Students holding an Advanced Diplomamay be considered for a first year entry to aBournemouth University Bachelors degree.

Each application will be judged on the merit ofthe student’s full profile, including gradesachieved during full schooling, English languagecapabilities, extra curricular activities andrelevant employment experience.

The above IVQs will provide a suitablebenchmark entry point, though successfulcompletion will not assure that an offer is madeto the candidate.

Bournemouth University is consistently rankedamong the UK’s top performing modernuniversities. The Guardian’s University Guide has named the University number one newuniversity and number one for studies in tourismfor the last two years. The University has around17,000 students, including over 1600international students from 130 countries.

United Kingdom

Bournemouth claims a number of innovative‘firsts’ in its growing portfolio of courses,including in the area of tourism, media-relatedprogrammes and conservation. Among the newdevelopments is the world’s first fullycommercial teaching hotel, a four-starestablishment with public- and private-sectorbacking.

The University houses the National Centre forComputer Animation, whose graduates nowwork for large companies in the entertainmentindustry with movies such as Shrek, Happy Feetand Lord of the Rings.

Bournemouth boasts some of the best beachesin the UK and is less than two hours away fromLondon.

Applications from holders of theAdvanced Diploma are welcomed for entry intothe first year of the University’s undergraduatebusiness degree courses in Marketing, Business,Management, Enterprise, Public Policy,Globalisation and HRM subjects.

For entry onto the Accounting and Financecourses, the Advanced Diploma would have tobe combined with additional qualifications suchas A Levels. The standard GCSE Maths andEnglish entry requirements (or internationalequivalent) would need to be met by allapplicants.

At Diploma level, applications would beconsidered for year one entry to theundergraduate business degree courses if theywere accompanied by several years of relevantwork experience and/or further qualifications.All applications would be considered on anindividual basis.

DMU is a leading university for research withover half of the University’s research ranked asinternationally excellent or world-leading.

The University is home to more than 18,000students, making it one of the liveliestuniversities in the East Midlands.

The Advanced Diploma will normally beeligible for entry to year 1 of the BA (Hons) inRetail Marketing Management.

Leeds Metropolitan University has almost30,000 students and 300,000 associate studentsthrough its network of 24 partner colleges whichenables students to take Leeds Metropolitancourses locally. There are around 2500international students from 90 countries.

Sport is central to the University’s profile andover 7000 students take part in some form ofsporting activity. The university boastsoutstanding sports facilities and has beennamed a UK Centre for Coaching Excellence insport and disability sport.

Being located in one of the country’s beststudent cities, Leeds Metropolitan attracts alarge number of undergraduate students.

Students holding an Advanced Diplomaare welcome to apply for admission into allprogrammes, except the LLB and the BA (Hons)Business Management programme. Subject tocandidates also having GCSE or equivalentqualifications in English and Mathematics.

Middlesex University is a large Londonuniversity, with two further campuses in Dubaiand Mauritius. Middlesex is one of the largestproviders of British university educationoverseas, about 30 percent of its 35,500students come from outside the UK. Middlesexhas formed partnerships with many prestigiousinstitutions around the world to deliverMiddlesex programmes, in countries as diverseas Egypt, Hong Kong, China, Hungary, Turkey,Greece, Botswana and the USA.

The University is a pioneer in university servicesfor business and has internationally recognisedresearch facilities.

Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) isone of the UK’s top performing new universitiesin terms of its research profile and one of thelargest providers of science, engineering andtechnology education. The University has one ofthe biggest business schools in the country andenjoys a global reputation for clothing designand technology.

MMU sits within the top five per cent of UKuniversities for exercise and sport science andwithin the top 12 per cent for materials science.

MMU has 34,000 students including more than2800 international students from 109 countries.

The central Manchester campuses form part ofthe largest higher education campus in the UKand one of the most extensive educationcentres in Europe.

The Advanced Diploma will normally beaccepted for entry to the first year of the BA(Hons) Retail Management.

An English language qualification equivalent toIELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 550 is required. Moduleexemptions may be given on an individual basis.

All applications will be treated individually, andthe University would wish to see some evidenceof relevant work experience and/ or acommitment to the industry.

The Robert Gordon University (RGU) is modernuniversity, with around 15,000 students,including around 2000 international studentsfrom more than 70 countries.

RGU was named as the best modern university inthe Times Good University Guide 2010 and oneof the leading UK universities for graduateemployment record after Imperial CollegeLondon and the University of Bath. From coursesto facilities, the focus at RGU is firmly onemployability.

The University has very close links with the NorthSea oil and gas industries and used to call itself‘the energy university’. However, following anextension of its courses into nursing, business,design and engineering, RGU is now branded as‘the professional university’.

The university has been investing heavily in newtechnology and launched an award-winningvirtual campus with an online course in e-business for postgraduates. There is a multi-million pound fitness and leisure complex andthere are 27 sports clubs for students to join.

For mature students (aged 21 or over) theAdvanced Diploma may be acceptable incombination with other academic qualificationsand experience where it has direct relevance tothe programme being applied to. Eachapplication will be considered on its own merit.

Applicants whose first language is not Englishshould demonstrate that they have attained aminimum of IELTS Grade 6.0 or equivalentEnglish language qualification.

The University of Ulster is a modern university,spread over four campuses which feel like littlevillages on their own with everything availableon campus. There are over 25,000 students,including 1000 international students from morethan 80 countries. The University is the only onein Britain with a charter stipulating that thereshould be courses below degree level.Certificates, diplomas and integratedfoundation years lead on to honours degrees.

Ulster has a strong reputation for research, withbiomedical sciences, nursing and midwifery andCeltic studies being ranked in the top three.

Sport is big at Ulster and the University has avision is to establish itself as the leadinguniversity for sport in Ireland.

Holders of an Advanced Diploma wishingto pursue further study with the Macau Instituteof Management in the Bachelor of BusinessAdministration programme (Chinese BBA) willbe given a 40% block exemption.

Further exemptions may be granted, and allapplications will be dealt with on an individualbasis.

Macau Institute of Management (MIM) is theacademic arm of the Macau ManagementAssociation, a registered and recognised highereducation institution in Macau.

Established in 1988, the Institute has beenplaying a key role in the training of managementexecutives in Macau. MIM offers a wide range ofacademic programmes, leading to qualificationsrecognised by the Macau SAR Government.
