My name is Robyn Snuffer from the Gilman City FFA Chapter. I am cur-rently a sophomore, serv-ing as chapter Secretary. I enjoy being an officer and participating in the many activities of my chapter. So far, my favorite activity has been going to the Western Farm Show, National Con-vention, and competing in the dairy foods contest last year. This year I will be competing on the agrono-my team where we plan to make it to state.

My SAE consists of raising and selling rabbits. I primarily raise New Zea-lands and Holland Lops with over 40 rabbits all to-gether. I also show them at county fairs to help make money for my project. As well as my ownership

Robyn enjoys raising her rabbits

SAE, I plan to eventually get a job for a placement.

I look forward to our chapter banquet in a few

months where I will have the privilege to become a Chapter Farmer, and hope-fully a few more awards.

Hi, my name is Flint Pinkley. I am a freshman at Gilman City School, and I am a Greenhand in the Gilman FFA Chapter.

My plan for my SAE is to grow blackberries. My favorite activity that I went to with my chapter so far was going paintballing with my chapter in the winter fun trip.

I am on the forestry and Knowledge team. I look forward to attending WLC in a few years, and meet-ing new people.

Good Morning, My name is Emmalie Lawson. I go to Gilman City high school and I’m currently a freshman and a greenhand.

For the contest team I’ve decided to do Dairy foods. While it is fun it does have its ups, but it also has it downs for example tasting the milk and it being un-

pleasant. My favorite trip I’ve

been on so far is the Hund-ley Whaley trip. In my opinion sticking my hand in the cow was the best part of the entire trip. I’m ex-cited about my first year in FFA. I look forward to all the trips soon to come!

Hi, my name is Riley Still and I am a senior, and the Vice President of the Gilman City FFA chapter. As Vice President, I assist the president in meetings, and will take over for them if they cannot preside over the meeting. I have been part of the chapter since my freshman year. My SAE consists of working at Hy-Vee as a cashier and shelf stocker.

This year I will be doing the Ag Mechanics contest. This contest consists of welding, electrical wiring, figuring how much con-crete you would need for a project, and many other things. I like this contest so far because it is very hands

on, and all the subjects that it covers are very interest-ing.

One of my favorite things about FFA has been getting to travel to places like Washington D.C. and Louisville. Another has been the Farm Management contest. I did Farm Man-agement last year and my team and I made it to state. Getting to meet all the new people that you get to meet through FFA has also been a very fun part of it.

My goal for this year in FFA is to help take my Ag Mechanics team to the state level, and hopefully place high enough for us to walk across the stage at State Convention.

Hi, my name is Hope Ellsworth and I am a junior at Cainsville High School. I am in my third year of FFA and have been the Vice President of my chapter for the past two years.

The past few years I have worked hard on my contest teams and intend to do the same this year with entomology.

I am thankful for FFA because it has allowed me to meet so many new peo-ple and learn so much new stuff. I cannot wait to fin-ish out my last two years of FFA strong.

Hi, my name is Kadyn and I am a second-year member in the North Har-rison FFA. This year in 2019 we have learned about all of the types of tree and plant systems. We have also made benches in the Ag shop using all of the tools in the shop.

Last year I was on the poultry team and got cut

then I went to agronomy and got cut then I went to dairy foods and went to districts. This year for the contest I plan on being in the Forestry team and making it to state. We also went to Hundley Waley in Albany, we learned many things and also got to see large combines.

This is Brandon Ham-ilton from North Harrison FFA and I’m a freshman.

We have been studying the digestive system and reproductive system of cat-tle and hogs.

For contest im going to be on the poultry team. For my SAE Im planning on raising a baby calf. FFA has been fun because of all of the stuff we’ve done. We have been to greenhand ini-tiation, work auction, and greenhand motivational conference. I plan to be in FFA for the rest of my high school career.

Hi, my name is Kamden Robertson, I am a first year member in the North Harri-son FFA Chapter. Some ac-tivities have attend are FFA National Convention in In-dianapolis, IN, Greenhand initiation, and Greenhand motivational conference.

In our Ag science 1 class we have been learn-ing about the reproductive systems of animals, and the digestive systems of monogastric and ruminant animals. We have previous-ly learned The FFA creed, and how to fill out our re-cord books.

This year I am prepar-ing to compete on the Dairy Cattle team. For my SAE this year I have two bred heifers, and I plan to expand my herd the next couple years.

My name is Kami Gib-son. I’m a second year FFA student from the North Harrison FFA chapter. I’m in Ag Science 2, so far we have covered plant science, record books, built wood folding chair, and starting on our CDE.

Last year my CDE was

Poultry; In my very first contest I placed high in-dividual overall and my team placed 1st. We made it passed districts and on to state. My SAE is small animal production, and poultry. I raise laying hens and sell the eggs. As well as reproducing rabbits and

selling the offspring. The activities I’ve at-

tended are the FFA BBQ/ Work Auction, and Hund-ley Whaley field day, and going to Sadowskys farm.

I’m really excited for contest season. I plan to be on the horses team. I would like to see our group suc-

ceed greatly. We are now preparing for our first con-test on March 1st.

FFA week is coming up, so we will have a few activities throughout the week. I have a long term goal of earning my state degree, by the time I gradu-ate High School.

Hello my name is Lane Huitt and I am a senior chapter degree member of the North Harrison FFA chapter. I am currently enrolled in Forest manage-ment where I have learned about identifying different types of trees. We have also updated are record book. I have learned many things about different types of trees that I did not know before being in Ag.

I have been involved in many of the FFA activities that are chapter has done. Are chapter has done many activities such as barn warming, fund raising sale, and are work auction. I en-joy all things within agri-

culture but I would say my favorite thing would be all the activities in involved with FFA.

We have developed things that we are currently doing for are SAE. I’ve learned that almost every job that you have or any work that you do can be part of your SAE. My SAE involves beef ownership as well as turf and grass man-agement. I’ve already got a few cows of my own and I hope to keep growing in numbers. I hope that I have a good SAE and can get many awards involved with it I also hope that I can gain money along with it.

My name is Rainey Fordyce, and I am a second year member of the North Harrison FFA Chapter.

My SAE is Equine ownership. This year, in AG Science II, we learned about plant science and did some woodworking in the shop. I was on the live-stock team last year and we had a pretty good run. We placed third in districts and then went on to place tenth at state. We were a fairly young team, having three freshman and one junior, so I think we did pretty

well. Last year was full of activities.

I attended Hundley Whaley Field Day, the 91st National FFA Convention, FFA leadership camp, and State Convention. Right now, we are preparing for our CDE’s. I plan on being on the Dairy judging team this season and with most of the people that were on the livestock team with me last season.

I am looking forward to this contest season and can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings.

Jacob Shuck is a junior at South Harrison and is currently serving as the Chapter Sentinel. He enjoys trapshooting and is looking forward to attending the state competition in Linn Creek, Missouri. His SAE consists of raising market hogs, meat goats, and beef cattle. He currently has 4 head of Charolais cows and

is hoping to double in size before he graduate. He has set a goal to include row crop production in his SAE.

This summer he will be helping his parents run their lawn care business and use that money to grow his SAE. His main goal in FFA is to get his American Degree.

Colton Hulet’s SAE is poultry production and his favorite activity is CDE team activities. For poul-try production he incubates and sells baby chicks. His favorite FFA activity in class is incubating eggs and hatching chicks.

