Dear Parents, The term has got off to a good start and the children all seem well settled and ready for ac-tion. Kew College Rules! New Parents’ Handbook In order to answer all the day to day questions new parents may have, which are not cov-ered by the official Kew College Parents’ Handbook, the Kew College Communications Committee, in collaboration with other parents, has written a very informative, easy to read handbook for new parents called ‘Kew College Rules!’ The handbook aims to provide useful information about life at Kew College from a parent’s perspective and is delightfully illustrated by the children. A copy is being sent out with Kew News today for each current Kew College family and we hope that you will find it useful. Our new families have received their copies already and the feedback has been very positive! We would like to thank the Communications Commit-tee, and Dina Heaney in particular, for all the hard work which has gone into producing this handbook. The official Kew College Parents’ Handbook for 2012-13 will be available shortly.

KINDERGARTEN BLUE AND GREEN Dear Kindergarten parents On Thursday 27th September at 5.30pm you are all warmly welcomed to a Phonics meet-ing. The meeting will be held in one of the school’s classrooms and you will be directed to it when you arrive into the school. As you know, the teaching of phonics is an important part of the children’s work in Kindergarten. This is a follow up to the one held earlier this year. During the meeting we would like to introduce to you the reading scheme used to teach your child to read as well as explaining how to support your child with their Guided reading home work. We look forward to meeting you all.

Relatives Day for Year 3 We hope that the children are looking forward to showing a relative or close friend around on Wednesday. We do realise that it was short notice for some people but this is a trial and we hope to phase it into other years. If all your relatives, Godparents etc live a long way away please do bring a friend, neighbour who your child would like to show round their classroom. The morning will start at 9am with the children singing in the hall, followed by a tour of the school and ending with re-freshments in the hall. We know there will be some tweaking to do for next time but we do hope it will be a fun morning for all. Second Hand Uniform We are desperately short of uniform for the second hand sales.
