make4 buttonholes (Buttonhole: Bind off 2 st. Next row: Cast on
2 sts over the bound-off sts): 1 buttonhole approx. 1 cm (0.4 in)
from each edge, 2 between them. Cont working in patt as charted

LEGWARMERS

HAT
Using needles size 5½ mm and white (black) yarn, cast on 88 sts.
Work in rnds 4 cm (1.6 in) in K2,P2 rib. K 1 rnd. Cont working
in St st and patt I as charted. Cont working in white (black) yarn,
and beg crown dec:*K6 , K2tog *, rep *-* across the rnd. Rep
dec every rnd, with 1 st less between dec until 14 sts rem. Break
yarn, and thread through rem sts, pull tightly, and weave in on
WS.
MITTENS
Using needles size 5½ mm and white (black) yarn, cast on 40 sts.
Work in rnds 7 cm (2.8 in) in K2,P2 rib. K 1 rnd, inc 4 sts evenly
across the rnd = 44 sts. Cont working in St st and patt I as
charted. When work measures approx. 14 cm (5.5 in), measured
from cast-on edge, place markers each side, 22 sts for both sides.
Thumb opening: Beg from marker, K1, slip5 sts on holder, cast
on 5 sts, and cont working in rnds in St st and patt I until work
measures approx. 22 -24 cm (8.7-9.4 in) (or 3 cm (1.2 in) less
than desired length). Beg dec: K2togtbl before the markers and
K2tog after the markers. Rep dec each side every rnd until 12 sts
rem. Break yarn, and thread through rem sts, pull tightly, and
weave in on WS.
Thumb: Slip 5 sts from holder on needles size5½ mm. Using
white (black) yarn, pick or knit up 5 sts from the cast-on sts + 1
st each side = 12 sts. Work in rnds in St st until thumb measures
approx. 6 cm (2.4 in). K all sts tog in pairs = 6 sts. Break yarn,
and thread through rem sts, pull tightly, and weave in on WS.
Work same for the other mitten, but in reverse.
Weave in all ends on WS.

Back
Change to white yarn. Cont working back and forth in St st,
adjusting evenly on 1st row the number of sts to be 97 sts + 1 st
each side (= selvage st, K each row) = 99 sts. When work
measures approx. 35 cm (13.8 in), work in patt inside selvage sts.
When patt is ready, cont working with grey yarn until work
measures the given length. Sl sts on holder.
Front
Work same as for back. When work measures approx. 63 cm
(24.8 in), bind off for neck edge 21 mid sts. Finish each side
separately. Bind off at neck edge every 2nd
row 1x3, 1x2, and 1x1

Finishing
Join shoulder seams..
Collar: Using needles size 5 mm and grey yarn, pick or knit up
84 sts. Work in rnds 20 cm (7.9 in) in K2,P2 rib. Bind off rather
loosely. Fold collar on RS.
Edges, both sides: Using needles size 5 mm and grey yarn, pick
or knit up along whole front and back approx. 198 sts (number of
sts must be multiple with 4 + 2 sts). Work back and forth approx.
3 cm (1.2 in) in K2,P2 rib. Bind off. Sew edges on hem rib.
Work same for the other edge.

same st. End with 1 sl st into ch-st beg of rnd.
Weave in all ends on WS.
CUDDLY TOY
Beg each rnd with ch1 (= 1st sc), and end with 1 sl st to ch-st beg
of rnd (same for the eyes). Ends are woven on WS.
Beg with a finger lock, fasten yarn with 1 sl st , ch1, 6 sc into

Fill the body with stuffing material. Work 2 rnds with grey yarn,

cleaner for stiffening the neck. Fill in the neck with stuffing
material.
Next 2 rnds: Beg mid back, 2 sc to first st, 1 sc to each st until 1
st rem, 2 sc to last st (= 22 sts).
Work 6 rnds with 1 sc to each st.
Fill in head with stuffing with stuffing material.
Next 3 rnds: Sctog all sts in pairs (= 3 sts rem).

Eyes (2 pcs)
1st rnd: Using crochet hook size 3½ mm and black yarn, ch2, 6
sc to 2nd

rnd: 1 sc, [2 sc to next st, 2 sc] 3 times, 2 sc to next st, 1 sc (=
16 st). Change to white rest yarn.