He has expanded his SAE by buying geese and will raise them in the sum-mer to sell.

He is the 2018-2019 South Harrison FFA Chap-ter parliamentarian and is the first one at the chapter for many years. He has also thought about getting quail or pheasants to expand his SAE. He also wants to get a basset hound puppy to raise and train to protect his chickens. He partici-pates in most FFA activi-ties such as trapshooting.

Isaiah Floress is from South Harrison High School in Bethany MO. His SAE is mowing yards and snow removal. During summer, he goes from yard to yard to mow for people. During winter, he would go around and help older people out by removing the snow for them. Then he goes around town and help people get unstuck.

This last year, Nick Donner has been raising chickens. The chickens have been his SAE for this school year. The chickens were won from a raffle, that the freshman class held. Recently, his chick-ens have started laying, and have made the amount of eggs he’s had to buy from the store less and less. He has 10 chickens, 8 of which

are hens.One of Nick’s favorite

things about FFA, is all of the friends he’s made. He has been to many places, and met many people. He enjoys the experiences, and enjoys learning new things. Nick believes FFA is one of the best organizations around. Nick is serving as the South Harrison FFA Chapter Reporter.

Brooke Blanton is a se-nior member of the South Harrison FFA Chapter. She has really enjoyed being a part of this organization for the past 4 years. Some of her favorite moments in FFA include attending both State and National Convention at some point

throughout her high school career. Being a part of the Horticulture contest team has also been a highlight of being in FFA.

Her SAE includes breed-ing and selling Labrador Retrievers. Her and her family have been in the business for a few years

and are running it to this day. If you are interested in a chocolate lab contact her or her mother, Missy Blanton! They have a litter of seven chocolate puppies that will be ready in late March!

Kale Mulnix hopes to have a great future in the South Harrison FFA Chap-ter and wants to participate in many events. He hopes to go to National Conven-tion some year. Kale also wants to go to WLC some year because it would be a great time. There are many other events Kale wants to attend as well.

Kale Mulnix wants to win a contest with a team. He hopes his SAE will work out and be good. Kale would really like to partici-pate in as many FFA events as he can because he enjoys FFA. Kale thinks FFA is a good thing because you get to do fun events and meet new people.

Trey’s favorite FFA ac-tivity is trapshooting. He has been a member of the South Harrison FFA for two years now.

He recently started trap-shooting and likes it a lot. He has shot in every shoot this year and is looking for-ward to next year also. He likes trapshooting because it is a challenge.

He also really likes the friendly competition be-tween the members of his chapter.

considers his work on his uncle’s farm a part of his SAE. During the summer he helps with hay season and plans to begin working on fence.

He loves to work with bigger animals and to work

with them. He takes pride in his work and loves to learn all the functions that are required to make a farm work. Since he has began working for a cattle pro-ducer he has learned sev-eral little tricks to every

little aspect that goes into the work on the farm.

He plans to continue to work as a farm hand until he graduates high school and then from there plans to own several cattle him-self.

My name is Kaycee Vandiver, and I am the daughter of Jerad and Vicki Vandiver. I am currently a senior at the South Harri-son High School, serving as this years’ chapter Vice President. My SAE’s include Goat Production, Swine Produc-tion, Beef Production, Turf Grass Management, and Landscape Management. All throughout the year, I spend most of my time dealing with my Su-pervised Agriculture Ex-periences (SAE’s). In the winter, I spend countless hours shoveling sidewalks, and pushing drives for First Call Snow Removal, while being right in the prime of calving season. In the spring, is when I

am prepping and getting all my livestock ready for the upcoming show year, and as summer and fall are the busiest seasons of the year, most of my time is spent with my pigs and goats, travelling to shows all across the state, and mowing lawns for Osmon Mowing. On top of all my SAE’s I am very active within the chapter, attending all the activities and events held throughout the year. I have attended National FFA Convention all 4 years of my high school career, State Convention, CDE Contests, Public Speak-ing Institutes, Kansas City Farm Show, FFA Week Ac-tivities, and many more. As my high school ca-

reer is coming to an end this year, I have accomplished many of my FFA goals that I set my freshman year, including being a chapter officer for 3 years, attend-ing National and State FFA Conventions, and placing top 10 in a CDE contest. Although I have many more goals to fulfill, such as receiving my State and American Degrees, and expanding my SAE’s into something bigger in the fu-ture, I have accomplished a lot in my FFA years. As I graduate, I want to encour-age all the new and upcom-ing members of this organi-zation to reach out and try new things, because more than likely it will be a huge accomplishment in your future!

Kaycee has reached most of her goals

Squeals of enjoyment: Kaycee Vandiver has a little fun time with her pig.

My name is Nicho-las Mickelson and I am a sophomore and reporter in the North Harrison FFA chapter.

My first experience as part of FFA was the Hund-ley-Whaley field day fol-lowed by a BBQ and work auction my chapter hosted in early fall which was soon followed by learning of the Creed and fundrais-ing during my freshman year.

This school year I start-ed earlier because I am an officer and helped with our chapters livestock show. I am greatly enjoying ag sci-ence 2 and FFA, this year I have already been the top seller for fundraising for the second time and went to the National FFA Con-vention last school year because of it which was a great experience that I en-joyed very much, I have never seen so much blue

and yellow before in my life and I still remember the motto of I can, we will that was featured throughout the convention.

Last school year I at-tended the Greenhand Mo-tivational Conference and currently I am preparing for dairy team CDEs (Ca-reer Development Events) and I’m looking forward to my second judging contest season, hopefully, it will be as successful as my first on

the Livestock CDE team ,going to state and earn-ing a group and individ-ual group 1 rating was an amazing experience.

I am also looking for-ward to my first FFA week as an FFA officer which I am very proud to be. Cur-rently, I am starting a cattle SAE, enjoy being a mem-ber of FFA, and wearing the blue jacket with pride.

Nicholas looks forward to FFA week

National Convention: Noth Harrison FFA members (l to r) Brett Emig, Cruz Ury, Adrian Cracraft, Rainey Fordyce, Emma Craig, Cooper Cracraft, Wade Briggs, and Kamden Robertson represented their chapter at the National FFA Convention last fall in Indianapolis, IN.

Hi, my name is Grant Claycomb and I’m a sec-ond-year member of the North Harrison FFA Chap-ter.

Right now for my SAE, I mow yards and do other small jobs like helping my Grandma. I am excited about this contest season, and for my CDE I am working hard to make the Forestry team this spring.

So far in my Ag Sci-ence class, we have learned about plant sciences, we built a wooden folding chair in the Ag shop, and we just finished with our FFA record books.

Also in my second year

of FFA, I have been to the Hundley Whaley Field Day in Albany where you can see different fields of Ag, I have also participate at our FFA BBQ work auction where we auction of kids for 8 hrs work days, and I also sold fruit for fundrais-ing.

Coming up soon is Na-tional FFA week where we will be celebrating be-ing apart of FFA and doing a few activities with our school and the community.

By the time I’m a senior I will wish to have my state degree, and when I gradu-ate I will wish to have met all of the goals that I set.

Grant is excited aboutFFA contests this year

Emily has learned a lot about mechanics: Emily Nible enjoys going to Baker Ag repair shop with her dad to work on her 1966 Chevy truck. She started this project in August of 2018. Since then she has put a front and rear end from a 1978 1/2 ton in. She is learning more about mechanics and how to do the processes of building and refurbishing a truck.

