6th Annual Concord Antiques Show
The Trinitarian Congregational Church of Concord will hold its 46th Annual Antiques Show on November 6 and 7, 2015. The show is a favorite among locals and visitors who love the variety of dealers, reasonable prices, and homemade food. Over 30 select-ed exhibitors from throughout the Northeast sell everything from country furniture and accessories to Victorian pattern furnishings and glass, jewelry, fine china, antique maps and prints, decora-tive accessories and much, much more. It is a great opportunity to shop for that special piece for your home or to pick up hostess
and holiday gifts for those “hard to shop for” friends and relatives.
Show hours are 10 AM to 5 PM on Friday, November 6 and Saturday, November 7. Admission to the show is $8. Children under 12 are free. Look for the coupon in local papers to get $1.00 off admission.
This all-volunteer show, one of the last antiques sales in the area to still be held, is quintes-sential New England. The church runs its own country kitchen, with members serving delicious soups, sandwiches and baked goods for lunch at the café or to take home to savor. You will also be able to purchase delightful and delicious jars of homemade
jelly, candied nuts, fudge, etc. to satisfy your own sweet tooth or to give as gifts.
Stop for lunch, browse the antiques, visit with friends and enjoy a fall tradition while sup-porting a good cause!
All church proceeds from the sale support Mission and Outreach Programs. Started forty-five years ago as a fund-raiser to bring a young man from India, who was studying for the ministry, to undergo lifesaving surgery and months long reha-bilitation here in the Boston area, the Antiques Show has since pro-vided over a half million dollars in support to local, Metro-West and international charitable orga-nizations.
Trinitarian Congregational Church is located at 54 Walden Street in Concord, MA. For more information or directions, please call 978-369-4837 or go to www.triconchurch.org.

“Early Maps Of Sudbury-Who Made
Them and Why”A unique and fascinating pro-
gram awaits anyone who has an interest in old maps and the stories they tell on Sunday November 1st at Sudbury Town Hall (Rt. 27/Concord Rd.) at 2PM when the Sudbury Historical Society will present an exhibi-tion of maps from the collec-
tion of Robert Maier. The main speaker will be Jan Hardenbergh, a Sudbury resident and member of the Sudbury Historical Society who reports that he “has always loved maps and has been col-lecting and scanning maps of Sudbury for many years.”
Hardenbergh will be discuss-ing how his project evolved and will begin with the six early maps of Sudbury from 1707-1889: who created them and why. For
example why did residents on the west side of the Sudbury River need their own meetinghouse as far back as 1707? What did the Town of Sudbury do to comply with the Resolve of 1794? Which maps were created as commer-cial ventures? In addition he will speak about how his newly pub-lished book, The Historical Maps of Sudbury, came to be and also why the 1677 Foster map of New England and the 1687 plot plan, including Nonesuch Pond, are fascinating for several reasons. Sudbury resident Bob Maier will be displaying the original hand-painted Sudbury Then and Now map and will also have other rare Sudbury maps to complement the Historical Society’s collec-tion. The presentation promises to be an important resource for researchers as well as for those who are interested in the history of early map-making.
Sale items, including framed and unframed maps from the Society’s collection and Hardenbergh’s book, will be available . Refreshments will be served. A donation of $5 from non-members is appreciated.
The Sudbury HistoricaL Society is a private non-prof-it organization which seeks to
preserve the history of Sudbury through its collections and also to make history come alive with its exhibits and programs.

