patterns for families.
Cons: Noise/construction impact
on instruction. Close proximity to
construction site. No play space for students. Mid-year move. Very limited staging area for
construction. Completion of playground
pushed to December 2018. Pick-up and drop-off.

Eastern half two bathroom clusters.
Total count adequate and exceeds code requirement.
Adult bathroom count low.
Sharpe Health Site Improvements/ModificationsProposed Modifications and Improvements
Thorough deep cleaning of floors and windows. Painting of walls. Toilet fixtures need to be changed to age
appropriate fixtures. Add new fixtures as needed.
Build a Welcome Center. Remove equipment from dental office and reconfigure and convert room into a teachers lounge.
Special Needs spaces - modify walls and doors as needed.
Add lighting fixtures as needed. Remove seats from auditorium and convert
room into a cafeteria. Technology infrastructure upgrade.

Pros: Fits current Bancroft program
entirely. Children removed from
construction site. Play space on site. Building in good condition, will
receive upgrades. Proximity to Bancroft and metro
stations. Parking.
Cons: Re-location of school community.
Disrupts commuting patterns. Need to coordinate recess with
surrounding schools. schools.
Sharpe Health Misc. Details
Transportation: DCPS will provide transportation to the students. DCPS will develop a survey to determine transportation needs.
Coordinating after-care program needs with Principal Mola.
Food: Warming kitchen.
Play space: Bancroft will have a dedicated playground at Sharpe Health. Working with DPR to determine use of other spaces at Upshur Recreation Center.

Community Feedback - Next Steps
DCPS/DGS will post summary of meeting notes by January 15th. Community can submit comments and questions until January 19th. DCPS/DGS will issue a summary of responses by January 25th. DCPS will evaluate each option, taking community input into consideration. DCPS senior leadership will make decision by end of January.
