What do I cite?◦ Everything you read that provided you
understanding and gave you insight Magazine articles, books, text, web pages
How do I cite it?◦ Include an in-text citation where the information
came from another source◦ Place the reference on the reference page
Do I have to cite something in-text if I don’t quote the work?◦ ABSOLUTELY!◦ You need to provide a citation for EVERYTHING that
include in your paper, regardless if you paraphrase OR directly quote.
Paraphrase?◦ To write someone else’s ideas in your own words. ◦ Requires a citation or it is plagiarism
Direct Quote◦ Rule of thumb – never have more than 20% of your
citations be direct quotes.◦ Requires page or paragraph number
