Every fall, the town celebrates the season with Harvest Festival and chili cook-off in mid-October.
The celebration has something for everyone including a brisk run in the morning, arts and crafts show, music at the fairgrounds, and a farmers’ market for one last time before winter sneaks in.
The stores in historic downtown are open to give visitors an early start on Christmas shopping.

like the polar dip and ice tee golf,” said committee co-chair Linda Boyce.
Chairing the event this year is Rich Paiz. Alison Grashuis is secretary and Courtney Joldersma is treasurer.
The committee hopes to bring back the Battle Creek hot air holiday balloon fest which was a big success two years ago.
They also are working to bring back the contest for a mock election of a Gun Lake mayor.
Festival goers watch as a block of ice is transformed by a chainsaw artist.
With or without snow and ice, as was the case in 2012, the water is cold enough to challenge individuals or groups to jump into Gun Lake in February.