Minuteman Announces Federal Food Service
GuidelinesMinuteman High School is
reminding families that it takes part in the national school lunch and breakfast programs – and that free or reduced priced meals are available to students whose families are eligible.
“At Minuteman, we believe that a healthy breakfast and lunch should be available to all students. That’s why free and reduced priced meals are available to our students every school day,” said Heather Shastany, Food Service Director at Minuteman.
Minuteman High School uti-lizes the district website (www.Minuteman.org) to inform Minuteman families of the avail-ability of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs, Shastany said.
The eligibility criteria for free and reduced priced meals are set by the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines. The com-plete chart for eligibility criteria can be found by visiting the following site: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2015-03-31/
pdf/2015-07358.pdf.The Free and Reduced Meals
Application packet is mailed to all families yearly and as neces-sary. Additionally, application packets are provided to all new students.
Families receiving assistance from Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), homeless, migrant, runaway and enrolled in an eligible Head Start or enrolled in an eligible pre-kindergarten class will be notified of free eligibility. If a family member is receiving these benefits and not notified, they should contact the Food Services Department at Minuteman High School to have free meal benefits extended to them. If the household chooses to decline the free meal ben-efits, they must contact the Food Services Department.
Minuteman is an equal oppor-tunity provider.
Our highly skilled specialists use our unique processes to create what we like to call the perfect all-season indoor climate no matter how cold, hot or humid it is outside.

Play it safe this Halloween with these simple trick-or-treating tips.
• Never trick-or-treat alone, and always stay in familiar neighborhoods.
• Carry a flashlight, and wear a watch you can read in the dark to obey your curfew.
• Make sure your shoes fit properly, and that your costume doesn’t drag on the ground.
• Make sure swords and other props are flexible, and avoid wearing a mask while walking.
• Wear bright or reflective clothing, adding reflective tape if necessary.
• Approach only houses that are lit, and don’t cut across yards or driveways.
• Stay away from pets. Even pets you know may not recognize you in costume.
Gaps in your coverage? Now that’s scary!

a.m. until the end of the service. Many stories from our scrip-
tures take place at a well. In addition to providing life-giving refreshment, communal wells are often the location of God-centered conversations that lead to deeper human relationships.
We gather on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. seeking the same. Our time together is meant to build relationships and be refreshing. A variety of ideas are discussed including cur-rent events, theological ideas, and how we feel called to be “church.” We seek God through liturgy, communion, and other spiritual practices. Sometimes dialogue is inspired by sacred and secular music or video. We conclude with communion.
Everyone is invited to partici-pate as much or as little as com-fortable. Join us on Wednesdays at 7pm in the parlor of MCC located at the corner of Concord Rd and Church St in Sudbury. There is a seat at the table for you. For more information, please contact the church office at 978-443-3885 or [email protected]
MCC is located at 26 Concord Rd (across from Goodnow Library in Sudbury) and is open to and accepting of all persons regardless of race, ethnicity, gender expression and identity, sexual orientation, age, ability, marital status or financial situa-tion. All areas of the building are
universally accessible including the Church School wing, which is accessible by portable ramps present in the building. An accessible, gender-neutral, fam-ily restroom with changing table is available. For more informa-tion, please go to MCCsudbury.org or call 978-443-3885.

Bring A Touch Of China To Your Kitchen (NAPSA)-Chinese food is perennially popular among Americans. Whether it’s a casual dinner or a large celebration, the Chinese restaurant is likely to be a dining destination. Every region of the United States has Chinese restaurants, and some well-known dishes were in fact invented in this coun-try, such as chop suey and fortune cookies. Most traditional dishes are cooked very quickly in a small amount of oil and seasoned with soy sauce and ginger. The ease of preparation and the availabil-ity of ingredients is why more Americans are bringing Chinese cuisine into their own kitchens. An even easier way to pre-pare Asian food in your home is to use a ready-made dressing, such as Litehouse Sesame Ginger Dressing & Sauce. It combines fresh ginger, onion and garlic with rice vinegar, sesame and canola oil. Great for marinating chicken or tofu as well as on salads, it’s full of authentic flavor without MSG, trans fats or preser-vatives. Not only that, it’s low in calories and sodium. Sesame Ginger Lettuce Wraps 11⁄2 pounds chicken (boneless, skinless, cut into cubes) 1⁄3 cup cashews (or peanuts) 1⁄4 cup grated carrot 3⁄4 cup mushrooms (diced) 1⁄4 cup bean sprouts (optional) 1 can diced water chestnuts (optional) 1 head of lettuce (washed) 1 jar Litehouse Sesame Ginger Dressing & Sauce Spray skillet with cooking spray. Cook mushrooms and chicken until done. Add the cashews, grated carrot, bean sprouts and water chestnuts. Cook 2 minutes. Add 1 jar Litehouse Sesame Ginger Dressing & Sauce; heat through. Separate let-tuce leaves. Spoon chicken mix-ture into lettuce leaves, depending on size. Fold to eat. Serves 6.For more information and recipes, visit www.litehousefoods.com.

