11 year old girl from Dale Farm writes letter to David
Cameron pleading for him to stop the forced eviction of
theTravellers site
The Irish Traveller Movement in Britain has received a letter to
David Cameron from11 year old Eileen OBrien on Dale Farm Travellers
site pleading with him to stop theforced eviction of her and her
family from their home. Eileens parents handed theletter to ITMB to
send to Prime Minister Cameron and circulate to the public.
Yvonne MacNamara, Director of ITMB said:
Eileens voice is one of up to a 150 children who will be
forcefully removed from theirhomes when Basildon Council evict the
residents of Dale Farm Travellers site onMonday 19thSeptember. Over
a hundred of the Dale Farm children - including Eileen- attend the
local primary school at Crays Hill and this eviction will rip them
away fromtheir friends, their education and possibly from their
future prospects.
The Childrens Commissioner for England has written to Basildon
Council expressingserious concerns about the welfare of children on
Dale Farm in the event of aneviction. The Childrens Society has
called on Basildon and the government tosuspend the evictionto
insure Dale Farm childrens rights are respected. ITMB callon
Basildon and the government to stop the eviction of Dale Farm and
the senseless
and needless trauma which children will suffer.
