10/4/2012, Montgomery County Fairgrounds, 7:30 PM

Field Report : Bob Clark and other volunteers continue to clear out the trees and shrubs on the East side of the field. Twelve truck

loads of debri was hauled away a week ago. Although Bob was not present to give an update due to recent cataractsurgery, he has promised to stop once he reaches Dixie Ave.

Old Business :Sept 14th & 15th was Santiago's Helicopter Fun Fly. There were approximately 45 pilots registered to fly by mid-daySaturday. After all expenses were paid, the event made $765. This event has clearly become our second biggestmoney maker. It deserves our support and assistance during future events.

On Sept 30th, we held our annual President's Fun Fly. It was a beautiful day, even though a bit windy. We servedapproximately 40 steaks, 14 chicken breasts, baked potatoes, and rolls. Hamburgers and hot dogs were available forthe children. It's great to be a Wingmaster.

The $2,900 check will be turned over to the Hospice of Dayton folks on October 9th. We'll include pictures in thenext newsletter. As an aside, the event earned approximately $500 more than last year, due in large part to a rafflePaul Stimmel held at his work place that specialized in booze, booze, & more booze.

New Business :The nomination process for our 2013 officers was begun. Before any nominations were taken, President Stimmelannounced that he would neither seek nor accept a 5th term as President. He emphasized that serving has been a joyand privilege but he is "out of gas" and wants someone new to step forward and offer new ideas. He promises toremain a member in good standing and continue to volunteer & help out in the club wherever he is needed. He wasgiven a round of applause for the time he has served and the programs he has overseen which includes theelectrification of our field. Thanks for all your work, Paul.

With that, the following nominations were made from the floor: Note: Additional nominations will be taken during the November meeting and then the election will be held.

    President: Jerry Humston Joe Saylor

    Vice-President: Romy Schwieterman Ken Eubanks

    Treasurer: Bob Bush

    Secretary: Jerry Harsch

    Newsletter Editor: Jerry Humston

$25.00 Gift Certificate Winners: Carl Witwer

Meeting Closed at approximately 8:00 PM.

Our next meeting at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds is scheduled for November1st. As members we are tasked each year with the nomination and election of newofficers. This will all happen by the close of our next meeting. We have a number offine members who have been nominated, and we could get a couple more during thenext meeting. Please make plans to attend this important meeting so that we get a goodrepresentation of our membership. Our club now has approximately 110 members, something as important as the election of officers should not fall on the 20 to 30 peoplewho attend.Another matter that I want to address is the decision to have a Christmas Dinner thisyear. Last year we had approximately 10 people show up, going forward if there is littleinterest we should cancel any plans. However if we have a commitment from memberswho would like to attend an event, we’ll continue putting something together.

One last piece of business that I want to address is the clearing of trees and brush atthe far east side of the field. There have been a number of members who havevolunteered their time to assist with this project and they have our appreciation;however I would be remiss not to mention the effort turned in by Bob Clark. From theshelter the area doesn’t look that large, but when you walk back to the patch it’sactually quite large. Most of the trees are now down and the brush has been clearedaway. There is still a little clean up required, but wow what a difference! The next time you see Bob, give him a pat on the back, he deserves it.

I’ll see you at our next meeting November 1st 7:30 Montgomery County Fairgrounds
