CII Western Region, since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic has been working actively

to provide relief and assistance to the district communities, government hospitals,

municipal corporations, police department and railways, in addition to the vulnerable

Circular regarding functioning of

Courts

As per circular no. DSC/HC-COVID-

19/529/2021/3838 dated 3 May 2021, it was

stated that in view of Clause 1 of the Circular

dated 16/04/2021 of the Hon’ble High Court

of Bombay, the Principal District & Sessions

Judges/Head of the Establishment may take

the decision to entrust the aforesaid work to

requisite the strength of Judicial Officers with

50% strength of staff, by rotation and further

modified vide letter No.Insp-1/34/2021 dated

22.04.2021 by the Hon’ble High Court of

Bombay, to the extent of strength/

attendance of staff, from 50% to 15% by

rotation.

Further, in view of order u/s 144 of Criminal

Procedure Code, 1973 vide No.

8/8/2021/MAG/L&o/Vol-II/1078, dated

02/05/2021 of the Office of the Collector &

District Magistrate, North Goa District, issued

due to surge in COVID-19 cases in the state,

the following arrangement is made for the

functioning of all courts in North Goa District

to take up remand, ball and most urgent

criminal and civil matters w.e.f. 04.05.2021

till 07.05.2021 with Judicial working hours of

2½ hours with 15% strength of staff, by

rotation. All the Judicial Officers will instruct

their respective staff accordingly.

All civil courts in Bicholim, Sattari and

Pernem, Judicial Officers shall attend the

court on all working days, holidays and

Sundays.The Judicial Officers nominated on

the mentioned days for remand and urgent

work shall be considered as the remand

Judges for the whole day. However, the

regular remand work should be attended by

the regular remand Judge on Saturday &

Sunday i.e. 08.05.2021 & 09.05.2021

GUJARAT

Extension of Night Curfew & Curbs

in Gujarat

The Gujarat Government on 4th May issued

a notification extending night curfew in 36

cities of Gujarat. While permitting essential

services and industries to function in 36

urban areas, the government has asked all

shops, commercial establishments, road-side

kiosks, restaurants (except take-away

service), shopping complexes, malls,

GurjariBazzars, cinema halls, auditoriums,

salons and beauty parlours, swimming pools

to remain closed till 12thMay. During the

curfew period, pregnant women or any

person suffering from any ailment will be

permitted to travel along with an attendant.

Passengers travelling by train, bus or

aeroplane will also be permitted, provided

they show their tickets. Those connected

with essential services and carrying identify

cards, can move during curfew hours.

For weddings, only 50 persons will be

allowed after registration on Digital Gujarat

portal. For final rites, 20 persons can

participate. Everyone needs to follow social

distancing, wear masks and other covid

norms as well people visiting Gujarat from

other states need to undergo RT – PCR test.

This notification will be applicable till further

updates are provided and need to be

followed strictly in state.

Gujarat Government announces

uniform policy of admission of

Covid patients across State

As per order no. NCV/102021/SFS-10/G,

dated 6 May 2021 issued by the Health &

Family Welfare Department, Government of

Gujarat, any individual suspected with

COVID-19 should be admitted in any hospital

across state without the requirement of RT-

PCR report. Resident of any state or city can

be admitted for treatment and will be

provided with necessary drugs and oxygen.

MADHYA PRADESH

Extension of Corona Curfew till

15thMay in Madhya Pradesh

The Government of Madhya Pradesh

announced an extension of corona curfew till

15th May in the state and requested citizens

to break the chain of infection by staying at

home. The government also advised

postponement all the marriages & weddings

in state and ordered halting MNERGA work

in villages where there is even a single

positive case of COVID.

Free treatment of Corona in Madhya

Pradesh

The Government of Madhya Pradesh

announced the launch of a new scheme for

free treatment of COVID patients in state. A

special package will be provided to private

hospitals on Ayushman Bharat Yojana for the

implementation of the scheme. Under the

scheme, the state government would provide

free tests, CT scan, medicines and injection

to infected patients.

Special Meeting of CII Goa State

Council with Past Chairmen and

State Council on appropriate

measures to be taken due to the

COVID-19 crisis in Goa

A virtual meeting was organized with the

industry members to identify appropriate

measures that the industry can adopt

following the sharp rise in COVID-19 cases

in Goa. The meeting was attended by Mr Atul

Jadhav, Chairman, CII Goa State Council,

Ms Swati Salgaocar, Vice-Chairperson, CII

Goa State Council, Mr Blaise Costabir,

Immediate Past Chairman CII Goa and MD,

GMI Zarhak Moulders Pvt. Ltd, Mr Lalit

Saraswat, Past Chairman and Director,

Sancoale Shipping Ltd., Mr Atul Pai Kane,

Past Chairman, and MD, Power Engineering

India P Ltd and Mr Prakash Jalan, Past

Chairman, and Director, Linc Property

Developers Ltd among others.

Among other things, the members suggested

the government to mandate all industrial

estates to administer COVID-19 testing to all

their employees at least thrice a month andif

the positivity rate crosses a particular

threshold, then all employees within that

industrial estate would have to exercise

corrective measures.

COVID Crises Mitigation Team –

Virtual Meeting with Hon’ble Chief

Minister of Goa

A virtual meeting was organised between the

industry members and Dr Pramod Sawant,

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa to discuss the

current COVID-19 situation and present

suggestions to the state government to curb

the increase in infections in the state.

The government urged corporates to provide

their CSR funds for mitigating the COVID-19

crisis in the state and also to provide

necessary facilities to the patients. The

government also called for strict enforcement

of restrictions and prohibitions instead of a

complete lockdown, as it would hamper the

state’s economy.

Among the various suggestions put forth by

the industry to the government included

minimising all economic activity requiring in-

person presence at the workplace, reviewing

all critical operations and re-designing

workflow to the extent possible to minimise

the need for physical presence of

employees, ramping up vaccination of

employees and as vaccine availability

improves, extending vaccination facility to

neighbouring communities.
