me to build up really good and trusting relationship and I lovethis aspect of my job.

“The award shows that many mums across the Wirral are now aware of thisquality service which is available to NHS patients. Our midwives are findingnew mums prefer receiving midwifery care at home as it really fits in withtheir busy lifestyles.”

Joanne Parkington, Clinical Director for ‘One to One’ midwives in Wirral, added: “This is an excellentachievement by Lauren to win both awards. It’s a prestigious national award given by The Royal College ofMidwives.

“This gives fantastic recognition for our team of midwives at One to One who are dynamic and dedicatedprofessionals providing exceptional midwifery services and achieving great health outcomes for women andtheir families.