She is also finishing the engine which is a 350 V8. She turns 16 in May and can’t wait to finish “Bessie” and drive her around town and go on adventures to car shows.

Brayden Vandivert re-ally enjoys going to the competitions to compete, but also to meet new peo-ple and spend time with his friends, all while shoot-ing shotguns. Last year he got to compete at the state level, and he hopes to com-pete again this year. The team goes to Linn Creek and stay at the Tan-Tar-A resort overnight. The team also goes out to eat as a group and spends time to-gether enjoying each oth-er’s company.

Brayden is so glad that he participates in FFA be-cause of all of the new people that he has met. Not only does he meet new people, but also the people that he does meet share common interests. Also FFA brings him opportuni-ties in the form of commu-nity service. The chapter cleans the highway along the school grounds every year. He feels with all of

these things combined, FFA teaches him many great life lessons all while having fun.

Fun with trapshooting

Working on farm: Gage Sperry works on two area farms and also raises cattle.

My name is Gage Sper-ry I am the Sentinel of the Gilman City FFA Chapter.

My SAE consist of working for Ward and Sperry farms and I am also starting to raise cows for my SAE as well. I also rent 100 acres of land that I grew 35 acres of soybeans on last year and 65 acres of corn. When I work for Ward and Sperry farms I work ground in the spring, put on liquid nitrogen, and haul chemicals to the sprayer. I also help get equipment ready for work-ing in the field or when something breaks down.

A couple other jobs I have in harvest season is running the auger wagon, running the combine, and ripping ground after the crops are out of the field. I also just do whatever they want me to do in the sum-mer time like hay hauling or mowing hay.

I have been to several chapter activities such as farm safety day, summer fun trip, fruit sales fun trip, also helped at the Gilman City fair. My favorite thing about FFA is that I get to talk about my SAE and see

it grow over the years I’m in school.

My favorite trip I’ve been on so far is the fun trip when we went paintballing and went to Cabelas.

Last year I was on the soils team which we quali-fied for state in. I am also looking forward to the rest of this year and contest season because I am hop-ing to go to state in AG Mechanics.

Gage Sperry developsskills as farm hand

Christopher Guernsey’s SAE is beef production, Chris has one Hereford cow. Chris wants to have at least 3 cows by his se-nior year. His favorite thing about his SAE is to help his grandpa on the farm and help on some just plain Jane stuff outside.

Chris is a Sophomore at South Harrison High. Christopher’s favorite thing to do in the class is just to learn more about Ag Mechanics. Chris likes to work on machinery and fix problems, he is very tal-ented in many things.

Chris attends to labor ac-tion, Banquet, and North-west Missouri State Fair. Chris has really stepped up his game in class and has learned a lot in class.

Hi, my name is Baylee Van Patten, I am a senior at Gilman City high. I have been in FFA all four years of my high school career.

This is my first year be-ing a part of the Gilman City Chapter. My SAE is raising and showing goats.

I plan on participating on the soils contest team this year. My favorite event so far that our chapter has participated in was Hund-ley Whaley we learned a lot of agriculture activities. My favorite was touching the inside of a dairy cow.

Also, I loved showing at the Gilman City Fair,

I got to show multiple of my goats and learned new things about preparing a meat goat to show. I loved being able to help the pee-wees show my goats which I think the Gilman City FFA chapter does well at including youth in agricul-tural opportunities.

Baylee enjoys showingat Gilman City Fair

Hi! My name is Gra-cen Clark and I’m a fresh-man at Gilman City High School.

I am currently a Green-hand in FFA. I plan to compete in meat evalua-

tion, knowledge, and Creed speaking.

For my SAE I work on my family farm. I look forward to spring contest coming up and meeting new friends in FFA.

members and I have taken up the Agronomy Contest. We hope that our studying pays off and that we make it to State.

During these two years in FFA I have began my S.A.E. in vegetable pro-duction. My sister and I

help my grandpa with his garden. We grow onions, bell peppers, green beans, potatoes, melons, and pumpkins. We hope to sell our produce once we get the hang of and learn more about gardening.

FFA’er learns about gardening

Justin Coots plans to a SAE over rabbit breed-ing and selling. He will be starting with only two rabbits, two cages, two feeders, and two waters. He plans to have them out-side in the summer and in a warmer basement to keep waters from freezing in winter.

This project will take a little time for him to get but he plans to have the rabbits

and everything somewhere between March and May. He plans to get pet rab-bits to sell after weaned. He is not sure about what breed to get yet. He plans to spend 30 minutes a day with them to worry about food water and to clean up their droppings.

He chose rabbits be-cause they can be a source of food if need be and be-cause they are soft.

Kooper Jennings is from the South Harrison FFA Chapter. Her SAE consists of her raising and selling cattle for beef production. She also works during the summer and throughout the year to make extra money. She works at Toot-Toots and at her grandparents fruit stand. Kooper enjoys spending time caring for her animals and working.

Without FFA, Kooper would not have the experi-ences and opportunities it has to offer. Her favorite thing that the Chapter does is the labor auction. She loves giving her time and appreciation back to the community, and this is one of the ways that our chap-ter does!

My name is Collin Briggs. I’m from the North Harrison FFA Chapter in Northwest Missouri. I’m a second year FFA degree member. So far for my SAE, I have been metal-working for S.O.E. I plan to work full time this sum-mer for them.

I plan to be part of the

forestry team for my CDE this coming spring. Con-test season coming up very soon, so we have been working on our teams in class. We finished our re-cord books before we got out of school for Christmas break. Last semester we each built a folding chair in the wood shop.

Collin works in metal shop

Thomas Babinski’s SAE area is Diversified Agricul-ture Production. He raises Black Angus cattle, Katah-din sheep, geese, chickens, meat rabbits and ducks.

He also grows many types of vegetables, fruits and specialty crops. They include tomatoes, potatos, squash, lettuce, spinach, kohlrabies, etc. He also raises spices, gourds, con-fectionery sunflowers and many floriculture products. He sells all of his products at his farm-stand at BTC Bank. Despite setbacks he continues on.

My name is Sidney Gibson I am a freshman at Gilman City. For my SAE I work at the Gilman café and I also plan to get a bot-tle calf. This year I am on the dairy foods team.

My favorite place I have

been with my chapter was fall contest where I com-peted on the knowledge team and got to meet new friends. I look forward to continuing my FFA ex-perience and growing my knowledge.

Sidney looks forward to learning more in FFA

My name is Michelle Sutton and I’m from the Gilman City FFA Chapter. This year I am serving on the officer team as the Re-porter and am currently still a Greenhand. As the report-er, my duties are to remind the chapter of events, as-semble the Scrapbook, and let everyone know that the FFA is a National Organi-zation that reaches across the United States.

For my SAE, I raise German Shepherds, sheep, chickens, cattle and a gar-den. I show cattle and this year I plan on add-ing my sheep. I currently have 2 cows, 9 German Shepherds, 3 sheep, and 12 chickens. This summer I plan to sell wool, show

Hello, my name is Ca-mie Vaughn and I am the Treasurer for the Cainsville FFA Chapter. I strive to do my best for our FFA Chap-ter.

