I have received many compliments on our plan from the Central Office staff. Each time, I reminded them that my part was mainly to “cut and paste” since the Leadership Team wrote the plan. Our final school vote was 38 for and 4 against.* Learning Links and Stuff to think about Literacy and Literature in the Internet Age “Literary reflection is perhaps more important in the Internet age than it has ever been.” http://www.ascd.org/ascd-express/vol6/626- newvoices.aspx Keeping Us On The Same Page Report Card Night Update-A flyer will go home on Friday with information about Report Card Night for parents. A separate AlertNow will also be sent. The grade level with the best attendance will receive a treat during the week. Candace, April, or Jordi will talk with each team on Tuesday to answer any questions about Report Card Night. McTeacher Nights-We have two McTeacher Nights coming up. Our Battle of the Books team and Junior Civitans will sponsor the October 20 th event. The band will sponsor the November 14 th event. Scott, Vanessa, and Helene will be on the lookout for colleagues who can help on those nights. Halloween Dance/Haunted House-An email went out earlier this week with information concerning these two events. Please talk with your teams about helping supervise as a team or signing up for individual times. This fundraiser will help support the numerous student clubs and school expenses not covered by state and district funding. Science Fair-The date for the NAMS Science Fair has been set for 12/19. The Science Fair will be in the cafeteria, so we will have bag lunches and eat in classrooms on that day. Basic Best Practices -A good practice when meeting with parents is to state the purpose of the meeting to help keep the meeting focused on the objective. -Please remember to find ways to let students read for fun and enjoyment.
