10 Years of Empowering Young Women2016-2017 Annual Report

nn Richards School FoundationIN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE ANN RICHARDS SCHOOLFOR YOUNG WOMEN LEADERS

This year, I had the privilege of getting to know Litzy S., Class of 2019. Litzy is featured on the cover of this Annual Report, and she shared this with me:

“I was once the new kid, and one day I’m going to graduate from this school. It inspires me to give 100% so that when I walk across the stage I’m going to think ‘Wow, I did all of that, and it was all worth it.’”

From 6th to 12th grade, Ann Richards School students like Litzy take inspiration from the achievements of themselves and each other. They give 100%, and they inspire all of us at the Ann Richards School Foundation to do the same.

Thanks to you, we were able to fund enrichment programming for the talented faculty and bright students at the Ann Richards School.

Your support made possible STEM curriculum, college visits and advising, educational field trips, teacher professional development and alumnae support for the 2016-2017 school year.

These programs make a real impact on the lives of students like Litzy who love learning, have the desire to succeed and care about the future of the world.

That’s why, 10+ years after the Ann Richard School opened in 2007, we remain committed to advancing education and empowering young women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Thank you for helping girls like Litzy achieve their dreams.

To their future,

Jennifer Long, Executive DirectorAnn Richards School Foundation

Letter from the Executive Director

The 2016-2017 school year marked the 10th year of the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders. Since the school opened, the Ann Richards School has grown from 52 girls in2007 to more than 850 girls today.

For more than 10 years, Ann Richards School students have demonstrated leadership, service, a commitment to a healthy lifestyle and the determination to attend and graduate from college.

Thanks to seed funding from the Young Women’s Preparatory Network and a public-private partnership with Austin ISD, 10 years later the Ann Richards School has much to celebrate:

As we begin our second decade, thank you for supporting our students’ academic successes, college dreams and bright futures.
