Homeowners who suffer the inconvenience and unpleasantness of flooded basements, wet yards, or malfunctioning septic systemsnow have an economical solution for surface water removal by using DrainTech™ basins, channel drains and grates fromAdvanced Drainage Systems.

Manufactured using rigid, lightweight polyolefins, DrainTech basins and channels are easy to install, long lasting and require littlemaintenance. For shallow applications, DrainTech low-profile drains are recommended.

DrainTech structures include a wide range of grates available in four colors for use in turf, landscaping and hard surface areas.Most grates have a non-skid surface and are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (see items marked “ADACompliant”).

Through the use of universal adapters, DrainTech structures can easily connect to the most common types of pipe used in land-scaping and turf applications, including corrugated and smooth wall polyethylene pipe, and schedule 40 PVC pipe. The basins arealso interchangeable with many competing grates.

The DrainTech line of structures also includes valve boxes with risers, for use in landscape irrigation systems.

For a complete drainage system, ADS also provides singlewall corrugated polyethylene pipe and TripleWall® pipe for downspout androof-to-curb connections. Channel Basins, Grates and Parts

Applications: Channel basins and grates are used where hard surfaces create a greater volume of runoff than can be handled by round or square basins. Ideal for driveways, sidewalks, garages, swimming pools, patios, sports fields and greenhouses.

Channel Installation Instructions 1. Excavate a trench wide enough and deep enough to accommodate the channel plus bedding

layer. For light vehicular traffic, bedding should be 1" of sand or compacted soil. A bed of concrete should be used where additional support is required, or in areas subject to freezing and thawing.

2. Run a string line at each end of the trench as a guide for keeping the channel at the correct level. Begin the installation from the drain (discharge) end of the channel.

3. Cement the channel, connectors, end caps, strainers, etc. together with a PVC adhesive. Attach the channel outlet to the drain pipe and cement. Install the top grates on the channel, then apply tape over the grate openings, to prevent construction debris from getting into the drain.

4. Use anchor stakes (available upon request), wooden stakes or metal stakes to anchor the channel every 2-3 feet along the trench. Backfill with sand, soil or concrete (depending on the application). Remove stakes and pour the surrounding slab.

NOTES:

1. In asphalt or hot mastic applications, the channel must be encased in concrete for added strength and to prevent distortion during installation.

2. For concrete installations, the grate should be installed and taped over prior to pouring concrete or backfill, to prevent debris from entering drain and to prevent deformation of the unit during installation.

3. For non-traffic installations, the grate should be recessed below grade a minimum of 1/8" and for traffic installations, a minimum of 1/4"

4. Expansion joints must be used parallel to, but not immediately adjacent to, each side of the drain run, and crack control joints utilized at right angles to the channel.
