Joint Logistics (Distribution) Joint Integration Concept (JL(D) JIC)
• This joint integrating concept calls for a join deployment and distribution enterprise (JDDE) capable of providing prospective Joint Force Commanders (JFCs) with the ability to rapidly and effectively move and sustain joint forces in support of joint operations.
JL(D) JIC includes:Tasks/Conditions/Standards
TASK: JL(D) JIC 3.1.2.1: Share information among all elements of the JDDE
Metrics: JL(D) JIC 3.1.2.1: Percent of JDDE personnel participating in communities of interest (100%)Percent of JDDE elements networked (100%)
TASK: JL(D) JIC 3.1.2.1.1: Utilize common logistics data (data transparency)
Metrics: JL(D) JIC 3.1.2.1.1: Percent of logistics data common to all JDDE participants (100%)

DPfM* Focus Area (Support IDE/GTN Convergence Implementation)
Provide common integrated data services to enable development of applications which will provide the Combatant Commands, Services, the DOD, and other federal agencies a cohesive solution for the management of supply chain, distribution, and logistics information. Convergence will provide a single point of systems connectivity within DLA and TRANSCOM, and other systems; ensuring consistent access to common, authoritative logistics data, business standards, and information visibility.

Item Unique Identifier (IUID)
This effort involves marking every (each) item over $5,000 in unit cost that is serially managed, mission essential, or sensitive items under $5,000 with a machine readable unique item identifier (UII). This UIIs would be centrally registered and retrievable from a database and readable through automatic data capture. Initiative intended to improve item tracking, inventory management, and product life cycle.

Transportation Tracking Number Determine a method of assigning a unique number to a unit move and having that number remain "authoritative" and truly "unique" despite the data system it transits. TCN, UIC, and ULN are all insufficient ether in capacity or in practice to do this. Challenges anticipated are in determining whether existing datafields are sufficient or whether new datafields are required; method of generating and disseminating single tracking numbers; and ability of systems to process/hand-off requirements and have them return to JOPES as valid requirements.
