BASIC OVERVIEW AND DIMENSIONS

This 10 x 8 shed is an exquisite and spacious mini shed with an overall body width of 8 feet and 1 inches from

including the roof. The shed is equipped with a tall and broad front door with a height of 6 feet and 7 ½ inches

FOUNDATION AND FLOOR

The first step of creating your shed is to build a solid foundation and floor. The foundation will be supporting the entire

structure of your shed so it is a must to make sure it is strong enough. The foundation base should be 10 feet in length

and 8 feet in width as shown in the figure. Use 4x4 pressure treated skids for the foundation. As for the floor, use ¾”

tongue and groove plywood as shown in the figure. Use truss and skids carefully and make sure they are fitted and

spaced accurately.

2

NOTE

Buy per-designed joists and skids if you are new to building sheds. This way, you will reduce the chances of any complications in sizing and spacing.

WALL STRUCTURES

Once you have set up the floor and the foundation, the next task is to work on the walls. The front and the back

wall will be 7 feet and 10 ¾ inches in width and 7 feet and 6 inches in height. For the front wall, cut the space for

the door as shown in the figure. Use L joints, cripple studs, plates, headers and wall studs to assemble the parts.

Once the frames are constructed, use T1-11 siding with galvanized nails and exterior screws to finish the frames.

3

NOTE

Add self-adhering flashing on the bottom edges of the windows before installing T1-11.

WALL STRUCTURES

The right and left walls should be 9 feet and 5 inches in width from the top and 10 feet in width at the

bottom. The difference in size is because the top area will accommodate the roof. The width of both the

walls should be 7 feet and 6 inches in height. Use L joints, cripple studs, plates, headers and wall studs to

assemble the parts. Once the frames are constructed, use T1-11 siding with galvanized nails and exterior

screws to finish the frames.

4

NOTE

Make sure the edges of T1-11 do not overlap each other as this will compromise the functioning and appearance of the T1-11.

ROOF SECTION

Once all the wall structures are completed, it is time to get to the roof. The roof is the most complex part of

the shed. There is a lot of heavy lifting required. Therefore, it is recommended to have additional help.

Start with building roof rafters of 60 inches in dimension.Use ½ plywood for roof sheathing and asphalt

shingles for finishing the roof. Your roof needs to strong and the parts should be fit accurately to avoid any

leakages. Install T1-11 on the two outer most trusses using galvanized nails. Follow manufacturer’s

guidelines to install the shingles.

5

NOTE

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully while installing the shingles. Get additional help for the roofing task to safely get the job done.
