Username and passwordUsername and password

• Keep your password secret!• You are allowed to use all common

computer resources (PC:s, printers, e-mail, network...)

• Personal ÅA-username and password is required (You should have gotten them already)

• Your username is valid as long as you’re a registered student at ÅA

• Read and follow the regulations! • Keep your password secret!

• Get it at the International Office unless you don’t already have gotten it.

• You will need to sign the user agreement– Bring your ID

• Please follow the rules in and respect the agreement.

• Choose a good (secure) password! • The password must be at least 8

characters, and contain at least one number (but not åäö!).

• Change your password at: https://web.abo.fi/dc/password

• Do not use the Åbo Akademi username/password in other systems

• The Computing Centre will NEVER ask for your password.

• If somebody asks for your password, do not give it! Beware of phishers!

• The e-mail quota is 500 MB

• Check your e-mail quota usage in webmail or Thunderbird

• No e-mail messages can be received if the quota is exceeded


AttachmentsAttachments

• Executable attachments will be delayed if delivered at all!

• Large attachments are not delivered

• Many mail lists will not accept attachments at all


SpamfiltersSpamfilters

• ÅA has a system that identifies (a part of) the spam-messages and gives them ”spam-scores”

• A default filter is set for all new students– Possible-spam-messages are put in

a folder named Spam


GreylistingGreylisting

• The very first time you receive a message from a certain non-ÅA address the message will be bounced back to the sending server

• A ”normal” mail server tries to resend the message after a while – ok, but a slight delay!

• Further communication from the same address will not be delayed

• Some sites might be blacklisted
