Please call Digger's Hotline in your area, 3 working days before you plant to install you mailbox post. They will locate and mark all underground phone and electrical wires, as well as gas lines. MAILBOX POST ASSEMBLY (Refer to Drawing) Insert the 7/8 x 3 x 19” brace piece approximately 1” into the routed hole of the 1 ½ x 4 x 27 ½” rail. Slide both pieces into the routed holes on the front of 4 x 4 x 84” post. The 1 ½ x 4 x 27 ½” will slide completely through the 4 x 4 and stick out the backside of the post 16”. Fasten the 1 ½ x 4 x 27½” horizontal rail and the angled brace to post using the 2” kappet screws and caps. Use the 1¼” kappet screws and caps to fasten the horizontal rail and brace together. Apply glue to the inside of the 4” end caps and push caps onto both ends of horizontal rail (do not slide from end). Set the bracket over the horizontal rail lining up the bolt pilot holes. Fasten bracket to the rail using the 2 ¼” bolts with a washer on each side of the horizontal rail. Apply glue to inside edges of 4 x 4” post cap and place on top of the post. INSTALLATION Dig a posthole roughly 6-8” in diameter and 24” deep. Set post in hole and level the mailbox platform. Post may be set by packing with original soil from hole or you may use gravel or concrete (optional). Note: The top of the mailbox platform should be set at 40” from ground level per U.S. Postal Service guidelines. MAILBOX POST ASSEMBLY (Refer to Drawing) Insert the 7/8 x 3 x 19” brace piece approximately 1” into the routed hole of the 1 ½ x 4 x 27 ½” rail.
