Additional safety instructions• Check that the maximum speed indicated on the grinding disc corresponds

to the maximum speed of the machine. The speed of the machine must notexceed the value on the grinding disc.

• Make sure that the dimensions of the grinding disc correspond to thespecifications of the machine.

• Make sure that the grinding disc has been mounted and fastened properly.Do not use reducing rings or adapters to make the grinding disc fitproperly.

• Treat and store grinding discs in conformance with the supplier’sinstructions.

• Do not use the machine for grinding workpieces with a maximum thicknessexceeding the maximum grinding depth of the grinding disc.

• Do not use grinding discs for deburring.• When grinding discs have to be mounted on the thread of the spindle,

make sure that the spindle has sufficient thread. Make sure that the spindleis sufficiently protected and does not touch the grinding surface.

• Before use, inspect the grinding disc for any damage. Do not use grindingdiscs which are crack-ed, ripped or otherwise damaged.

• Before use, let the machine run idle for 30 seconds. Immediately switch off

the machine in case of abnormal vibrations or occurrence of another defect.Carefully inspect the machine and grinding disc before switching themachine on again.

• Make sure that sparks do not put people into danger or that they contacthighly flammable substances.

• Make sure that the workpiece is sufficiently supported or clamped. Keepyour hands away from the surface to be cut.

• Always wear safety goggles and hearing protection. If desired or requiredalso use another kind of protection like for example an apron or helmet.

• Ensure that mounted wheels and points are fitted in accordance with themanufacturer’s instructions.

• Ensure that blotters are used when they are provided with the bondedabrasive product and when they are required.

• If a guard is supplied with the tool never use the tool without such a guard.• For tools intended to be fitted with threaded hole wheel, ensure that the

thread in the wheel is long enough to accept the spindle length.• Ensure that ventilation openings are kept clear when working in dusty

conditions. If it should become nessesary to clear dust, first disconnect thetool from the mains supply (use non metallic objects) and avoid damaginginternal parts.

• Use the side handle supplied with the equipment. Any loss of control overthis machine can lead to injuries.

• Though poor conditions of the electrical mains, shortly voltage drops canappear when starting the equipment. This can influence other equipment(eq. blinking of a lamp). If the mains-impedance Zmax <0.348 Ohm, suchdisturbances are not expected. (In case of need, you may contact your localsupply authority for further information.

• Do not use cutting discs for grinding.• If a protective cover or guard is supplied with a power tool, never operate

that tool without it.• Always wear protective gear such as gloves and a dust mask.

Always check that the power supply corresponds to the voltage onthe rating plate.

Your machine is double insulated in accordance with EN 50144;therefore no earthwire is required.

• Turn the hand grip (Fig A, 5, page 4) to the notch on the right side of themachine for left-handed use.

• Turn the hand grip (Fig A, 5, page 4) to the notch on the left side of themachine for right-handed use.

• Turn the hand grip to the notch on the top of the machine to use itvertically.

Assembling and removing the protective cover

Fig. B

Only change the protective cover for a metal version or one made fromsimilar material. The position of the protective cover can be adjustedaccording to the working conditions without using tools. The closed side ofthe protective cover must always face toward the user.

Assembly• If a flange nut (Fig C, 10, page 13) and the lower flange disc (Fig C, 9,

page 13) are fitted, remove them from the spindle (see section on Using aGrinding Disc).

• Remove the 4 screws with circlip (9) and the retaining ring (8).• Fit the protective cover (2) over the spindle (10) and onto the device.

Mounting a grinding disc

Fig. C

Use grinding discs of the correct dimension. Use fibre reinforced grindingdiscs only. The grinding disc must not touch the edge of the guard.

• Press the spindle lock (Fig. A, 4, page 4) and turn the spindle (6) until itengages in the lock. Keep the spindle lock pressed during this procedure.

• Remove the flange nut (10) from the spindle using the spanner (11).• Position the grinding disc (4) on the flange (9).

Lay the bottommost flange with the notch down underneath.

• Place the flange nut on the spindle and tighten it using the spanner.

Assembly

When doing so, ensure that the flange nut is fitted in the correct direction, determined by the thickness of grinding disc (description in the next section).

Ensure that the top flange has been fully turned onto the spindleand that the grinding disc is firmly clamped between the twoflanges so that the disc cannot move.

• Release the spindle lock and check that the spindle is unlocked by rotatingit.

Mounting cutting, grinding discs and roughing discs

Fig.D Fig. E

Fig. D and E show how to mount the flange (11) when using thick (4 – 8 mm)and thin (2,5 – 4 mm) discs. The following grinding discs can be used with this grinder.

• For deburring: grooved, fibreglass reinforced type 27. Dimensions Ø 125 x6.0 x 22.2 mm.

• For slitting/ cutting: grooved, fibreglass reinforced, type 41 and type 42.Dimensions Ø 125 x 3.0 x 22.2 mm.

If you use normal grinding discs they should always be fibreglassreinforced.

Operation

Always follow the safety instructions and keep to the applicableregulations.

Hold the machine away from the workpiece when turning it on and offbecause the grinding disc could damage the workpiece.

• Clamp the workpiece firmly or use another method to ensure that itcannot move while working.

• Check the discs regularly. Worn grinding discs have a negative effect onthe machine’s efficiency. Change to a new grinding disc in good time.

• Always first turn the machine off after use before removing the plug fromthe socket.

Deburring

Fig. F

An angle of inclination of 30º to 40º will give the best results whendeburring. Move the machine back and forth using light pressure. This willprevent the workpiece from discolouring or becoming too hot and will avoidmaking groves.

30 - 40o

Operation

Never use abrasive cutting discs for deburring work!

Cutting

Fig. G

Maintain firm contact with the workpiece to prevent vibration and do not tiltor apply pressure and when cutting. Use moderate pressure when working, appropriate to the material that is being worked on. Do not slow downgrinding discs by applying sideways counter pressure. The direction in whichyou want to cut is important. The machine must always work against thedirection of the cut; so never move the machine in the other direction! Thereis the risk that the machine will catch in the cut causing kickback and thatyou will lose control.

The ON/OFF/ switchFig. ATurn the machine on using the ON/OFF (Fig A, 1, page 4). The machine willturn off if you release the switch.

Locking the switchThe ON/OFF/ switch (Fig A, 1, page 4) can be locked by pressing in theON/OFF/ switch and then locking it with the locking button (Fig A, 6, page 4).