My supervised agricul-tural experience program is working at Hy-Vee in Bethany. I also mow lawns

in the summer in the com-munity.

I have been in FFA for three years now, and I love it. FFA is a great experience for kids to talk to different people, which is a great skill in life. I plan to com-pete on the livestock team this year.

My name is Wade briggs and I am a Greenhand in FFA this year. I am enrolled in Ag science 1, and I just learned and studied the digestive system of a cow and a pig.

At the beginning of the year we had to learn the creed, and I got 2nd best on the creed so I got to go to FFA convention in India-napolis Indiana.

Some other FFA trips I have had is going to Green-hand initiation in Gallatin MO.

We also visited NCMC for a Greenhand motiva-tional conference with the State officers.

I may work at rocket stop for my SAE which is one of the firework stores in my town.

James Ballard’s SAE is Cattle Production and re-storing a John Deere Mod-el A. He has been washing his calves, painting, and working on tractors in his free time. James has two show steers this year that will be shown in Sedalia at

the Missouri State Fair. He has also been painting his Model A John Deere and has also recently painted a John Deere 4430. James has earned his way to National Conven-tion in Indianapolis, Indi-ana! He got to go to a Garth

Brooks concert along with The World’s Toughest Ro-deo. James had a good time at national convention vis-iting a Bee Farm and a Fish Hatchery also. James’s goal is to win the steer show at his hometown in Bethany.

Areona Hamilton likes to spend time with her ani-mals. She loves to learn new things about chickens and other types of animals. Areona is always finding ways to learn something

new. She spends her time working to make her SAE better.

Areona enjoyed going to Greenhand Initiation. She hopes to stay involved with FFA and do well in all

events in the future. Also, she is looking forward to contests in the future. Eventually, Areona would like to go National Con-vention.

An amazing dog to own is the Blue Lavender Amer-ican Pocket Bully. These amazing dogs can be used for an SAE. They are a sim-ple SAE, because you’re just working on training them. They don’t cost what some other SAE’s would cost, but to get started would cost $2,000 dollars.

American pocket bully’s are an expensive kind of dog, and the blue lavender American pocket bully, is even more so. Blue laven-der’s are rare, because they have a very low chance of living. Do to the rare blue lavender the American pocket bully could be sold as a newly weaned for be-tween $2,000 and $5,000.

Hi, my name is Katie Cottrell. I’m a freshman at Gilman City High. I’m a Greenhand in the Gilman City FFA Chapter.

My plan for my SAE is to farm land for my dad and own some land of my own.

Some of my favor-ite activities so far have

been Hundley Whaley and Greenhand Motivational Conference. I’m on the knowledge and meats con-test teams.

I look forward to com-peting on contest teams, and meeting new people in the FFA!

Hello, my name is Sam-my Barth and I’m a se-nior at Gilman City High School. I’ve been a mem-ber of the Gilman City FFA chapter since my junior year of high school. This year for my SAE, I work at the Bethany Hy-Vee as a cashier, and courtesy clerk. As a cashier, I’m involved in assisting customers and side bagging their grocer-ies. A courtesy clerk deals

with assisting with grocer-ies to customer’s cars as well as stocking inventory.

This year the contest I am doing is Soils. My fa-vorite part about being a part of FFA has been par-ticipating in barn warming and seeing everyone work together to accomplish the needed goal as a team. Barn warming was very hectic, but it was comical watching everyone dance

with one another. The thing I look forward

to most this year is partici-pating in the soils team and getting state. I also look forward to seeing all the different types of dirt and various places we traveled for contests. The car rides to and from contest are def-initely funny and probably another one of my favorite parts of FFA.

My name is Kylie Pot-torff and I am a third year member in the North Har-rison FFA chapter. I have only been involved in FFA for about about two years now, but I have already had some great experiences.

I have attended Hundley Whaley Day, Chapter BBQ, National Convention, Greenhand Motivational Conference, State Conven-tion, Chapter Banquet, FFA Camp and multiple CDE contests. Last year I partic-ipated on the Horse team. Our Horse team placed 1st at Districts, which earned us a spot at the State FFA contest where we placed

13th. This year in Ag Busi-

ness/Marketing, we have about sales presentations, worked very hard on our SAE record books, and have helped Mr. Craig with whatever random thing we may be doing. Our class has helped deliver fruit baskets to people that have donated and consistently supported our chapter. Since we have come back from Christmas break, we have worked on Proficiency applications. We are currently working on our new contest areas. We are all excited for our first contest in March!

My name is Carly Rine-hart and I am a Sophomore at North Harrison High School. I am a chapter member of the North Harri-son FFA Chapter. This year I am in Ag Science 2. In this class I have learned plant sciences, we done small projects in our ag shop, we filled out our first full year of record books, we have filled out proficiency ap-plications, and now we are working on CDE’s.

This year I have been a

part of many FFA activi-ties like our annual FFA Barbeque and work auc-tion, Hundley Whaley Field Day, our annual FFA Banquet, and competing at districts where my contest team and I placed 2nd. This qualified us for State where we ended up placing 9th. These activities have been very helpful to help me un-derstand what being a part of the FFA is all about.

This contest season I am hoping to be a part of

the Horse team and earn our way to compete at State. For my SAEP, I am using my dog and selling the puppies that she has in the future. The third week of February is FFA Week. This week we will have dress up days and do many things around the commu-nity and school. I am very excited to continue my journey in FFA and am ex-cited for what this year has in store.

My name is Shae Keefer, and this is my first year in Ag. Right now in Ag were are currently working on the digestive system and will moving on to contest things.

Some of the things I have experienced in this short time of being in Ag would

be going to barnwarming and getting elected for a barnwarming candidate with Kamden Robertson.

Some other things I ex-perienced would’ve been going to Hundley Whaley, and going to the green hand association in Trenton and getting to meet new people.

This year I will be start-ing on my SAE project. For my SAE project I will be working as a farm hand and working with beef. I hope to qualify for state in con-test this year or maybe next year, and I hope to become a officer.

Bricen Francis is a ju-nior in high school and has the chapter degree in the South Harrison FFA. He is looking forward to doing many things in FFA like at-tend leadership conferenc-es, State trapshoot in Linn Creek and get a 25/25, and to go to Washington Lead-ership Conference in Wash-ington D.C.

He hopes to get his American degree. Bricen’s SAE is working in his small engines shop and cutting firewood. He also works a farrow to wean hog barn.

Beef production is a fam-ily tradition for the Feni-more family! Cooper looks forward to continuing the family farm and keeping the last name around. Coo-per loves his show cattle and growing his herd each and every year. With that Fenimore´s SAE is going to be beef production.

Cooper has loved each

and every moment of his FFA career so far and can’t wait for many more memories. He has already received his greenhand de-gree and he is wanting to work all the way up to his American Degree. Coo-per would also like to be a chapter officer. Cooper would like to attend nation-al convention.

it’s getting a cab put on it, the loader redone, new tires, body repainted, new turbo, new exhaust, and a new seat. The third trac-tor needs the most it needs the motor fully rebuild, the trans rebuilt, new battery, new exhaust, new seat, re-painted, and new tires. The car will need quite a bit as well it does run and drive, he wants to put a new gas tank in it, run all new fuel lines, fix the floor boards, clean up the interior and it would be ready to go.