Sew 'starts' into eyes (= 3 sts crossing over each other).
Peak
Using needles size 3½ mm and orange clr yarn, cast on 21 sts.
Work back and forth in St st, and dec 1 at each edge of the work.
Rep dec every 2nd
row until 3 sts rem. Sl 1 st, K2tog, psso (= 1
st). Break yarn, leaving a bit longer yarn end. Use it for sewing
the sides tog. Fill in peak with stuffing material, and tighten the
sewing yarn a bit, to make the peak bend slightly.
Sew eyes and peak in their places (see photo).
Cut several lengths of orange yarn for hair, and tie like fringes on
top of the head. Beg from top.

Variation of half doule crochet (vhdc):
Yarn over hook, inset hook in the next st, draw a loop (=3
loops on hook). Pull last loop through the mid loop (=2
loops on hook). Yarn over hook, pull through rem loops.
2 vhdctog (dec 1 st):
Make 1 vhdc, but without last yarn over hook, make another
vhdc, and pull last yarn over through all loops on hook.

Striping:

st. Cont working back and forth with stripes, 1 vhdc to every st

row 4times (= 40-44-48 sts rem). Work without dec until
work measures approx. 15-17-19 cm (5.9-6.7-7.5 in). Beg from

Sew first a circle (diameter approx. 3 ½ cm (1.4 in) using white
Viking Eco Alpaca as shown in the drawing. Drawing features 5
basic sts, here 7 is used.
Using black yarn, sew then a smaller circle in satin st (diameter
approx. 2 cm (0.8 in) over the white one.
Finally, sew even a smaller circle in satin st (diameter approx. 1
cm (0.4 in) over the black one.
Peak
Using orange rest yarn, sew a diamond shaped peak with straight
sts (see photo).
Sew on sleeves, and the buttons. Weave in all ends on WS.
CUDDLY TOY
Using crochet hook size 5½ mm and beige yarn, ch14.

rnd one more time. Break yarn.
Sew over the white circle.
Using white yarn, sew a smaller circle in satin st (diameter
approx. 1 ½ cm (0.6 in) over the black one.

Using orange Viking Alpaca Superfine, sew as shown in the

Break yarn, and thread through rem sts, pull tightly and weave in
on WS.
Using light beige yarn, crochet picot edge around the edges:
Insert hook into first st mid back, and fasten with 1 sl st, [ch4, 1
sl st to first ch-st, 1 sc to 2nd
st], rep across the rnd. Break yarn,
and draw through the loop. Weave in all ends on WS.
Make altog. 3 flowers (or desired number). Sew on one side
forming a cluster. Sew one pearl in the center of each flower.
Weave in all ends on WS.
MITTENS
Using needles size 5½ mm and light beige yarn, cast on 32-40
sts. Work in rnds 9 cm (3.5 in) in St st. Turn work inside out (last
rnd = folding edge). Cont working in St st until work measures
approx. 18 cm (7.1 in), measured from cast-on edge. K 1 rnd, inc
4 sts evenly across the rnd = 36-44 sts. Work approx. 4-6 cm
(1.6-2.4 in) in St st. Place markers each side, 18-22 sts for each
side. Thumb opening: Beg from sidemarker, K1, slip next 4-5 sts
on holder, cast on 4-5 sts, and K rem sts. Cont working in rnds in
St st until work measures approx. 8-10 cm (3.1-4 in) (or 3 cm
(1.2 in) less than the desired length). Beg dec: K2tog before
sidemarkers, and K2togtbl after the sidemarkers. Rep dec every
rnd until 8-8 sts rem. Break yarn, and thread through rem sts, pull
tightly and weave in on WS.
Thumb: Slip 4-5 sts from holder on needles size 5½ mm, knit or
pick up 4 sts from the cast-on sts + 1 st both sides = 10-12 sts.
Work in rnds in St st until thumb measures approx. 5-6 cm (2-2.4
in) (or desired length). K all sts tog in pairs = 5-6 sts rem. Break
yarn, and thread through rem sts, pull tightly, and weave in on
WS.
Work same for the other mitten, but in reverse.
Weave in all ends on WS.
Crochet a picot edge along the cast-on edges (see hat).
Make 2 (or desired number) flowers. Sew on folding edge with a
pearl in the center.
SCARF
(Worked in St st, but can as well be worked in Garter st)
Using needles size 5½ mm and beige yarn, cast on 30 sts. Work
back and forth 140-160 cm (55.1-63 in) (or desired length) in St
st, but beg and end each row with 3 sts in Garter st. Bind off
rather loosely.
Crochet a picot edge to both short edges (see hat).
Make 4 (or desired number) flowers. Sew on RS at each end.
Sew a pearl in the center of each flower.
Weave in all ends on WS.
