Thoughts for Witl Wallace to ponder with OGA from "Sir James" 1. ln the 1996AnnualReport, C-Kap # 980 has earned all three badges. I have received a request for Life Membership from Gregand have senthim a letter informing him, that whenI receive the Registration forms,I will Fonruard a setto him. lf he was not a member of OCA in 1996, thenhe has not payed for the badges, whichI will inform himwhenI forward his Registration Form. I hope the (new ?) price for badges and medals is on the Form as I for onedo not know the prices. 2. C-KAP # 981,Mark, I received his cycling log fromyouroflice with his name on it only. Thats all I know about him. I have no address to sendhim his annual report and do not know if he is a OCAmember. He lists 1995 Life Total as 8,269 Kmsand5,107 Kms for 1996, for a total of 13,376 Kms. Which would earn himallthree badges.and a bronze medal, if he has not recieved the badges already (l do not thinkso). He is not on any annual report. My guess a OCAmember , this is the firsttime he has sentin a C-KAP log and is listing his 1995 total also.He has never filled out a C-I(AP Registration Form and your office threw out the envelope that may have given me a address. Please inform mewhen you send the annual reports for mailing, of his address andC-}(AP # 978, Thanks. (That is if you know) 3. Could you mailme a few extra annual reports for my ownuse? With oneof themlisting all OCANUMBERS so I cantell themfromCJ(APLIFEMEMBERS andwill know whopays andwho does not , there is onlya fewthat I am not sure about. Thiscould save a lot of costly mailor phone calls , whenI receive letters wanting to know whythey did not receive theirawards. Withthis infoupto date , I should beable to handle it fromhere without bothering dear WillWallace. 4. This is one of the mainreasons for the 100,000Kms Club.lt gives cyclists who wishto chase after the setting sunaround andaround the globe a target to aim for untill theypass on fromthisworld. 5. Hewes Ghallenge Trophy

This Award recognizes the collective participation of cycling. lt is awarded to the cycling club, network or group thathas the Highest Annual Kilornetres Total of C-KAP registered members. Cyclist with membership in more than oneclub, are included in each club's total. Please remember to include this information on your yearly cycling log. lthas not been awarded since 1994 bEcause of lack of information. I will try to find someone who can tell membe/sclubs by their names in the 95 and 96 Annual Reports, so that the club winner can be named for those yearsHowever in the future I will only use the clubs mentioned in your cycling logs to declare a winner.

# 345 Paul Davison Halifax N.S. Paul must be in a little trouble in N.S. as he mailed his log in with theCanadian Flag upside down on the stamp, which is the intemational sign for distress.Paul in the 1960and 7O's I was a Canadian Sailor on the Eas{ Coast and belonged to the Strada Cycllng Club ofDartmouth N.S. We used to go to Jack Knass cycle store in Halifax which was a going store at the timeand is stillthere. I got my first set of Campy Record Wheels there.

#409 Tony Marriott Millgrove Ont. Managed to get in a few kilometers of cycling on Lantau lslandHong Kong. Lucky Guy.

#412 Hugh (Bill) Hewes Caledon East Ont. Was the first person to put it in writing, althoughI am sure that a lot of other noticed that the OCA seemed to think that 1996 had 53 weeks rather thanthe normal 52 on their cycling logs. I have had many talks with Will Wallace and I am sure that we willget it right this year.

#714 Brian McGrath Caledon East Ont. ls putting in time in sunny Florida and (Feb.) has already got in1,000 Kms. This year. Brian watch the sun. lt can play trick on you like making you forget the whole yearof 95 when you sent in your cycling log and quoted your life total. However I allowed for the sun andadded the years cycling to your total.

Page 10: 10. WiS W. I haye eeksd b#o br* hcrc b rnathcr rsni+ldc ... · Membership from Greg and have sent him a letter informing him, that when I receive the Registration forms, I will

#909 James (Sir James) Wilson Ottawa Ont. Your new C-}(AP co-ordinator. I have beeh so busy this winter withC-KAP that I have only 4b0 Kms on my bike and its the middle of March. First I brought a PC in December, then Iloaded it with Windows , Word perfect and Excel 5. I then tryed to teach a old horse new tricks by learning how touse it. you can be the judge but I should get better at it by next years report. Then Tom Sylvester dropped of boxesand bags of C-KAP recora! one day while I was at work . This has been cleaned up filed , cross checked and madeinto a iata base. I have created a C-trlnp, C-KAP Honour Roll. Listing all members, The year they joined andretired or still active, their C-I(AP number, their city or town and their Life Total to date. lt turned out to be nineteenpages long when printed . I have been phoning faxing and writing Will Wallace at OCA in Toronto, and here areioire ot tf,e changes that we have come up with for 1997. We have brought the Life Membership back to C-KAPHowever it will now cost $25.00 for a new Life Membership in C-I(AP. The reason is that OCA has lost a lot of itsfunding and we are going to have to pay our own way. Another reason is that I have found out while doing myresearih into C-I(AP tnat nearty one half of all members did not sent in a cycling log zero Kms. 423 to be exact. Sothe twenty five dollars will havC to pay for the annual reports and cycling logs plus postagg a1! other cost of CJ(APand hoptutly it will cut down on the non participants. Member of OCA both $25.00 and $10.00 per year are free Allpast Liie Members will not be charged extra. They joined as Life Members in good Faith and will remain LifeMembers. However they will have to pay current prices for any badges or medals.

I have hopes that OCA will print the Honour Roll in their magazine a year or two at a tiqe. Hopefully it will bringback some of our older members to be active when we cross the World for the 200 th. Time. Yes thats right wehave already gone around 191 times.

We are also working on a trophy or medal for the 100,000 Kms Club. Thats any member who has cycled past the100,OOO Kms mark while being a member of C-I(AP. lt will mean that we will be able to offer you something otherthan sympathy as you cycle pist 10O,OO0 - 2OO,OOO - 300,000 Kms. Since the start of C-MAP in the years 1975-76to the Lnd ot iSgO we have 11 members that have done this and yes they are all still active and cycling.

The next change will be that if you have to pay lor anything in the Cj(AP program, you will make your cheque ormoney order (no Cash) out to the OCA and in the memo area of cheque or money_ order mark what it is for plus(C-KAP). Forward it to me your C-KAP co-ordinator at the address listed below I will record payment into myiecords'and fonrard cheque to the OCA office. This will give both myself and the OCA proof of payment , andhopefully end delays for awards and registration into the program. You will notice in the remarks colum of this yearsAnnual Fleport a t6t of awards underlined and the words Phaze one or two. All this is is a effort by myself and theOCA to insure past awards that have been payed for have been recieved. The # mark mean that I recieved acheque from you which I have recorded then forwarded to Toronto. lf you have payed in the last year and no # . lt istightiy that the OCA recieved it as the mailwas going to OCA first last year and then forwarded to me..

Last of atl, all active members will be carried on the active roll (Annual Report) untill they miss TWOCONSECUTIVE YEARS when this happens you will be moved to the Honour Roll. A place has been reseryed therefor you useing your C-I(AP number. To become active again all you have to do is send in a cycling log and Pay yourdues if they apply. Then the whole process starts over again.

So I wish you a safe and happy cycling year, look forward to recieving your comments and cycling logs next yearand please try to get them in by the end of January if you want them to be on next years Annual Report . We are alittle late this year but I think with good reason.