Gracie Eckerson loves when we go on trips with her classmates. They have gone on three trips so far and all of them have had a blast. The bus rides are ac-tually quite! She has made new friends from the trips, from other schools.

Tyler Daugherty is the son of Adam and Rachel Daugherty. He is a mem-ber of the South Harrison FFA Chapter and has re-

ceived his chapter degree. His SAE is raising honey-bees and collecting honey. His favorite FFA activity is working on record books.

His future FFA plan is to have more hives and more bees.

My name is Jared Mil-ligan and I’m a 2nd year member of the South Har-rison FFA.

I live on a farm out-side of Ridgeway with my parents and sister. We raise registered Angus and Simmental cattle. I enjoy working with cattle. I have been able to build up my own cow heard by showing

cattle. I now have 8 cows that are mine and have been able to sell some of the calves to other produc-ers for their own herds.

The project that I partici-pate in help me with my life skills as far as, helping with budgets, being able to sell my animal to a prospective buyer and being able to talk to a crowd.

Helping out: North Harrison FFA Officers volunteered with bagging and handing out produce for the Second Harvest food mobile distribution in Eagleville. Shown here is Addie Slaughter and Gavin Garrett.

My Name is Jory Stotts from Gilman City FFA chapter. For my SAE proj-ect I cut firewood and have goats. This year I’ve cut a lot of wood, over 300 dol-lars worth, but bars and chains are expensive to buy. I have sold too many different people and I’ve even cut and delivered two loads to a family I need of wood because the husband has had surgery and hasn’t been able to use a chain-saw. I am looking for an old woodchuck truck to haul wood in because back glass are expensive too.

I have three adult goats and two babies. These goats are not friendly at all, but they are fine after you get them and hold them. There are two females and the rest are males. The girls names are Penelope and Daisy, the boys are Oreo, Sonny, and Jasper. I Also have two other ani-mals, a Miniature Donkey named Buckeye who loves to chase the goats and play

My name is Braylea El-der and I am a part in the Gilman city FFA Chapter. This year I am a sopho-more. In my time in FFA I learned about several dif-ferent things such as lead-ership and hands on work such as welding. For my SAE I have chosen to help my family keep warm. I go out and cut wood with the family anytime they need help. If there are problems with the stove I do my best to help. This is favor-ite thing to do and that is the reason I chose to do this, sure it isn’t fun in the

winter time but that is ok because jobs aren’t always fun.

I hold an office in this chapter as the 2nd reporter. In this office, I’m sup-posed to help take pictures for the scrapbook and help with anything that the main reporter might need help with. It has been great be-ing an officer and being able to involve myself in the chapter as much as pos-sible. I have been to several events in my time so far in FFA but my favorite would have to be National Con-vention.

My name is Jolee Ward and I am a freshman at Gilman City. I am on the Dairy foods team this year and I look forward to com-peting at the many spring contests we are going to.

I also look forward to starting my SAE with my feeder goats soon. My fa-vorite part about FFA is go-ing to new places and meet-ing new people.

Hi, my name is Mardee Sadowsky and I am a se-nior at North Harrison High School. I currently serve as the Chapter President and Area II FFA 2nd Vice Presi-dent. I am enrolled in the Food Science Class.

Last year was a busy year in FFA! During the spring, I was a member of the District Champion Horse Judging team for North Harrison. I also com-peted at state in Advanced Prepared Public Speaking. Last summer, I also had the opportunity to attend the Washington Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. for FFA members. While, in D.C. I was able to meet community minded

students from across the nation and develop leader-ship skills. This opportu-nity would not have been possible without the sup-port of numerous banks and businesses in the Har-rison County Area. I am extremely grateful for your support and contribution.

In FFA, I have a beef entrepreneurship SAE. I raise registered Angus cattle that are fescue toler-ant with excellent growth and performance. If you are looking for an Angus bull this spring, you should give me a call! I enjoy ex-hibiting cattle at the local, state, and national level. This summer my heifer Burgess Beetle was se-

lected as the 5th Overall Bred and Owned Female at the National Junior An-gus Show. I also bred and exhibited the Champion Bred and Owned Shorthorn Female at the North Ameri-can International Livestock Exposition. In the year to come, I look forward to ex-panding my operation with embryo sales out of some of my elite females.

This year I am excited to be a member of the Meats Evaluation CDE Team. North Harrison loves com-petition season and many FFA members are hard at work on their contest teams. It will be exciting to see what this spring brings for my chapter!

My name is Taylor Rich-ards and I am a Sophomore FFA member of the North Harrison Chapter.

My FFA SAE is cutting firewood in the winter and mowing lawns in the sum-mer. I am on the Forestry team for my CDE. So far this year we have been working on our record books and we are starting on our CDE contests. In the Forestry team we have to identify types of trees, read topographic maps, and to

identify tools used in For-estry.

My favorite experience so far this year is when we went to our ag shop and built folding chairs. We also went over the different types of tools and how they are used on certain materi-als.

My favorite memory in the FFA is when my ag teacher got mad at another student for using one of the electrical saws to cut card-board.

Mindy has been in FFA for the past 3 years. Fresh-man year Mindy participat-ed in dairy cattle contest. Mindy also went to the conferences and learned a lot more about FFA. 10th grade Mindy moved from Savannah school district and was late to join in FFA at her new school.

Eleventh grade Mindy became more active, in learning about horses and chickens. Mindy really

loved to learn about all of that she wanted to join the poultry team or the horse team. 11th grade was just a busy year for her, she didn’t have the time to par-ticipate.

Twelfth grade year, se-nior year. Mindy moved to a new school South Harri-son and joined FFA. This year Mindy still wasn’t ac-tive as many others, but she was very supportive of her FFA people. Mindy went

Austin Lasher’s SAE is sheep production. He shows his sheep throughout the summer. Austin likes

going outside and catching bugs during AG class for entomology.

Sarah Miles likes to learn about FFA and more about animals. She loves to get to go on all of the FFA trips and make new friends while she is there. Sarah also enjoys spending time with her animals and work-ing on her SAE project.

Sarah’s favorite trip she

went on was Greenhand Motivation. She got to meet a lot of new people and made new friends. Sarah also enjoyed Green-hand Initiation where she officially became a Green-hand. In the future, she wants to go on more trips and make new memories.

Her name is Sadie But-terfield and she is a part of the South Harrison FFA. Her SAE is beef and sheep production. She also raises and shows rabbits.

She has been and cur-

rently is raising her heif-ers up and using them for breeding stock. For her show stock she is raising her own rabbits and should have them ready for show season. She plans on up-

grading to new breeds in the future as well. She also plans on raising more heif-ers for her SAE. She is striving to upgrade to better stock.

Hannah Miller partici-pated in the South Harri-son FFA Petting Zoo. She brought a puppy named Daisy. Daisy was about 7 months old.

Daisy slept on Hannah for almost the entire time! She let people pet Daisy. Daisy tried to jump on the kids but Hannah didn’t let that happen. Daisy slept the entire ride home and was very playful when we got home.

Jayson Bakers SAE is cutting wood. Jayson is also a part of the South Harrison FFA chapter.

He likes to cut wood because it is hard work and it makes his muscles

with them and we have a Duck who really don’t have a name, we just call him duck and he also likes to

chase the goats around and peck at them and fight the babies.

