These questions are a mixture of challenges to encourage your child to think about position and turns. Show your child a compass and get out a few maps to show how

the grid numbering works. Work out together the grid references of certain places and plan routes using directional language.

These pages cover further multiplication practice with 3x and 4x tables as well. Encourage your children to chant or sing the times tables they know to get the facts

reinforced in their minds. Times table podcasts can be downloaded from the www.dk.co.uk website.

If your child needs some help, discuss with her/him what goes within each box on the Carroll diagram. For the Venn diagram, can your child explain why

some of the words are in the overlapping section of the two circles?

Space has been provided for children to set out their workings or draw to visualize the problem. Remind

them to write the unit (p or £) for each answer. There is no “p” needed if a “£” sign has already been used.

These questions are a mixture of challenges to encourage your child to think about position and turns. Show your child a compass and get out a few maps to show how

the grid numbering works. Work out together the grid references of certain places and plan routes using directional language.
