HistoryThe Gates on Roblin is nestled on the banks of the assiniboine River, spanning a majestic seven acres of landscaped grounds. beautifully mani-cured gardens and walking paths surround the 16,000 square foot state-of-the-art ballroom, sophisticated lounge area, intimate private din-ing rooms, and a sundeck that’s the perfect spot to lounge and take in the incredible view.
The estate, originally called Woodlands, had been the summer cottage of T. eaton Company research-er and horticulturalist, Fred Pugh, in the early 1900s. Friends and family often visited, enjoying games of tennis, badminton, clock golf, croquet and walks through the award-winning gardens and orchard.
When Pugh retired, the T. eaton Company re-placed his summer cottage with a year-round family home as a parting gift. The Dutch Colonial house saw several owners over the years, and was eventually converted into a quaint country-style restaurant. The biggest changes were yet to come, and in the 2000s the house was renovated to be-come a multi-room restaurant with an expansive lounge and deck. an all-season, technologically advanced 400-seat ballroom and conference center was also added, which modernized the estate while still maintaining its original appeal.
Today, The Gates on Roblin is owned by nancy Carson and Ray louie. Together they strive to carry on the history that came before them and to keep the property a place to enjoy for years to come.
For ten years, The Gates on Roblin has been exceeding expectations in every way. hosting a multitude of special events including weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, birthdays, anniversaries, and gala banquets, it has created many unique and lasting memories for its guests. Through these events, it has gained recognition from those who matter most – its guests and customers. Through 2009 – 2015, The Gates on Roblin has been awarded the Consumer’s Choice award for Fine Dining in Manitoba.

The Gates on Roblin continues to build and improve on their spectacular sunday brunch. From its in-ception 10 years ago, the sunday brunch has evolved from a compact affair completely situated in the lobby to a sprawling array of food stations that encompasses most of the main floor. The Gates’ brunch experience is often completed with a short trek across the property to feed a carrot or two to the ponies.
The Gates on Roblin offers complete flexibility and customization in your special event menus. no menu is too large or complex and all ethnic and dietary requests are welcome.