Set B sigs 2010

So on Thresher Farms they raise black Hereford and Angus. They usually feed wet and dry hay on the farm. In the summer they mow hay and rake and bale wet hay. One of Coltyn’s goals is for his cattle to do good at the sale market. In the winter they feed the cows and usually in Janu-ary they sell their calves.

On the South Harrison FFA Trapshooting team they have three teams A team, B team, and C team.

Hundley Whaley field day: North Harrison FFA chapter once again attended Hundley Whaley Field Day, hosted by the University of Missouri Extension held on their research farm in Albany, MO. Shown here, the students are listening about the Pharm Dog program, where dogs are trained to assist farmers in need.

The Gilman City FFA Chapter has had a fun and exciting year in 2018-2019. The Gilman City FFA chapter was chartered on November 23, 1929 mak-ing this its 90th year. Ma-jor highlights of the 2018 contest season include the Farm Management team winning districts and quali-fying for state along with the Soils and Dairy Foods teams. Two members of the chapter-Skylar Reyn-olds and Hayley Burnett, received their American FFA Degrees and Gage Sperry and Kaleb Bjornlie received their State FFA Degree.

The chapter currently has 25 members. Classes taught include Ag Struc-tures, Ag Science 1, Ag Sci-ence 2, Exploratory, Lead-ership, and SAE Co-Op. Chapter officers include, Garrett Clark – Chapter President, Riley Still, 1st Vice- President, Zoe Wil-liamson 2nd Vice President, Robyn Snuffer, Secretary,

Jacob Burnett, Treasurer, Michelle Sutton, Reporter, Gage Sperry, Sentinel, Bai-ley Williamson, Chaplain along with two Assistant Reporters- Lindsey Snuffer and Braylea Elder.

Adam Clark was award-ed the Honorary Chapter Member Degree at the

2018 chapter banquet. Mi-chael Sutton was named as Chapter Star Farmer, Robyn Snuffer and Zoe Williamson received the Star Greenhand Award, Ja-cob Burnett was given the Agribusiness Chapter Star Award, and Garrett Clark was named the Chapter

Star in Ag Placement. Ja-cob Burnett also was an area winner in the Turf-grass Management Profi-ciency Award area. This year the chapter sold over $20,000 worth of fruit, meat and cookie dough, has had a very successful local fair, participated in

several activities including Fall Contest in Maryville, UMC field day in Albany and went on a paintballing trip in Kansas City. The chapter is currently partici-pating in FFA Week activi-ties and looks forward to an enjoyable and exhilarating 2019 Contest Season.

My name is Garrett Clark, the President of the Gilman City FFA chapter. For my SAE, I do turf grass management where I mow yards in my neighborhood, work on the family farm, where I aid in row crop and hay management for cattle.

This year my contest is Ag Mechanics, where I learn about a variety of practical skills, such as concrete figuring, welding, and many other activities, as well as about the me-chanics of a variety of farm equipment.

My favorite part about FFA so far has been par-ticipating in our state agronomy team. I am in-

terested in plants and crop management and found the differences between related plants and seeds intriguing. My favorite big FFA trip was the Washington Lead-ership Conference in Wash-ington D.C. On the trip, they took everyone there to many of the national monu-ments to sight see, but my favorite part of the trip was when Mr. Chalfant took us to see the Declaration of Independence and Consti-tution.

The thing I look forward to the most is going to state convention again this year. I plan on making it in my Ag Mechanics contest and I am also planning on per-

My name is Jacob Bur-nett; I am a senior, and I am the Treasurer of the Gilman City FFA Chapter. For my SAE, I do turf grass man-agement where I mow 5 yards, and I also have 12 head of cattle where I run a cow calf operation. An-other part of my SAE is in the summer I work for Smithfield where I brush hog lagoon banks and field boarders. The last part of my SAE is that I farm 55 acres of row crop

This year the contest I am doing is Ag Mechan-ics, where I learn about a variety of practical skills, such as concrete figuring, welding, and many other activities, also just general concepts with agricultural equipment.

My Favorite parts about FFA so far has been go-ing to National Conven-tion, and being on our state Farm Management team. National Convention was fun because I got to meet

people and see all the sites to see of National Conven-tion. Farm Management was fun because it’s all about remembering formu-las and putting them to use to solve problems that deal with things ranging from fi-nance to feed rations.

The thing I look forward to the most this year is to get my State Degree. For my SAE I plan on growing my row crop operation.

Good morning good people of Missouri, my name is James Norton and I am currently a part of the Gilman City FFA chapter.

I am now a freshman and Greenhand, my SAE consists of raising dachs-hunds.

I am currently taking part in the dairy foods contest of the FFA, which consists of identifying dairy products. I aspire to meet, help, and lead the good people of the FFA to make the world a truly better place.

My name is Emma Craig and I am a Sophomore in the North Harrison FFA chapter. I am the Parlia-mentary/ Chaplin on my of-ficer team and it is my first year as an officer. In class I am taking Ag Science 2. So far we have been covering plant science curriculum as well as doing our record book, and now we are start-ing on our CDE activities. Some of the events that I have already had the privi-lege to experience are being involved in this school year is our annual FFA BBQ and fundraising sale, going to National Convention, and Hundley Whaley field day at Albany.

This year I hope to be on the Horses contest team. As of now we have been work-ing on looking at classes of horses of different breeds and determining how to judge and/or place them.

We plan to keep work-ing, and to be prepared

when it comes time to go to our first contest at Bruns-wick. I plan to use cattle production and landscape management for my SAEP. I will be able to keep build-ing my herd when calving season comes, and at some point in time I will be able to earn money by selling my steer calves, as well as earning money for mowing Hobbs Cemetery during the summer.

Starting in the third week of February, we will be par-ticipating in our FFA week. During this week we will have dress up days and the elementary will participate in a coloring contest. Some of the Officers will go to the elementary classes to inform them about FFA week and what FFA is all about. Im looking forward to everything that FFA has to offer me, and i’m excited to learn and experience new FFA related things through-out my high school career

Hi, my name is Addison Slaughter. I am a Senior at North Harrison. This is my fourth year of FFA, and I am on our Chapter officer team for the second time as our Sentinel. This year I am in the Food Science where we learned the pres-ervation of food and the many different ways you can do it, while also getting individual projects to pres-ent how different foods can be preserved.

Last year, I was on the Meats contest team. We finished third at districts at Districts and qualified for State. This year, I plan

on being on the Agronomy contest team, and the goal is to try and qualify for state again. For my SAE, I am in the placement cat-egory working at the local Hy-Vee in Bethany.

I have been pretty suc-cessful with my FFA ca-reer and I encourage young students thinking about going into FFA to do it. It is a great organization and teaches you very many skills, such as leadership, teamwork, and responsibil-ity. It gets students involved and makes high school a lot of fun.

Hi, my name is Olivia Babinski. I am a Chap-ter Degree Member in the North Harrison FFA. I am in the Food Science and Technology class. We have learned about differ-ent types of processing for foods, why they started processing foods, and we have worked on our record books.

While being in FFA I have been involved with our Annual FFA BBQ and Work Auction, fundrais-

ing, National FFA Conven-tion, and barn warming. National FFA Convention was a great experience. Barn warming was really fun too.

Last year I was on our Meats contest team and was our chapter’s high in-dividual. I plan to be on our agronomy team this year and hope to be the high individual for this year as well. I am also our chapters 1st Vice President.

