10 Non-Touristy Must-Visit places in Singapore that cost nothing
Singapore is a tourist heaven. Be it food, be it adventure parks, the zoo and so on. Furthermore,
with its well-connected public transport system, it is really easy to get around the city. While you
can always look up the tourist places in and around the city, heres a list of top-10 non-touristy
places you should explore when in Singapore.
[1] Labrador Park & Nature Reserve:
Located about 1.2 kms from the Labrador
MRT (Circle Line), it forms a part of the
Southern Ridges. Go there for a tranquil
walk amongst trees and a beautiful view of
the Singapore coastline. The long walk also
has a couple world war relics and some
interesting historical anecdotes.

[2] Marina at Keppel Bay: Fancy a free of cost
leisurely walk down a path that shows the life
of the rich and the famous in Singapore?
Marina at Keppel Bay is an amazing waterfront
where you see parking of private yachts. The
bay overlooks the island of Sentosa and is a
really peaceful walk by itself. To reach Marina
at Keppel Bay the nearest MRT is Harbour
Front. Its little less than 1km walk from the
MRT.
[3] Fort Canning Park: Imagine a hill bang in the
middle of the city thats Fort Canning Park for
you. It is probably one of Singapores most
famous historic places. The so called fort played
an important role in Singapores world war
participation and eventual surrender. If you are a
history buff, you will find many old artefacts
hidden amongst the green hillock. Nearest MRT
to Fort Canning is Dhoby Ghaut.

[4] McRitchie Reservoir: Walking trails,
kayaking, gardens, this amazingly beautiful
reservoir is an ideal spot for picnics,
adventure and leisure walks. It is a scene
from a dream or a fiction book/movie
brought out to life. The nearest MRT to
McRitchie Reservoir is Farrer Road which
then connects you to the reservoir.

[5] Henderson Waves: Henderson Waves,
Singapores tallest pedestrian bridge, is a
structure of artistic brilliance. It has a
peculiar wave-like structure that connects
Mount Faber to Telok Blangah Forest Trail.
You can sign up for some trails for as low as
S$7 per trail. Nearest MRT to Henderson
Waves if Redhill from where you can take bus
145 to the base of the trail to Block 1 bus stop.

[6] Museums: Singapore has some really
interesting museums where ticket prices are
quite low and student card gets you a discount
in most places. Some museums not to be
missed:
Singapore National Museum
Singapore Art Museum

[7] Sound and Light Show at Marina Bay Sands
Shoppes by the Bay: This free of cost, sound and light
show at the water front happens every evening and at
times twice each evening. Although this is a touristy
place, theres always room for everyone. For timings of

[8] East Coast Park: The long walk by
the beach, cycling, skates, kite flying are
some of the things you can do at the
long east coast park. This is another free
of cost leisure activity for those who
wish to sit by the beach. Nearest MRT
to east coast park is Bedok MRT from
where you get buses to go the park. The park is also mentioned as ECP.

[9] National Libraries: Want to read fiction?
Refer to some exclusive books, just want to sit
by and read magazines in different languages?
National Libraries across Singapore offer over
200,000 books available for reading and
reference free of cost. Sit in the library and
read away. Wish to borrow books? Pay S$40
annual membership and borrow upto 4 books
for 21 days each time. There are close to 25

[10] Fountain of Wealth: Guinness Book of
World Records noted Fountain of Wealth as the
worlds largest fountain in 1998. Situated in
heart of central business district, Fountain of
Wealth is a spectacle worth watching.
Designated periods of the day, the fountain is
switched off allowing you to walk to the centre
of the fountain where a smaller fountain is situated. Some cultures consider it good luck to go
around the fountain and collect coins. Daily touch water sessions are available at 9am 12pm,
2pm 6pm and 9pm 10pm. At night theres a song and laser show everyday between 8pm to
9pm. This entire experience is free of cost. The nearest MRT to fountain of wealth is Promenade
MRT on Circle Line (Yellow line) or Downtown Line (Blue line) .
