Our Presbyterian Women Board Meeting is November 5 at 9:30 am and we will be packing veterans gifts after meeting at 10:30 am. Our circle meetings are Tuesday, November 12th. Day Circle at 10 am and Night Circle at 7 pm. Please come join us for our third Bible study titled “Words of Love: Keep Sabbath” from the study guide “Love Carved in Stone: A Fresh Look at the Ten Commandments”. Come join us at either circle time for an enjoyable, prayerful time with like minded ladies.
Each Sunday in November, PW will be collecting COATS AND SWEATERS for the Veterans Christmas Party held on December 3rd. Be sure to bring both men’s and women’s coats, sweaters, and jackets plainly marked with size and gender. The veterans do enjoy getting a warm coat so please support us in this endeavor.
Presbyterian Women’s project, Wreaths Across America - Houston, sales continue until November 20th and forms are in the narthex. Each December these wreaths are laid on veterans gravesites at Houston National Cemetery and at more than 1600 additional locations across America. Please support this vital PW project.
In December we will have the VETERANS CHRISTMAS PARTY ON DECEMBER 3RD. If you are planning on going to the veterans hospital please let Melba Slaven know as soon as possible and be sure that you are able to walk long distances and stand for long periods of time because of the new area designated for the party.
The PW board meeting will be December 2nd this year due to the party schedule of December 3rd and board members will be packing cookies for the party after the board meeting.

Young at Heart Young at Heart met on a third Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019 at 10 a.m.on a cool Fall day. We gathered to hear a devotional entitled, “God is Greater than the Facts.” It reminded us that no matter what our problems are, God still has the final say…..not the “facts.” Prayers of gratitude for our new minister, Rev. Dr. Fairfax Fair. Thank you God for sending her to us. Reminder: We have an open invitation to join St. Stephens for their Senior trips. Next one is November 26th to visit St. Martin’s Episcopal Church and have lunch in their cafeteria. For more information 281-392-2485. Claudio won the door prize: He got a glimpse of the bag as it went right past to Margarita! Thank you, Elois Murray for donating the door prize this month. If you would like to be eligible for the door prize, be sure and sign up with Joan. Jokes were performed by Heather, Ruth and Nell. They are hardly worth repeating!! So I won’t. Then it was off to the game tables. Since there were only 3 Chickenfeet….I was the 4th. But I was only running up the score waiting for Linda E., who was late! Hand and Foot ladies (oh where was Marvin)? Running around the church doing whatever he does! If you enjoy table games, this is the place for you. Join us next month, November 21. Always the 3rd Thursday at 10 a.m. All Seniors 55+ are welcome. Bring a dish and we’ll be looking for you. Hugs,Joan

GROWING IN GRACE & GRATITUDE SUNDAY MORNINGS THIS FALL AT FIRST!
All children, youth and adults are invited to be part of a small group each Sunday morning from 9-10. The Discipleship Committee is grateful for the men and women who will serve as our 2019-20 team of Sunday School teachers. We are also grateful for the high percentage of learners in this community of faith. Our children (up to 5th graders) will be using the PCUSA curriculum, “Growing in Grace & Gratitude”. Our youth (6th-12th graders) will be asking more hard questions about God and Faith using the “Can I Ask That 2” curriculum. Additional class information may be found in related articles. May God bless us as together we grow in grace and gratitude Sunday mornings at FPC.

To study the Bible from a literary perspective is definitely different, and adds greatly to understanding and applying God’s Word to our everyday lives.