Hi, my name is Mason Cracraft, I am a Chap-ter Degree Member from North Harrison FFA. This is my fourth year in FFA.

I attended the FFA bar-beque and work auction and barnwarming. I was on the entomology team, and we got 18 at districts and did not make it to State. I will

be on the Floriculture team this year, and we will try and go to state again. My SAE for now will be my job. I work for H&R Block in Lamoni, Iowa. My boss is Peggy Cracraft there so she gave me my first job. I answer the phone and make appointments for people who need to see Peggy.

My goals for the rest of my FFA career might be, to get all my degrees. Go to state again with a contest team. I would like to attend state with the Floriculture team. I hope that we can make it far. I also hope I can get my goals achieved as an FFA member.

This is Casey Starmer. He is a Senior at South Harrison High School. He enjoys trapshooting and is looking forward to going to state trapshooting. His goals there are to shoot 90/100. His SAE is poultry and beef production.

He currently has 4 head of cows and is looking to grow his heard. For his poultry he has around 50 laying hens which he uses to sell eggs to help grow his SAE. His main goal is to get his American Degree.

Cole Taylor’s SAE is trapping. Cole enjoys trap-ping in his free time. He spends most of his free time during the winter months outside hunting and trap-ping. He traps the whole season for a wide variety of animals.

Cole especially targets bobcats and otters, this year he met his goal of catch-ing two of each and ended up with three bobcats and three otters.

Cole also has another

SAE that involves the win-ter time, he pushes snow and cleans out drive ways for people that need it. This year Cole did that as well as trap and he likes doing both. He pushes his snow on a small snow pusher and drives from each spot to do so.

Cole also mows grass in the summer time and dose seasonal jobs. He keeps track of his expenses and records them in his FFA re-cord book as well.

Courtney Starmer loves to spend time with her ani-mals. She likes to learn new things about cattle and oth-er types of animals. Court-ney is always finding ways to learn something new. She spends her time work-ing to make her SAE better.

Courtney enjoyed go-ing to National Convention and other FFA activities. She likes to trapshoot and stays involved with FFA. She is looking forward to future contest and hopes to do well. Courtney hopes to attend National Convention again, FFA camp, and other activities.

Caleb Hulet’s SAE in the South Harrison FFA is restoring a Farmall H trac-tor that he has previously been restoring. The tractor is still used around his farm and does all the small jobs around the farm. The trac-tor has had two rear tires and many small parts put on it. The tractor still needs major things like a clutch and an engine rebuild. The tractor he is restoring will be to preserve our farming history and to remind us how much our farm ma-chinery has advanced since

it was created. Caleb is also involved

in the FFA trapshooting team and that is his fa-vorite activity in FFA. He likes to shoot in FFA and to learn gun safety and good shooting practices. He likes trapshooting because it can help him learn new hunt-ing practices and be more prepared in the future. FFA offers many more activities and opportunities to learn about agriculture in the fu-ture and trapshooting is just one of his favorite things to do in FFA.

Her name is Aubrey Slaughter. She is the daughter of Jill and Jason Slaughter. She is a sopho-more at South Harrison. Her favorite part of FFA is all of the trips and making new friends.

Her SAE is Small Ani-mal Production and Care. She has two dogs named Laynie and Gracie and she also has a lot of chickens. She really loves her dogs and chickens. That is also another favorite part of FFA.

Gilman City chapter celebrates 90 years Emma looks forward to learning more about FFA

Coltyn Constant’s SAE

The North Harrison FFA Chapter is a proud member of the Area II and Missouri FFA Association. The three mains parts of a successful Agriculture Education program include Classroom and Laboratory, SAEP (Supervised Agricul-ture Experience Program), and FFA. Giving students the opportunity to experi-ence these three important things is vital in the suc-cess of a program. Mak-ing a positive influence in the lives of young people, allowing them to find the things that interest them most and the opportunity to achieve success in those areas are a continuous goal of the North Harrison FFA.

This year we have 36 active members (9-12) in our chapter, with around 29 (post-secondary) mem-bers that have graduated. The 2018-2019 North Har-rison FFA Officer team in-cludes President: Mardee Sadowsky, Vice Presi-dents: Olivia Babinski and Brett Emig, Secretary: Lola Breshears, Treasurer: Gavin Garrett, Sentinel: Addie Slaughter, Report-ers: Nick Mickelson and Rainey Fordyce, and Par-liamentarian/Chaplain: Emma Craig.

Throughout the year, the North Harrison FFA Chap-ter and its members have many activities in which they are involved. These activities start in the sum-mer with our annual Live-stock Show. This show got its start in the early 90’s in a barn owned by Doyle Tull just off of highway 46 near Hatfield, Mo. It was held there until the construction of the current youth build-ing was completed, after which the location of the show moved to town. This show has always been a very popular event, being one of the earliest shows in the area; it draws a large number of quality live-stock and exhibitors from all over the area. Exhibi-tors show heifers and steers on the beef side, and mar-ket lambs and ewes in the sheep area. We have re-cently added goats, as well as a pig show as well. The show is scheduled for early June each year. The City of Eagleville is a big support-er of our livestock show, providing premium and champion money for the exhibitors. Osage Grass

and Livestock of Eagleville are longtime sponsors of our showmanship banners, as well as Fred Bennett, Gibson Livestock, GRM and First Missouri Bank helped out by sponsoring our show shirts. We thank all of our sponsors for all of their continued support.

Some other summer ac-tivities North Harrison FFA members are involved in include the Washington Leadership Conference, attended by Mardee Sad-owsky. State FFA Lead-ership Camp, attended by Lola Breshears, Emma Craig, Brett Emig, Rainey Fordyce, Olivia Babinski, and Addie Slaughter, was held at the Lake of the Ozarks. There were nu-merous local and county fairs where members ex-hibit their livestock. Many members conclude a busy show season by showing their projects at the Mis-souri State Fair in Sedalia, the Northwest Missouri State Fair in Bethany, and some, even show at the American Royal in Kansas City. Other members show their livestock at various National, or Jr. National shows across the country. The end of show season signals the start of another school year.

The North Harrison FFA Chapter is involved in many activities throughout the year. The main activ-ity that allows us to do this is one that has been a long tradition at North Harrison, the annual FFA BBQ and Work Auction. This is one of our two main fundraisers of the year. This event is always well attended, with the evening beginning with a meal of BBQ pork, scal-loped potatoes, slaw, and dessert, and ending with a work auction in which each FFA member is auctioned off for an 8 hour work day. Our other fundraiser takes place in the fall as well, our annual fundraising sale. FFA members sell a vari-ety of cookie dough, meats, cheeses, and candy. The money raised through these two fundraisers allows our chapter the opportunity to attend the many FFA activ-ities, conferences, conven-tions, contests, and work-shops throughout the year.

