10.7.15 Augustan Newsletter Social Studies by Joshua Whitley This October in Social Studies we will study physical features, landforms, and landmarks. Math by Katlyn Jones In math we will be learning about multiplying and dividing fractions and decimals. Multiplying fractions is easy and fun! You‘re not actually multiplying anything, you’re dividing. Make sure you always double check your work. If you make a mistake that means try a little harder the next time. Math is an important thing you do in everyday life. So make sure you try your hardest at whatever you do. Language Arts by Brea Rodriguez What are we doing in language arts? We are reading the class book The Cay . What is going to happen next? Don't forget to turn in your row on Wednesdays. No one wants a detention for not turning it in. We are also starting WordlyWise Vocab. Our first test is Oct 15 th . Make sure to use Mrs. Christian’s website for the vocabulary websites to help you study. Have you gotten the 20 AR points for extra credit this 6 weeks? Those points will add points to your lowest grade in any class as long as you tell the teacher. We are also working on Congratulations to these 6A students who made the Newsletter Staff. These students will be creating the Augustan Newsletter each six weeks with the help of Mrs. Christian. Choir by Lily Bynum In Choir we are learning some pretty cool songs like “Firefly.” We are touching up some songs and getting ready for our choir concert. It is coming up very soon! Also Harmony and All Region tryouts were on Friday, hope you practiced!! (keep your lamps trimmed and burning , Firefly , The clouds , And Ma Balia Beam Ba.) Halloween by Lily Bynum Halloween is coming up and kids are ready to go trick- or-treating. Be sure to always have an adult with you and don’t go in people’s houses that you do not know. Also be sure not to eat open candy and have your parents check your candy before you eat it. Happy Halloween! Sports by Katlyn Jones Randall High School had an away game at Tascosa High School. Friday, October 2 nd at 7:30p.m. Hope you were there to support your Raiders. Randall has a .750% winning percent. Whatever sport you do try your hardest at it and you will succeed. Science with Mrs. Ledford by Kaylee Loya We will be learning about the Periodic Table of Elements and what element they make combined. Just to know this unit is one of the funniest units in science... So Pay Close Attention! Don’t slack off.

Social Studies by Joshua WhitleyThis October in Social Studies we will study physical features, landforms, and landmarks.

Math by Katlyn JonesIn math we will be learning about multiplying and dividing fractions and decimals. Multiplying fractions is easy and fun! Mrs. Ledford’s BIG NEWS! By Kaylee LoyaMy teacher is having a baby! Is it a BOY or a GIRL? Mrs. Ledford doesn’t even know yet. Hopefully, soon enough, we’ll find out. CONGRATS, MRS. LEDFORD!

Tuning in with Mrs. Denning by Kaylee LoyaBAND KIDS, LISTEN UP! We will be talking about our concert coming up in December later on this month. Good job to the kids that are switching instruments. FINALLY, we will actually learn songs this month! So be prepared and listen closely.

October Weather by Joshua WhitleyOctober’s temperatures will start cooling off as we move into the fall season but will be wetter than usual so prepare to bring those umbrellas out! The storms are coming Greenways’ way!

Lunar Eclipse by Joshua WhitleyLast month on the 27th there was an jaw dropping lunar eclipse in the night sky at around 9:45 p.m. It could be clearly seen from Amarillo. The Earth was blocking sunlight from reaching the moon that’s why there was a shadow on that night giving the moon a red tint.
