In conjunction with United Voice 10th anniversary, a

On the night of the event, exhibition and sales of United
Voice’s products were set up at the entrance of the ball-
room. The products on sales were T-shirts, handicrafts,
bookmarks, greeting cards and cookies.

The highlight of the night was the special perfor-
mance by the members, parents and staff of
United Voice titled “Under The Sea”. The perfor-
mance was very meaningful and memorable
because it tells about how people with learning
disabilities feel, their rights and to voice up for
themselves. It was in accordance with United
Voice’s mission to make a difference in the lives of
persons with learning disabilities through love and
perseverance.
Last but not least, there were also lucky draws and
singing performances by UV members. The dinner
was a success and everyone presence had a
memorable and enjoyable night. We would like to
thank all the people who have helped in one way
or another, with their financial support and partici-
pation to make this event a memorable one.

Bengkel Penyokongby Mohd Shahell
(Ahli Mutiara Voice Club, Penang)
masalah.
Pada pendapat saya, setiap kelab advokasi diri perlu
seorang penyokong untuk membantu dalam urusan
bagi setiap kelab. Di antara ciri-ciri yang perlu ada
pada setiap penyokong ialah mesti bersabar dengan
OKU intelek atau orang yang bermasalah pelajaran,
mesti memahami perangai setiap orang bermasalah
pelajaran, berkemahiran, mesra OKU dan lain-lain
lagi.
Sebelum saya menamatkan laporan saya, saya
ingin mengucapkan ribuan terima kasih kepada
United Voice kerana menjemput saya ke bengkel ini.
Sekian, terimakasih.

10th Anniversary Dinner
ASEAN Disability Forumby Esther Emily Yap
Jee Ching(second from left) & Felicia(third from left) presenting at the Forum
UV members and staff at the Forum
On 21st - 22nd October a few of us, UV members and staff attended the ASEAN Disability Forum 2015. I am very excited. On the first day, the speakers talked about political and security including PWDs in national development in ASEAN countries. They also talked about ASEAN Decade for person with disabilities 2011-2020 on what we had achieved and where we were heading.
Some of the other topics at the forum:• Promotion of accessible election• Economic integration, employment and economic empowerment of PWD in Malaysia• Transforming social protection of PWDs in ASEAN• Status of women and children in ASEAN• Higher education opportunities for PWDs• Universal design environment and accessible transportation for PWD• Independent Living• Best practices in inclusive education• Experiences of parents with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)• Assistive devices• Access to information they spoke about• Sexuality and disability
Felicia Fang, president of United Voice spoke about self advocacy and her experience and UV staff, Jee Ching spoke about self advocacy and quality of support.
I have learnt that there are many challenges faced by PWDs such as limited access to basic rights, health care service, education, informa-tion and media as well as work through this conference. I am happy to know that there are many programs to help PWDs to lead indepen-dent lives within the community.