In the fall of the year, the first big activity that we attend is the National FFA Convention held this

year in Indianapolis, Indi-ana. This is where those members lucky enough to be chosen, earn the gold-en charm of the Ameri-can FFA Degree. This past year, Clay Parkhurst, Carli Brenizer, and Kiley Gibson each earned their degrees. Each year our chapter attends the con-vention on a chartered bus with some other local chap-ters. Combining resources with other schools helps to keep the costs down as much as we can to afford more students the oppor-tunity to experience this great event. There are dif-ferent ways members can earn their way to National Convention. Our chapter awards the opportunity to go to convention to the top FFA Creed Speaker, the top ticket sellers for our BBQ, and the top fundraising sellers. Also, FFA officers that have yet to attend Con-vention are afforded the op-portunity to attend as well. While in Indianapolis, our members were able to take part in the one of the open-ing sessions of the National FFA Convention as well as attend the FFA Career Show and Shopping Mall. The kids were fortunate to be able to see Garth Brooks in concert this year. There were also numerous lead-ership sessions, contests, and other FFA activities to keep us busy while we are at convention. The down-town experience in India-napolis is always a fun ex-perience in itself. We also attend a couple of tours while on the trip. Some of them have included the St. Louis Arch, and Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis, MO., Apache Sprayer Company, Indianapolis Motor Speed-way, NCAA Hall Of Fame, and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum , just to name a few. From the bus ride, to the tours, to being able to meet new people, the en-tire trip is always a fun and memorable experience for all involved.

Our Greenhands are ini-tiated in the fall of the year at the annual Area Green-hand Initiation where they are awarded their Green-hand pins. This event is held each year at Gallatin. This is usually the first or-ganized FFA activity and the first opportunity for the Greenhand to try on those

new “blue jackets”. Other fall activities include the Hundley-Whaley Field Day held at the UMC Re-search Farm in Albany, and our annual FFA Barnwarm-ing. The past few years, our barnwarming has in-cluded a hayride, wiener roast, and dance, this year we ended up having it in the Youth Center in Eag-leville. We always have some fun activities, includ-ing an apple cider chugging contest and tug of war. The evening concludes with the crowning of our barn-warming king and queen, which this year was seniors Logan Craig and Mardee Sadowsky.

As the school year rolls along and winter comes around, a few more FFA ac-tivities come to mind. The Greenhand Motivational Conference takes place in Trenton. This is a leader-ship conference put on by the Missouri State Officer Team for area Greenhands. It is a fun as well as learn-ing experience. As the end of the year approaches this brings on closing out our SAE record books for the year and filling out appli-cations for the State FFA Degree and Area and State Proficiency awards. Each year, the Missouri FFA As-sociation awards the State FFA Degree to approxi-mately 3% of its member-ship. Each chapter is al-lowed the opportunity to apply 7% of their member-ship for this degree each year. Proficiency Awards are an opportunity for members to gain recogni-tion on the local, area, and

Field trip to Iowa: The North Harrison FFA Chapter celebrated their year by taking their chapter trip to the John Deere manufacturing plant in Ankeny, IA. We ended our trip with a meal at the Iowa Machine Shed Restaurant.

state levels in their respec-tive SAE areas. Students lucky enough to be winners on the Area level will be recognized for their accom-plishments on stage at the State FFA Convention.

National FFA Week is the next big activity on our schedule. Each year we celebrate this week with numerous activities. Some of our days include, Blue and Gold/Muddy Vehicle Day, Boots and Bibs Day, Official Dress/Elementary Ag Awareness Day. On this day our officer team puts on an informative agricultural program for our elementary classes, about where our food comes from. Aggie Hat and Greenhand Day, where students can wear their favorite aggie hat, and the Greenhands get their hands painted green for the day. Finally, FFA T-Shirt /Tractor Day, and Com-munity/Staff Appreciation Day. We take doughnuts around to local businesses and purchase coffee for lo-cal patrons at the Hungry Bird Café and Dinner Bell. Sunday the chapter attend-ed church services at one of the local churches.

After State Degree’s, Proficiency’s, and National FFA Week is over, and with spring fastly approaching, we know it’s almost contest season. Spring FFA and VO-AG Career Develop-ment Events and contests are a very important part of the North Harrison FFA and AG Program. This is the

time of year when members get to choose which contest team they plan to be on, and begin preparing and practicing with hopes of qualifying to State. Some of the contest areas include FFA Creed Speaking, FFA Knowledge and Public Speaking, Forestry, Meats, Livestock Judging, Dairy Cattle, Horses, Agronomy, Floriculture, Entomology, and Poultry, just to name a few. These contest areas afford the members the op-portunity to learn many valuable new things and to take this new knowledge and put it to use in a con-test format. Many practice contests and workshops help prepare the students for district contest, when they will find out if all of their hard work has af-forded them right to move on and compete at state. State FFA Convention is the goal of all of those in-volved in contest. The trip to Columbia is a much an-ticipated event. Some of our members will receive the State FFA Degree, last years recipient were Payton Craig and Bobby Hutton. Some will be recognized for proficiency awards, del-egate will be able to take part in the business meet-ings of our Missouri State FFA Organization, and our qualifying contests teams get to compete on the state level. This trip culminates a busy spring and signifies a reward for all of the hard work and dedication put in

by everyone in attendance. By the time State Con-

vention ends, we know an-other year is coming to an end. We end our year with the Area II FFA Awards night and our Chapter FFA Banquet. These two events are where our members are recognized for their achievements throughout the year. Also recognized at our local banquet are lo-cal businesses as well as individual supporters of our chapter throughout the year. These activities con-clude an always busy year for the North Harrison FFA. This time of year brings to an end many things, but it always leaves us looking to the future for more fun and exciting things to come. We would like to take this time to thank all of the in-dividuals and businesses in our local communities that not only support the North Harrison FFA Chapter, but others as well. We would like to at this time, thank ALL of our FFA support-ers, businesses, parents, administration, and faculty and staff for everything you do! With your help we are able to do what we do, and represent our school and community. The North Harrison FFA would also like to send a big thank you to the Republican Clipper for this Special FFA Week Edition!

Anderson Rogers is the son of Mike and Shelly Rogers and is a junior member of the South Har-rison FFA Chapter. He is currently serving as the chapter secretary.

He is active in LDE con-tests including job inter-view and public speaking. This year he is studying tree identification in hopes of qualifying for state on the chapter’s forestry CDE

team. He is hopes to have the opportunity to attend the HYPE Academy this year, where FFA members learn about current oppor-tunities and challenges in Missouri agriculture.

His SAE projects in-clude swine, row crop, cattle, and his very own tree service. He uses this tree service, Anderson’s Wood Products, to remove, transplant, or sell trees for

customers. He enjoys op-erating this business and has been able to help many people improve their land-scape and property value.

Looking forward, An-derson has a goal to become an Area II FFA officer as well as chapter president. This past year in FFA has been a good one, and he hopes to have an even bet-ter one next year.

FFA camp: North Harrison FFA members (back to front) Brett Emig, Addie Slaughter, Olivia Babinski, Lola Bres-hears, Rainey Fordyce, and Emma Craig all attended FFA Camp this past summer, they are shown here just prior to attending the Main Street Opry music show in Osage Beach.

My name is Gavin Gar-ret and I am a senior at North Harrison. I have been in FFA for four years and been on four differ-ent teams. Last year I was on our meats team and we got third at districts and went to state convention. I am on our agronomy team this year and hope to get a group one rating at state. I am submitting my SAE to be reviewed for my state degree.

All my four years in FFA have taught me many valu-able skills in leadership and responsibility. I have gotten much better at talking with people I haven’t met and am able to speak in front of crowds, which is some-thing I have always strug-gled with. In the future I plan to apply for my Amer-ican degree, and if I get my state degree I will have met all the requirements for the American degree.