“The Poem That Leads Us Backwards –
And Forwards”Join the congregation at First
Parish of Sudbury Unitarian Universalist Oct. 25 as we wel-come Rabbi Robert Orkand to our pulpit. He notes that the Jewish community recently completed the High Holy Day “season”—a time of reflection and forgive-ness. Rabbi Orkand asks “What is “forgiveness, anyway? --to see where you are, and to feel a sense of discontent about where you are. It means to go back to the place where you once were – not geographically, perhaps, but spiritually. It means to retrace your steps. It means to go back to the inner place that really defines who you are.” Rabbi Orkand recently retired after 40 years in the pulpit rabbinate. During his career he taught a variety of topics related to religion, but his favorite was, and remains, Comparative Religion, believing that only through knowledge will people come to understand and accept both that which unites us and that which divides us.
On October 25th First Parish will Share the Plate with “Dignity
in Asylum” a not-for-profit organization based in Concord, MA dedicated to providing safe transitional housing and support for asylum seekers, those who have been granted asylum, refu-gees and unaccompanied minors at risk of homelessness. Each month the congregation gives half of its collection to a worthy organization recommended by a congregant.
This Sunday at First Parish Sudbury children aged 6-months to 4 are invited to play in our nursery. Children 4-6 are invited to our Spirit Play class, where we are introducing our seven rainbow principles through sto-rytelling, creative play, and arts and crafts. Older children still in grade school are invited to join our Sing to the Power class, where we are exploring how we can create positive change in the world through the power of our roots this week. 7th and 8th graders are invited to join the Breakfast Club, and the high school youth group will meet at noon, after social hour.
First Parish of Sudbury is a Unitarian Universalist congre-gation located at 327 Concord Road. We embrace diversity and welcome the participation of all
Sudoku
Here’s How It Works: Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!
Fun By The NumbersLike puzzles? Then you’ll love sudoku. This mind-bending puzzle will have you hooked from the moment you square off, so sharpen your pencil and put your sudoku savvy to the test!

Sudbury United Methodist Church
Worship and church school is at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday morning at the Sudbury United Methodist Church. Children wor-ship with their families for about fifteen minutes before going to age-level classes, and childcare for infants and toddlers is always available.
On October 25, Pastor Joel Guillemette will preach a sermon on Mark 10: 41-52 titled “Asking the Impossible.” A Covenant of Baptism will be part of the ser-vice.
The “Pave the Way” steward-ship emphasis will begin and continue for the next month. In
addition to annual giving, the church community has a desire to renovate and improve the church facility to prepare for the next generation of ministry to all ages in Sudbury and surrounding com-munities. They want the campus to speak a welcoming message as deeply as their words and hearts.
Part of the stewardship empha-sis will be a “Forty Days of Prayer” journey. Daily scripture and thoughts to ponder will be printed in the church newslet-ter each week to help develop a new understanding of Jesus’ teachings.
Other activities happening next week include a Youth Group Halloween Party from 6:30 to
8:00 at the church on Sunday, October 25 and an outing to Fruitlands Museum in Harvard on Monday, October 26 by the Women’s Fellowship. This group will have lunch on the grounds and then a guided tour of the four buildings. An RSVP is needed. Call the church office for more information.
On Halloween afternoon, October 31, from 2 to 4 p.m., the church is sponsoring a Trunk-or-Treat event. Children from Sudbury and surrounding towns are invited to dress in costume and come to the church park-ing lot to collect treats provided by church members from their decorated car trunks. There will be games and a craft as well. You and your children are invited to join in the fun!
Sunny Hill preschool, which is located at the church, is now giving personalized tours of the school. The mission of Sunny Hill preschool is “to offer quality education for young children in Sudbury and surrounding com-munities.” To request a tour call 978-443-2627.
