The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) hasalso been scrutinising how defence land wastransferred to the Adarsh co-operative housingsociety and how the beneficiaries, including

former services chiefs, politicians andbureaucrats, raised money to buy apartmentsmeant for Kargil war heroes and their families.

The agency, which had begun its probe into therow in early October, has sought documentsrelating to the society.

The army has also begun its own probe into theissue. Major General Sanjeev Chopra has beenentrusted with the inquiry. The Army High

Command has ordered General Chopra to findout how did the defence personnel managed tobuy flats worth Rs 8-10 crores, consideringtheir salaries.
