Dear Parishioners,

Don’t forget the donuts!!!

If you’re reading this online before the weekend, put it in your calendar. If you’re reading this Saturday night, make it a point to stop back Sunday morning. Trust me, we WILL be done before kickoff (we’ve got some catching—get it?—up to do). I know we have schedules and stuff but it is nice to sit around with people and be social after the prayer of Mass. And with times as they are, we need to be with each other even more.

Something caught my eye in the paper earlier this week. Apparently, a bunch of food cupboards are literally going to get extra truckloads of food over the next year. Part of the trade war and tariffs. Interesting times. What struck me as I read the article was the fact that most food banks get over 60% of their donations between Halloween and the end of the Christmas season each year. Makes me even prouder of what you do here. Almost every week the crew that maintains our Pantry is moving the stuff you put in the bins to the shelves in the meeting room in the back of the Church. And they’re open once a month like clockwork for those in need and we have a number of locals who appreciate what they do. And when we looked a little thin this summer, one of our Confirmation candidates noticed it when he and his family were in the meeting room for the last round of Photo Directory pictures. So he did his service project and organized a local food drive to help keep our shelves full. You wonder why I brag about you to my brother priests? Don’t.

Some of you asked if my presentation on the history of liturgy got taped so they could watch what they missed. (I wasn’t that great but we did have fun. Someone’s talking about a Part II. Working on something.) I did do a PowerPoint presentation and we’ll put a version of it on the website with the article I used as the basis for most of my presentation. And don’t forget about the next event—the family friendly Hayride at AGA Farms next Sunday. No Eagle’s to distract us (they play Thursday) and hopefully the weather will be on our side. Should be a fun time to get together and enjoy the Fall and each other’s company. See you there.

And don’t forget the DONUTS! See you after the Sunday Masses. God bless.

Fr. Schiele

The funds raised by the annual celebration of St. Patrick’s Mission in Dublin enabled Father Morley to renovate all the Parish buildings and, as we began to outgrow the school, to purchase additional acreage in Hilltown contiguous to that purchased by Father Muldoon, taking us from Broad Street to Hilltown Pike. In March of 1957, construction began on a new school. The first building on the new land.

This year our Café has a wish list of its own! Gift Cards to Landis, Giant, Walmart, Target, BJ’s, Costco, etc. will be used to purchase specific things that the café needs. Monetary Donations if you wish to make a monetary donation, please make checks payable to OLSH Christmas Bazaar and write “Café” on the Memo line. This money will be used to purchase items through food distributors. Any donation, large or small, is always greatly appreciated. Please put gift cards and/or checks in an envelope marked “Christmas Café” and place in the collection basket, drop off at the Rectory, or mail to PO Box 31, Hilltown. Thank you for taking the time to help make our Bazaar a success. 100% of proceeds directly benefit our parish.

Beginning next weekend we will be handing out the Christmas Bazaar Parish Raffle tickets in the back of the Church before and after all Masses. We have an envelope for every registered family of the parish. If you have a child in the CCD program, please look for your families tickets to be sent home with the youngest student. Please help us save on postage by picking up your tickets. If you are not registered and are interested in participating or if you would like extra tickets, they will be available at the table as well.

Unused or partially used gift cards/certificates needed! Do you have gift cards sitting unused? Do you have gift cards partially used with remaining balances? The Christmas Bazaar has been successful in the past with your very generous donations. It’s that time of the year again, as we solicit support for donations for this year’s Bazaar. We are currently looking for donations of gift cards that can be incorporated into our various gift basket raffles. Cards with partial balances will be used to supplement basket accessories. Thank you, in advance, for your support. Contact Kim Roberts via phone at (215) 249-3261, or via email at [email protected] or you can put them in the collections basket in an envelope labeled: Attn: Kim Roberts, Christmas Bazaar Donations Committee.
